Eleanor Alice Hinds, 72; service will be Monday
Eleanor Alice Hinds, 72, of Newport, died Wednesday at Carteret General Hospital.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Swansboro, with the Rev. Donald Baribeau officiating.
Burial will follow in Seaside Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hinds is survived by her husband, Albert Hinds; a daughter, Jean Kaufmann and husband, Pete, of Freehold, N.J.; four stepdaughters, Louise Hinds of Cleveland, Ohio, Eva Hinds of Toms River, N.J., June Hinds of Colorado, and Joyce Hinds of Union City, Calif.; a sister, Tess Humphres of Sheffield, Ala.; a brother, George Petrusky of Matawan, N.J.; 23 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Jones Funeral Home of Swansboro.

Freda Garner Fodrie, 57; service to be Saturday
Freda Garner Fodrie, 57, of Beaufort, died Thursday at Carteret General Hospital after a brief illness.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Pollock, pastor of Ann Street United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in Carteret Memorial Gardens, Beaufort.
Mrs. Fodrie was a fifth grade teacher at Beaufort Elementary School until her illness.
Mrs. Fodrie is survived by her husband, James Fodrie; two sons, James Fodrie, III of Asheville, and Joel Fodrie of San Diego, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Jamison F. Ipock of Beaufort; her father, Fred Garner of Beaufort; a sister, Norma Dixon of Atlanta, Ga.; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends following the service at Brooks Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. of Morehead City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fifth Grade DARE Program, Beaufort Elementary School, 801 Mulberry St., Beaufort, N.C. 28516.

Doris Jean Campbell, 53; service to be Saturday
Doris Jean Campbell, 53, of Harkers Island, died Thursday at Craven Regional Medical Center, New Bern.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Harkers Island, with President Joel Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in Vergie Mae Cemetery, Harkers Island.
Mrs. Campbell was born Oct. 13, 1947, in Summersett, Ky., the fourth child of the late Joseph Foskett Campbell and the late Dollie Gladys Wooten Campbell, who died before Mrs. Campbell's 6th birthday.
Her sister, Thelma Hancock, became her second mother.
Mrs. Campbell moved to Carteret County, in April 1980 and lived next door to her sister on Harkers Island.
Mrs. Campbell had been in declining health for the past four months.
She is survived by her sister, Thelma Hancock and husband, Tommy, of Harkers Island; two brothers, Virgil David Campbell and wife, Joyce, of Campbellsville, Ky., and Dennis Ray Campbell and wife, Carolyn of Columbia, Ky.; five nieces; and five nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the church.

James Alton Brown, 64; service to be Tuesday
James Alton Brown, 64, of Morehead City, died Saturday at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Morehead City, with Dr. Homer Morris and the Rev. Marc Werner officiating.
Mr. Brown was reared in Duplin County but had lived in Morehead City, for many years.
He was a yacht broker for the past 25 years and a member of the Masonic Order and First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie; three daughters, Amy B. Salter, Lori B. Beacham and Jill B. Stone; three stepchildren, Kyanne Thomson Kyle Kight and Kasey Kight; and six grandchildren, Katie Salter, Natalie Salter, Sarah Milliman, Jordan Milliman, Austin Stone and Shelby Thomson.

Sadie K. Vandersea, 90; service was today
Sadie Kortekamp Vandersea, 90, of New Bern, died Tuesday at Alterra Sterling House.
She was the mother of Evelyn VanDerHeide and husband, Cornelius, of Newport.
Her funeral was set for 11 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church, New Bern, with the Rev. Shirley Rogers officiating.
Burial was to follow in Greenleaf Memorial Park.
Mrs. Vandersea was born Oct. 15, 1910, in Sutton, Mass., before moving to Washingtonville, N.Y., in 1934.
In 1979, she moved to New Bern, where she was active in many church and community activities.
She was a charter member of the Goshen Christian Reformed Church, Goshen, N.Y., and a member of First Presbyterian Church, New Bern.
She was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Women.
Mrs. Vandersea is survived by an additional daughter, Claire Stap and husband, William, of Montgomery, N.Y.; a son, Dr. Harold Vandersea and wife, Marilyn, of New Bern; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Mark Vandersea; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of her son, Dr. Harold Vandersea, 4508 Morgan Lane, New Bern.

Infant twins Stephen Reid Mehan and Jonathan Henry Mehan of Newport, died Sunday at Carteret General Hospital.
A private family service was held Tuesday at Gethsemane Memorial Park with the Rev. David Banks officiating.
The children are survived by their parents, Mark and Mary Ann Mehan; maternal grandmother, Mary Adams of Broad Creek; and paternal grandparents, Harold and Carol Mehan of Newport.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Eugene Swidonovich; two sons, Gregory "Jacky" Swidonovich of Savannah, Ga., and Thomas "Connie" Swidonovich of Elk Grove, Calif.; two sisters, Allene Schooley and husband Jerry of Opolis, Kan., and Lucille Reed of Erving, Texas; a brother, John Reynolds of Raytown, Mo.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
