He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired truck driver.

LIBERTY - James Abner "Sunshine" Mabe, 73, of 320 E. Kime Ave., died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at his home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Siler City Church of God, where he was a member, with the Rev. Neill Kight and the Rev. Joe Newton officiating. Burial will be in Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery, Robbins.
He was retired from Liberty Furniture Company, Liberty.

She was a native of Greenville, Fla., the widow of Carlyle N. Clark and was a retired secretary to the Director of Nurses at Moore Regional Hospital.
Surviving are son, Carlyle N. Clark Jr. of Durham; daughter, Janice Cloninger of Gastonia; five grandchildren.

WINSTON-SALEM - Cora Minor Whitehead, 92, of Brookridge Retirement Community, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ardmore Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ty Talton and the Rev. Justus McKeel officiating. A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Knoll Cemetery, Ramseur.
She was a native of Davie County, the widow of Dewey Esau Whitehead, taught Home Economics at Ramseur High School for 25 years and retired as a elementary school librarian with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools. She was on her church library committee and was the librarian/media center director, was in a Senior Citizens activity group, a member of DAR and Carolina Wood Carvers. She established a library at Brookridge and was its librarian.
Surviving are son, James M. Whitehead of Clemmons; three grandchildren.
The family will be at the church 10-11 a.m. Wednesday.

He was a native of Randolph County, a retired letter carrier after 24 years with the U.S. Postal Service, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a former clerk of the monthly meeting at his church and a past member of Woodmen of the World.
Surviving are wife, Mary Elizabeth Gray Hinshaw of the home; sons, Jan Gray Hinshaw Sr. of the home, Terry C. Hinshaw of Archdale; sister, Ancy Pearsall of High Point; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Catawba County, director of human resources and risk and benefits manager with Ithaca Industries in Wilkesboro, a president of his church congregation, chairperson of the long-range planning committee, Sunday School teacher and an usher. He was on the advisory board for Hartford Specialty Group Risk Management Council and coached boys' baseball and basketball and girls' softball and basketball for the Hickory Recreation Department.
