RAMSEUR - Jesse Malden Vuncannon, 75, of 5182 Foushee Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at his home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Jordan Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Scott Owen and the Rev. Ardis Payne officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Knoll Cemetery.
He was a native of Guilford County, a graduate of Central Wesleyan College and a 1953 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He operated a United Methodist school in Costa Rica for two years, returned to the U.S. and worked with the Department of Public Instructions, worked with the Close Up Foundation in Washington, D.C., and was a high school principal in Jamestown and Browns Summit. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a former member of the Rotary Club and a member of the Ramseur Lion's Club.
Surviving are wife, Mary Elizabeth Vuncannon of the home; daughter, Jane Sears of Raleigh; brothers, Carl Vuncannon of High Point, the Rev. Lewis Vuncannon of Greensboro; sister, Lila Dale of High Point; one grandson.
The family will be at the church following the service.

GREENSBORO - James Henderson Capps, 92, of 801 Meadowood St., Apt. 229, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Christ United Methodist Church, Greensboro, where he was a member. Burial will be at a later date in Rocky Mount.
He was a native of Cumberland County, the widower of Mildred Pitt Capps and retired from Seaboard Coastline Railroad.
Surviving are daughter, Jeannine Bailer of Greensboro; sister, Alda Richmond of Rocky Mount; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the church immediately following the service, other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bailer, 707 Meade Drive, Greensboro.

She was employed with the American Baptist Association as a Christian writer and was the widow of Robert Scarboro.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Coy S. Lewis Sr., a member of the Presbyterian Women, a former member of Robbins Women's Club and the Eastern Star and was a homemaker.
