Brenda D. Ezzell, 50; service was Tuesday
Brenda Davenport Ezzell, 50, of Albertson, died Saturday at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
She was the mother of Tammy Ezzell of Beaufort.
Her funeral was Tuesday at Tyndall Funeral Home, Mt. Olive.
Burial followed in the Ezzell Family Cemetery.
In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Ezzell is survived by her husband, Norbert Ezzell; another daughter, Sheila Ezzell of the home; a son, Jacob Ezzell of Kenansville; three sisters, Mary Grace Jarman of Kinston, Dorothy Cruse of Southport, and Janice Cruse of Goldsboro; two brothers, Michael Davenport and Roy Davenport, both of Albertson; and four grandchildren.
Arrangements were by Tyndall Funeral Home of Mt. Olive.

Elizabeth Rita Gray, 82; service to be Friday
Elizabeth Rita "Betty" Gray, 82, of Pine Knoll Shores, died Tuesday at Carteret General Hospital.
A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Egbert's Catholic Church, with Father Frank R. Moeslein officiating.
Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
Mrs. Gray was a schoolteacher abroad and in the United States for 31 years.
She was a member of the Sea Side Council of Garden Clubs, Pine Knoll Shores Women's Club, Pine Knoll Shores Garden Club, Newcomers Club, German-American Society Club of Wurzberg, Germany, and the St. Egbert's Ladies Guild.
She is survived by her husband, Waldo G. Gray; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Nichols of Wilmington; three sons, Dwight P. Gray of Shalimar, Fla., Robert W. Gray of Jackson, Miss., and Richard J. Gray of Apex; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Julia Palmer Sanders, 85; service in Rocky Mount
Julia Palmer Sanders, 85, of Tallahassee, Fla., died Monday at home.
She was the mother of Lee Sanders of Morehead City.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Rocky Mount.
Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount.
Born Feb. 18, 1914 in Hookerton, Mrs. Sanders was the daughter of Norville Finley Palmer and Lillie Giles Palmer.
She was a 60-year resident of Rocky Mount, and an active member of First United Methodist Church, where she served on the church board and as a sixth grade Sunday school teacher.
She assisted more than 50 Boy Scouts as they worked toward the coveted God and Country Award and enjoyed her years of membership in the Pilot Club of Rocky Mount, where she was the recipient of the Governor's Award for public service.
Mrs. Sanders is survived by three other sons, Alfred Sanders, Jr. and wife Mickey of Houston, Texas, Palmer Sanders and wife Phyllis of Tallahassee, Fla., and John Sanders of Towson, Md.; daughter-in-law, Mel Sanders of Morehead City; and three granddaughters, Sharalynn, Bryanna and Caroline.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Marsh Sanders.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Christina Lynn Roush, 38; service out of state
Christina Lynn Roush, 38, of Danville, Ill., died Wednesday, April 21, at Carteret General Hospital.
She was the daughter of Donna A. Tyson of Morehead City.
Her funeral was Tuesday at Pape Memorial Home and Gardens of Danville, Ill., with the Rev. Delmar Krueger officiating.
Burial followed in Danville National Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Lance Bently Roush; three daughters, Nikisha Ann Nelson and Whitney Michelle Nelson, both of Rantoul, Ill., and Julia Sheyenne Roush of Taylor, Md.; a brother, David "Shannon" Herman Hill of Portland, Ore.; maternal grandmother, Shirley Jessup of Morehead City; and paternal grandmother, Mona Hill of Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Mabel Green Jones, 94; service was held Monday
Mabel Green Jones, 94, of Beaufort, died Saturday at Harborview Health Care Center.
A graveside service was held Monday at Ocean View Cemetery with the Rev. William Rickman Pinner, pastor of Ann Street United Methodist Church, officiating.
A native of Whittier, Mrs. Jones was a retired Carteret County school teacher and businesswoman.
She is survived by two daughters, Sarah Williams and husband Roger of Beaufort and Carol J. Gillikin and husband Frank of Virginia Beach, Va.; four grandchildren, Len'e Pauline Carter and Darrell Roger Williams II, both of Beaufort, Frank Sterling Gillikin, Jr., and wife Lynda of Virginia Beach, Va., and Benjamin Leecraft Gillikin and wife Karen of Norfolk, Va.; and four great-grandchildren, Lessie Len'e Carter, Alexander Leecraft Gillikin, Luther Sterling Gillikin and Chandler Adams Gillikin.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Benjamin Leecraft Jones.

Thelma Vera Lewis, 92; service out of state
Thelma Vera Winder Lewis, 92, of Morehead City, died Saturday at Harborview Health Care Center.
A graveside service was to be at noon today at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Hampton, Va., with the Rev. Richard Cassleberry of First Baptist Church, Newport News, Va., officiating.
Born Nov. 29, 1906, at Silver Beach, Va., Mrs. Lewis was a descendant of the Boston family of Maryland and the William Gibb family.
She was a long-time resident of Newport News/Hampton area, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was employed for many years at Continental Command U.S. Army Base Fort Monroe, Va.
At the time of her retirement, she was an active member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers.
In 1946, Mrs. Lewis was the recipient of a certificate from the American Red Cross "in recognition of meritorious personal service performed in behalf of the nation, her Armed Forces and suffering humanity in World War II."
Mrs. Lewis has outlived most of her contemporaries.
Her family members who survive her, remember her with love.
They are: a sister, Louise Winder Smith of Hartfield, Va.; two nieces, Elois D. Weinhold of Morehead City, and Nan Smith Parker of Hartfield, Va.; two nephews, Carpious O. Smith, Jr. and Lee Winder Smith, both of Hartfield, Va.; a grand-niece, Virginia P. Herrera of Austin, Texas; three great-grand-nephews, F. William Weinhold, Jr. of Morehead City, Darian J. DeMark of Germany, and Esai Xavier Herrera and Earl Isaac Herrera, both of Austin, Texas; a great-grand-niece, Noelle G. DeMark of Germany; and numerous cousins.

Iris Willis Russell; service to be today
Iris Willis Russell of Morehead City, died Monday after an extended illness.
A graveside service was to be at 11 a.m. today at Bayview Cemetery, with Dr. Milton Gilbert of First United Methodist Church officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jesse Staton.
Mrs. Russell, a lifelong resident of Morehead City, was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas H. Russell; a daughter, Elizabeth R. Mason of Morehead City; a son, Thomas H. Russell, Jr., of Morehead City; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Obb C. and Lucy G. Willis; and a brother, Curtis W. Willis.
The family was to receive friends following the service at 905 Shepard St., Morehead City.

Janice Conner, 67, of Otway, died Tuesday at Taylor Hospital and Extended Care Facility, Sea Level.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Otway Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Jesse Forman, the Rev. Gene Lupton and the Rev. Tom Willoughby officiating.
Burial will follow in the Gillikin Family Cemetery.
Mrs. Conner is survived by her husband; a daughter, Elizabeth Conner of Otway; a son, Bobby Conner of Otway; two sisters, Nola Lawrence of Otway and Wytulia Golden of Bettie; a brother, Wiley Gillikin of Otway; and one grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
