He was a native of Randleman and retired from Acme-McCrary Hosiery Mill.

He was a native of Chatham County, former owner/operator of Central Hardware and Furniture Co. in Robbins, served on the Board of Deacons at his church and on the Robbins Board of Commissioners and was a member of Woodmen of the World.
Surviving are wife, Eula Mae Williams Brewer of the home; daughter, Margaret Ann Brewer McGill of Burke, Va.; son, Anthony "Tony" C. Brewer of Sanford; five grandchildren.
