RANDLEMAN - Steve Chester Ivan, 63, of 150 U.S. 311 Ext. Lot #17, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

There will be no funeral service.

He was a native of New Jersey, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and had worked for the City of High Point.

Surviving are daughters, Annette Ivan of Randleman, Diane Ivan of New Jersey; sons, Henry Ivan, Albert Ivan, both of New Jersey, Steve Ivan of Randleman, John Ivan of Pisgah; stepdaughter, Donna Sherrie of Pleasant Garden; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 10:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, other times at the home.

Dorothy C. Fowler

LIBERTY - Dorothy Curtis Fowler, 93, formerly of Liberty, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998, at Moses Cone Extended Care.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery, with the Rev. Bryan Fox officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, a member of First United Methodist Church and a former music teacher.

Surviving are stepdaughter, Adele Linens of Graham; stepmother, Runa Greenleaf of Liberty; half sister, Mrs. Clay Fogleman of Liberty; half brother, John W. Curtis of Liberty.

Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, is in charge of the arrangements.

T. Theodore Ritter

ROBBINS - Thomas Theodore Ritter, 80, of 399 Smyrna Church Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Smyrna United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. J.R. Tatum officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County and retired from Milliken Co. in Robbins.

Surviving are wife, Maie Garner Ritter; son, Ronnie Ritter of Robbins; sister, Mattie Ritter of Robbins; brother, Fletcher Ritter of Robbins.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

Arthur M. Underwood

ROBBINS - Arthur Mitchell Underwood, 71, of 268 Jim Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Ernest L. Johnson Jr. and the Rev. Bennie Maness officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, a former Sunday School superintendent and deacon, and was a retired Rural Letter Carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.

Surviving are wife, Elgie Williams Underwood; daughter, Sharon U. Mims of Julian; sons, Dallas M. Underwood of Randleman, Joel A. Underwood of Robbins; brother, Jacob A. Underwood of Sanford; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

Dorothy G. Harris

MT. GILEAD - Dorothy Graham Harris, 81, of 103 Sunrise Ave., died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, at her home.

Funeral service was 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Jim Harris officiating. Burial was in Sharon Cemetery.

She was a native of Rowland and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Loster C. Harris; son, Richard J. Harris of Newport News, Va.; daughters, Graema Odom of Wilmington, Weltha McLawhorn of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Josephine Wilson Freeman, 83, of 200 Sterling St., Asheboro, died Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

Mary Elizabeth Foster Carter, 86, of 748 McDermott St., Asheboro, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Foster Street Wesleyan Church, where she was a charter member, with the Rev. Mark Beane and the Rev. Jeff Yeatts officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Chatham County, retired from Keys Hosiery and was a Sunday School teacher and choir member at her church.

Surviving are daughters, Louise Kidd of Asheboro, Loraine Jackson of the home, Barbara Brower of Seagrove; sons, Willis Lee Carter of Tobaccoville, Harold Wayne Carter of Franklinville; 23 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Chatham County, a retired truck driver after 43 years with Armour Company and employed with Marsh Auto Parts for 16 years.

Surviving are wife, Daisy B. Price; daughter, Judy P. Sessoms of Greensboro; sons, Bobby S. Price, John Terry Price, both of Siler City, Wallace Eddie Price of Greensboro; sister, Mary Lois Chalmers of Pittsboro; brothers, Isiah Price, John Paul "Pete" Price, Parker Gene Price, all of Siler City, Obie Lee Price, Clyde Thomas Price, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

KERNERSVILLE - Carlton Joseph Whitesell Jr., 27, of 1023 Highfill Ave., Liberty, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998, at the home of his mother.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home, Kernersville. Burial will be in Mt. Gur Cemetery.

He was a native of Guilford County, an Environmental Technician for Randolph County Health Department, a member and Captain of the Civil Air Patrol and active in the Cadet program, was a CPR instructor at Randolph Community College, a part-time medical ranger at the N.C. Zoo. and set up and maintained the medical stations at the GGCC golf tournament.

Surviving are mother and stepfather, Agatha and Bob Klekotka of Kernersville; father and stepmother, Carlton Joseph Sr. and Janet Whitesell of Greensboro; sister, Tracy Lyn Whitesell of Reidsville; grandparents, Dean and Edith Goins of Greensboro.

The family will be at the funeral home, 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of his mother, 1997 Cartwright Drive, Kernersville.

ROCKWELL - Marian Branson Garner Bingham, 83, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at Meadows Retirement Center, Rockwell.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lowerstone United Church of Christ, where she was a member, with Dr. Walter Patton officiating. Burial will be in Brookhill Memorial Gardens.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Wayne W. Bingham, a 1932 graduate of Farmer High School, a homemaker and a former member of the Home Demonstration Club.

Surviving are son, Randy Bingham of Rockwell; sisters, Esther G. Davis of Asheboro, Ruth G. Morris of Denton; brothers, Wallace Garner of Farmer, Thomas Garner of Seneca, S.C.; one grandchild.

He was a member of Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge #359.
