Claude A. Henderson, 75; service Thursday in Newport
Claude Alfred Henderson, 75, of Manassas, Va., died Sunday at Prince William Hospital, Manassas, Va.
He was the father of Madeline Juny Smith and husband Clay of Beaufort.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. James United Methodist Church, Newport, with the Rev. Susan Lindblade officiating.
Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Mr. Henderson was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the St. Andrew's Society and Chieftain and Clan Henderson Society of the United States and Canada.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ann Henderson; an additional daughter, Renee Henderson Malzahn and husband Dave of Alexandria, Va.; a son, Claude Henderson, Jr. and wife Sandra of Wilmington; his stepmother, Myrtle Henderson; four sisters, Ann Caulder of Lincoln, Ala., Justine Hardison of Kinston, and Cecelia Kuiper and Julia Pernell of Raleigh; a brother, Douglas C. Henderson of Newport; and three grandchildren, Brett Alfred Henderson of Wilmington, and Melanie Ann Markow and Emily Elizabeth Markow, both of Alexandria, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Van Buren Henderson; his mother, Helen Mae Henderson; a son, Richard Kent Henderson; and a grandson, Allen L. Henderson.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service.

Erah Springle McIntosh, 77; service was held today
Erah Springle "Tee" McIntosh, 77, of Beaufort, died Sunday at her home.
Her funeral was to be at 3 p.m. today at Ann Street United Methodist Church, Beaufort, with the Rev. Charles Pollock, the Rev. Vance Harrell and the Rev. Rusty Willis officiating.
Burial was to follow in Carteret Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. McIntosh was a member of Ann Street United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Leroy McIntosh; two daughters, Sallie McIntosh of Baltimore, Md., and Erah "Sue" Mason and husband Jeff of Smyrna; a son, "Mac" McIntosh and wife Jiff of Core Creek; three sisters, Grace Herbert and Joyce Lewis, both of Beaufort, and Mamie Chadwick of Straits; and four grandchildren.

Benigno Valera, 87; service to be Thursday
Benigno "Mike" Valera, 87, of Morehead City, died Sunday at Carteret General Hospital.
A burial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Egbert's Catholic Church with Father Gregory Spencer officiating.
Mr. Valera is survived by his wife, Mary Kamahele Valera; a daughter, Vanna A. McKay of Morehead City; a son, Ray LeRoy Valera of Morehead City; two sisters, Asuncion Felix of San Jose, Calif., and Helen B. Ramones of Kapaa Kauai, Hawaii; a brother, Angel Valera of Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii; and seven grandchildren, John McKay, Dwayne McKay, Thomas McKay, Brian McKay, Kris M. Parks, Shannon M. Williams and Michele Valera.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the Brooks Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. of Morehead City.
A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.

Pamela M. Deemer, 56; service to be Thursday
Pamela Matters Deemer, 56, of Morehead City, died Sunday at her home.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Greenleaf Memorial Park, New Bern.
Ms. Deemer was a graduate of Garden City High School, Garden City, N.Y., and was a member of the board of Cedarwood Village.
She lived in Brandywine Bay.
She is survived by three sons, Russel Deemer of Greensboro, Bradley Deemer of Port Huron, Mich., and Andrew Deemer of Charlotte; a sister, Janine Matters of Selden, N.Y.; a brother, Doug Matters of Havelock; and a granddaughter.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Munden Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. of Morehead City.

Sammy Ray-Dale Walker, 64; family to receive friends
Sammy Ray-Dale Walker, 64, of Morehead City, died Friday.
His family will receive friends at 4:30 p.m. today at Ocean Sands Resort, Atlantic Beach.
Mr. Walker was retired from the Fairfax County Police Department, Fairfax, Va.
He is survived by three sons, Sammy R. Walker, Jr., of Miami, Fla., Kenneth R. Walker of King George, Va., and David E. Walker of Stafford, Va.; a sister, Mary Ruth Wilms of Sun City West, Ariz.; and six grandchildren.

Jimmy Rivas, 22, of Newport, died Saturday.

Mr. Rivas was employed at Stone Plantation, Morehead City, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Rivas of Havelock; his father, Dom Rivas of Newport; a sister, Michelle Rivas of Havelock; maternal grandparents, George and Pauline Bienkowski of Havelock; paternal grandmother, Ellen Tribbett of Morehead City; and paternal grandfather, Dominick Rivas of Florida.

Jill Dillon Boykin, 75; service to be Thursday
Jill Dillon Boykin, 75, of Atlantic Beach, and Wilson, died Tuesday at Wilson Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson, with the Rev. Blair Both officiating.
Mrs. Boykin was born Aug. 7, 1925 in Wilson County, Tennessee, and lived her adult life in Wilson.
She is the daughter of the late Henry Clay Dillon and the late Anna Polk Clark.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Boykin Pittman and Sarah Boykin Hardison, both of Wilson; two sons, J. Robert Boykin, III and Wallace C. Boykin, both of Wilson; a daughter-in-law, Susan Mewborn Boykin of Wilson; a son-in-law, James W. Pittman of Wilson; two sisters, Dorothy Dillon Giarth of Surfside Beach, S.C., and Sarah Dillon Wakefield of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two brothers, Harold C. Dillon of Darien, Conn., and William E. Dillon of Southern Pines; and 10 grandchildren, James William Pittman, Jr. and wife Jill, Elizabeth W. Pittman, E. Clay Hardison, W. Blake Boykin, Collins T. Boykin, Sherard E. Boykin and Dillon A. Boykin, all of Wilson, George Barnes Boykin of Morehead City, Robert Clark Boykin and wife Frances of Wilmington, and Eleanor W. Boykin of Raleigh; and one great-grandchild, J. William Pittman, III.

Caroline C. Walker, infant; service to be Thursday
Caroline Civils Walker, infant daughter of David and Ann Dill Walker of Morehead City, died prematurely on Monday at Carteret General Hospital.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church with the rector, the Rev. C. King Cole, officiating.
Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
In addition to her parents, the infant is survived by two sisters, Virginia Connolly and Kathryn Bryan Walker, both of the home; paternal grandmother, Evelyn K. Walker of Reidsville; maternal grandmother, Evelyn I. Dill of New Bern; maternal great-grandmother, Jessie Civils Ipock of New Bern; an aunt, Kathy Walker Hale and family of Eden; and two uncles, Billy Dill and family of New Bern, and Hal Dill and family of Massilon, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, B. Ray Walker and William L. Dill.
The family will receive friends at the home following the service, 4110 Sound Drive, Morehead City.
