He was a native of Alamance County, employed with Brookwood Farms, Siler City, was the owner/operator of F & M Small Engines, attended Cane Creek Friends Meeting and was retired from Snow Camp Fire Department.

Carl Clarence Stout Jr., 84, of 1622 Fairway Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at his home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Michael Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
A native of Star, he was employed as a knitter with Bossong Hosiery for 10 years and in 1943, he established Stout's Fish & Poultry Market with his wife. In 1958, he became a field representative with Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society and played a large part in the growth and success of WOW Camp 921, which now serves boys and girls from western North Carolina. He served the camp as secretary for 29 years and a field representative for 19 years. In 1986, the Asheboro Lodge was renamed the Carl C. Stout Lodge in his honor.
Surviving are wife, Annie Raines Stout; son, James Harvey Stout of Imperial Beach, Calif.; daughter, Ella Raines Stout Pozell of Washington, D.C.; brothers, Cecil Stout of Fairfax, Va., Neil Stout, Hal Stout, both of Wilmington, George Stout of El Paso, Texas; sisters, Kathleen S. Tucker of Grifton, Martha S. Alexander of Hopewell, Va., Ruth S. Burgess of Asheboro; one grandson.
