He was a native of Randolph County and was retired from Whitley Construction Co.

He was a native of Stanly County, the widower of Charlotte Colleen Barker Sides, a member of North Albemarle Baptist Church, a retired service station manager with 40 years of service for Service Distributing Co. and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are sons, Clyde Edwin Sides of Albemarle, Timothy Sides of Oakboro; daughters, Janice S. Greene, Debbie S. Allen, both of Albemarle; sisters, Ruby S. Osteen, Gladys Sides, both of Asheboro; nine grandchildren.

Lee Jay Stone, 91, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at The Church of The Good Shepherd, Asheboro, where he was a member. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
He was a native of Frackville, Pa., a graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a B.S. in economics, and Columbia University with a master's of Business Administration. He was a coach and in education for 31 years and coached at Appalachian State Teachers College, Trenton State Teachers College, Trenton, N.J., Lee Edwards High School, Asheville, Broughton High School, Raleigh and Asheboro High School.
His achievements were North Carolina State AAA Championship at Broughton High; Western N.C. High School Activities Association championships at Asheboro High in 1950, l958 and 1965; 29 consecutive years without a losing season; twice head coach in the N.C. Shrine Bowl; coach the West team in the East-West All Star Game; past president of N.C. Coaches Association and inducted into the N.C. Sports Hall of Fame and the N.C. High School Sports Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Asheboro City Schools Board, held numerous other civic positions, ran twice for the N.C. State House of Representatives and was a member of the Kiwanis Club.
Surviving are daughters, Frances Stone Sechler of Asheboro, Susan Lynn Stone of Asheville; two grandchildren.

She was a native of Graniteville, S.C., attended Winthrop College, was a former secretary to the vice president at Duke University and secretary to the Dean of Engineering at Clemson University and was retired from Chatham Insurance & Realty of Siler City. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Carroll Sunday School class and the Mary Beth Group, was an American Red Cross volunteer and a member of Chatham Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving are son, Baxter P. Reitzel Jr. of Siler City; brothers, John Denny of Florence, S.C., Robert Denny of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; sisters, Margaret Denny of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Patty Denny of Columbia, S.C., Marian Hevner of Media, Pa.; two grandsons.
