Eloise Chadwick Bartlett, 75; service was held today
Eloise Chadwick Adams Bartlett, 75, of Raleigh, formerly of Morehead City, died Sunday at Rex Hospital, Raleigh.
Her funeral was to be at 2 p.m today at Smyrna United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ellis Bedsworth officiating.
Burial was to follow in Straits United Methodist Church Cemetery, Straits.
Mrs. Bartlett is survived by a daughter, Cheryl L. Adams of Raleigh; five grandchildren, Natalie Mattingly of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and Ashley Wooten, Michael Wooten, Jonathan McClenny and David McClenny, all of Raleigh; and a great-grandchild, Corey Mattingly of Murrells Inlet, S.C.

Tucker Penny, 49; service was Sept. 27
Tucker Penny, 49, of Dawson, Va., previously of Beaufort, died Sunday, Sept. 24.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Bethel Cemetery, Dawson, with the Rev. Dwight Duhon officiating.
Mr. Penny was a native of Beaufort.
He had been a resident of Terrell County, since 1987 and worked in industrial construction as a boiler maker.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Deal Penny; two daughters, Tammy Penny of Lynn, Mass., and Tina P. Creamer of Dawson; a son, Trey Penny of Dawson; a sister, Dorothy Boisvert of McDonough, Va.; five brothers, Timothy Penny of Morehead City, Tommy Penny of Burgaw, Ted Penny of Wendell, Tony Penny of Chesapeake, Va., and Trent Penny of Newport; and two grandchildren.

Jason Ebron, 29; service to be Friday
Jason Ebron, 29, of Merrimon, died Tuesday at his home.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Harris officiating.
Burial will be in Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Mr. Ebron was a member of Merrimon United Methodist Church.
He was the lieutenant of Engine One of the South River/Merrimon Rescue Squad and the co-owner of the Blue Heron.
Mr. Ebron is survived by his wife, Darlene Ebron; his parents, Gene and Gale Ebron of Merrimon; two brothers, Todd Ebron and wife Julia of Lorton, Va., and Scot Ebron of LaPlata, Md.; paternal grandmother, Alice Cherry and husband, the Rev. Roland Cherry; and two dogs, Sammer and Cleatis.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John Ebron; and maternal grandparents, James and Thelma Robinson.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Munden Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. of Morehead City.

Myrtis Elizabeth Barnes, 82; service to be Saturday
Myrtis Elizabeth Barnes, 82, of Beaufort, died Thursday at Carteret General Hospital.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Robinson officiating.
Burial will follow in Oceanview Cemetery.
Mrs. Barnes was a lifetime member of Beaufort Pentecostal Holiness Church, now Maranatha Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She was employed with Capt. Bill's Restaurant until 1970.
She is survived by four daughters, Ann Mason of Virginia, Sara Mason Hunt of Newport, Karen Costa of Beaufort and Teresa Hughes of Georgia; two sons, Teddy Barnes of Beaufort, and Joseph Giffin of Morehead City; four sisters, Alice Noe of Mississippi, Irene Southerland of Newport, and Shelia Mason and Ruth Congelton, both of Beaufort; 14 grandchildren, Tina Rogers, Sharon Equial, George Equial, Beverly Wilson, Joyce Ann Johnson, Linda Sargent, Debra Kozlenko, Bobby Norman, Marie Leija, Virginia Apple, Vonnie Marie Seabach, Renee Allen Hunt, Adam Costa and Brandon Giffin; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore A. Barnes; a daughter, Vonda Allen Mason; and a son, Maxton Mason.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Munden Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. of Morehead City.

Walton Leroy Wigwall, 80; service to be Saturday
Walton "Walter" Leroy Wigwall, 80, of Beaufort, died Monday at Carteret General Hospital.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Queen Street Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. William Ellison officiating.
Burial will follow in Oceanview Cemetery.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the senior choir at Queen Street Missionary Baptist Church, Beaufort.
Mr. Wigwall is survived by two brothers, Wilbert Davis of Beaufort and Charles W. Davis of the Bronx, N.Y.

Harry Q. Williams, 81, Henderson; service scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday
Harry Q. Williams, 81, of Henderson, formerly of Newport, died Friday at home.
He was a retired county agent with N.C. State University's Cooperative Extension Service, serving in Greene, Wake and Bertie counties before moving to Vance County in 1961.
He received the Distinguished Service Award in 1971.
After his retirement in 1979, he served for almost a decade as sales supervisor for the Henderson Tobacco Market.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Philippines and Japan.
He attended Newport River Primitive Baptist Church in Newport.
His funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Newport River Primitive Baptist Church, with elder J.M. Horne officiating.
Burial will follow in Amariah Garner Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Munden Funeral Home, Morehead City, Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Jewell Taylor Simmons of Henderson; two sons, Harry Q. Simmons, Jr. of Caswell Beach and Alva Taylor "Buddy" Simmons of Charlotte; and a sister, Signa Rose S. Roberts of Newport.

Gertrude Neilson Salter, 79, formerly of Sea Level, died Friday at her home in Norfolk, Va.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Styron Creek Cemetery in Sea Level, with the Rev. Edward Kirkpatrick officiating.
Mrs. Salter retired from Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Va.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Mishoe of Norfolk, Va.; a son, Russell Salter of Chesapeake, Va.; and seven grandchildren.

Etta M. Umstead, 88; funeral set for Monday
Etta M. Umstead, 88, of Beaufort, died Friday at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, Bahama, with the Rev. Ron Snider officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Umstead was born and reared in Person County. She attended Roxboro High School.
She was involved in Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church for more than 55 years and was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Malcolm B. Umstead, of the home; a daughter, Kitty Boersma and husband, Tom, of San Diego, Calif.; a son, Michael Umstead and his wife, Jean, of Beaufort; a grandson, Gregory Mark Umstead of Durham; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Clarke; a brother and sister-in-law, Norfleet and Melba Jean Umstead; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors this evening from 7-9 p.m. at Howerton-Brynn Funeral Home.
