FORT MILL, S.C. - Thomas Talmadge "Tom" Patterson Jr., 72, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Unity Presbyterian Church, Fort Mill, where he was a member, with the Rev. Dan Holloway officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Charlotte.
He was a native of Charlotte, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a 1950 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, retired manufacturer's representative for C.M. Allen Co. , employed with Charlotte Country Day School and a former member and elder of Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are wife, Beulah K. Patterson; daughter, Patricia P. Osborne of Columbus; son, Thomas Talmadge Patterson III of Charlotte; brother, Robert Stewart Patterson of Asheville; five grandchildren.

She was a native of Boykins, widow of James Edward Gardner, a registered nurse, teacher and director of the school of practical nursing at Obici Hospital for 20 years. She was a charter member and first president of King's Fork Woman's Club and a member of Obici Hospital Auxiliary, Christian Woman's Club of Suffolk, Sallie B. Powell Sunday School Class and Baptist Women's Organization.
Surviving are daughter, Camilla Carroll G. Levien of San Diego, Calif.; son, James Edward Gardner Jr. of Asheboro; seven grandchildren.

He was a native of Moore County, formerly owned and operated Robbins Western Auto Store, was a member of Robbins Lions Club and the Men's Sunday School class, Methodist Men's Club and the administrative board at his church. He was a member of Elise Masonic Lodge #555 AF & AM, the Oasis Shrine Temple in Charlotte and was on the local board of First Bank in Robbins.
Surviving are wife, Mazie Garner Cheek of the home; son, Gerald Lynn Cheek of Asheboro; sister, Dorothy C. Britt of Robbins; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Rich Fork Baptist Church, Thomasville, where he was a member, with the Rev. Eugene Land and the Rev. J. Byron Barker officiating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was a native of Rowan County, licensed and ordained as a Baptist minister in 1965 by Carolina Memorial Baptist Church, Thomasville, helped organize and was pastor of First Baptist Church in Seagrove and at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Troy. He was a pastor at several other churches and the interim pastor at First Baptist Church in Mayodan.
Surviving are wife, Cladis Bradshaw Martin of the home; daughters, Beverly M. McCarter of High Point, Bonnie M. Murdock of Thomasville, Barbara M. Lennon of Asheboro; sister, Christine M. Sullivan of Thomasville; five grandchildren.
