Stephen Marcus Laney, 29, of Straits, died Tuesday at Carteret General Hospital.
A service will be at 7:30 p.m. today at McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton.
Mr. Laney was owner and operator of Laney Refrigeration.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Gwenda and Ralph Mattiae of Cedar Island; his father, William C. Laney of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, William D. Laney of Honolulu, Hawaii; and maternal grandfather, Glenn Cobb of Clayton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 today at McLaurin Funeral Home.

Vernon Moore, 63; service to be Saturday
Vernon "Bill" Moore, 63, of Otway, died Thursday at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harkers Island Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Michael Walker and the Rev. Clayton Guthrie officiating.
Burial will follow in Vergie Mae Cemetery.
Mr. Moore is survived by a daughter, Alma Colleen "Susie" Parsons of Otway; a son, Ricky Allen Moore of Otway; a sister, Colleen Willis of Harkers Island; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Clyde B. Edwards, 91, of Morehead City, died Wednesday at Harborview Health Care Center.
Her funeral was to be at 2 p.m. today at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Burke officiating.
Burial was to be in Bayview Cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter, Lina E. Bass of Newport; a sister, Marie Curtis of Clayton; a brother, Ken Boyette of Clayton; three grandchildren, Lynn Bracy, Carl Perry and Pam Stimpson; and six great-grandchildren.

Vernon L. Browne, 78; service to be Saturday
Vernon L. Browne, 78, of Newport, died Wednesday at Craven Regional Medical Center, New Bern.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Grayson officiating.
Burial will be in Millersville, Pa., at a later date.
Mr. Browne was born in Moline, Ill., on Oct. 13, 1920.
He was the son of Jay and Lillian Browne.
He served in U.S. Navy Seebees during World War II and later owned Zech Bottling Works, which he sold to pursue a career in photography.
He worked as a news photographer for a Lancaster, Pa., newspaper and moved on to become a television news photographer at WGAL-TV.
After retiring in 1983, he traveled the inland waterway by houseboat and resided in North Carolina, with his wife, Lavera.
Mr. Browne was president of the Lancaster County Bird Club for 13 years, was a member of the Lancaster Sertoma Club, N.C. Wildlife Club and Veterans of Foreign War Post 2401 in Beaufort.
He is survived by two daughters, Sue Browne of Newport, and Connie Saylor of Litiz, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Rev. Harold Wills, 79; service Saturday in Durham
The Rev. Harold Bryant Wills, 79, of Durham, died Wednesday after a lengthy illness.
He was the father of Dwight Wills of Morehead City.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hudson Funeral Chapel, Durham, with the Rev. Guy Owens, the Rev. Jack Cox and the Rev. Freddie Partin officiating.
The Rev. Wills was a lifelong resident of Durham.
He was the son of the late James and May Stroud Wills of Durham.
He was retired from the Housing Authority of Durham, where he worked in maintenance.
He was the former minister of Eastwood Baptist Church, which is now Gospel Church.
He was in the ministry for more than 30 years.
He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He is also survived by his wife, Betty Long Wills; three additional sons, Roy Wills, Mack Wills and Harold Bryant Wills, Jr., all of Durham; four daughters, Ann Fisher, Ruby Stone, Sue Appel and Wanda Wills, all of Durham; three brothers, Melvin Wills, Richard Wills and George Wills, all of Durham; a sister, Thelma Hicks of Kings Mountain; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Harry Lawrence "Scratch" Faulkner, Jr., 55, of Morehead City, died Thursday.

He is survived by a son, Christopher Lawrence and wife, Anita Faulkner, of Greensboro; two brothers, Terry Faulkner and Bobby Faulkner, both of New Bern; and Esther Seymour of Morehead City.

Pearl F. Hamilton, 92; funeral is 2 p.m. today
Pearl F. Hamilton, 92, of Atlantic, died Friday at Taylor Extended Care in Sea Level.
She graduated from Atlantic High School in 1926 and received an E.C. Teacher's Certificate in July 1936.
She taught school before her marriage to George Hamilton, and was a seamstress and homemaker.
When Sea Level Hospital opened, she was head housekeeper until she retired.
She lived with her sister Gieula until December 1997, when she entered the Sea Level facility.
She is survived by two sisters, Glennie Fulcher Willis and Gieula Fulcher West, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Hamilton; a son, Colby Mason Hamilton; two brothers, Mitchell Fulcher of East Hampton, Long Island, N.Y., and William Henry Fulcher of Atlantic; a sister, Mable Fulcher Morris; and her parents, Clem M. and Emma R. Fulcher.
Her funeral will held at 2 p.m. today at Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael Fields officiating.
Burial will follow in Over the Brook Cemetery.
The family received friends Saturday night at the church.
