Elouise E. Garner, 87; service to be Friday
Elouise E. "Billie" Garner, 87, of Newport, died Tuesday at Carteret General Hospital.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. James United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Lindblade officiating.
Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Ms. Garner was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a sister, Elsie E. Elliott of Newport; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Munden Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. of Morehead City.

Jane Roberts Murdoch, 70; memorial service Saturday
Jane Roberts Murdoch, 70, of Raleigh, died Wednesday, May 31, in Raleigh.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Avent Ferry United Methodist Church, Raleigh, with the Rev. Bryan Faggart officiating.
A native of Newport, Mrs. Murdoch was the daughter of the late Willie Roberts and the late Lena Mann Roberts.
She had been a longtime resident of Raleigh, and was office manager for Capital Area OB-Gyn Associates for the past 36 years.
She was a member of Avent Ferry United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Janet Reed of Cary; a son, James Murdoch of Elk Grove, Calif.; a sister, Ethel Garner of Newport; a brother, Billy Roberts of Newport; and three grandchildren.

Gene Autry Mason, 61; funeral was Thursday
Gene Autry Mason, 61, of Lafayette, Ind., died Saturday, May 27, in Indiana's Veterans Home, Lafayette, Ind.
His funeral was Thursday, June 1, at Indiana Veterans Home Chapel with the Rev. Bud Kirby officiating.
A native of Stacy, Mr. Mason was born Nov. 28, 1938.
He had lived in Lafayette, Ind., since 1985.
A graduate of Atlantic High School, Mr. Mason attended Bible college in Nashville, Tenn.
He was the manager at Family Inn of West Lafayette, until he retired in 1996.
He is survived by a special friend, Mary Hartman of Battle Ground, Ind.; two nieces; two nephews; and several cousins.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Pearl S. Gregory, 89, of Broad Creek, died Sunday at Britthaven of Havelock.
Burial will be later at National Cemetery, Memphis, Tenn.
Mrs. Gregory is survived by two sons, Walter Gregory of Morehead City, and Thomas E. Gregory of Grandview, Mo.; and 15 grandchildren.

James Franklin Settle, Jr., 68, of Morehead City, died Sunday at Carteret General Hospital.
A graveside service was to be at 11 a.m. today at Gethsemane Memorial Park with the Rev. David Harper officiating.
Mr. Settle is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Settle; two daughters, Peggy Marie Eldred and Tammy Katz, both of Morehead City; four sons, Walter Lee Settle and Donald Paul Settle, both of Morehead City, James Franklin Settle, III of the home and Ronald Ray Settle of Mill Creek; four sisters, Laura Williams of Statesville, Virginia Woodren of Ohio, Evelyn Niblet of Alabama, and Christine Allen of Star; a brother, Paul Settle of Georgia; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Willie B. Hunnings, 86; service to be Thursday
Willie B. Hunnings, 86, of Sea Level, died Tuesday at Taylor Extended Care Facility, Sea Level.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ocracoke United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Holmes officiating.
Burial will follow in Ocracoke Community Cemetery.
He was a member of Ocracoke United Methodist Church and a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Hunnings is survived by a granddaughter, Mona Henry of New Bern; a grandson, Chris Lee of New Bern; a son-in-law, Mickey Lee of Grantsboro; and several nieces and nephews of Atlantic and Harkers Island.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beaulah Hunnings; and a daughter, Vickie Lee.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Ocracoke United Methodist Church, Ocracoke.

Jerry Taylor, 55, of Atlantic Beach and Winston-Salem, died Saturday.

He was a former resident of Morehead City.

A native of Mocksville, Mr. Spry was the son of the late Paul Spry and Elizabeth Holder Spry.
He was previously employed by Owens-Corning Fiberglass. and Kimberly-Clark.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Barbara Taylor Spry, and his mother-in-law, Maxine Taylor of Morehead City.
