Vreeland
Lisa Ann Vreeland, 40, of Hubert, died Monday at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
A memorial service took place Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with the Rev. Eric Jones officiating.
Survivors include one daughter, Kristina Vreeland of Richlands; a son, Joshua Archer of Hubert; her parents, Rodney and Jean Vreeland of Batesville, Miss.; and two sisters, Terry Vreeland and Nancy Kidd, both of Memphis, Tenn.

Gilchrist
Barbara Gilchrist, 63, of Swansboro, died Sunday in Swansboro.
Services will take place Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's By-The-Sea Episcopal Church.
She was a high school art teacher for many years and enjoyed working with mentally and physically challenged children and adults.
Survivors include three sons, Steven Gilchrist of Swansboro, Douglas Gilchrist of Naples, Fla., and Mark Gilchrist of Orlando, Fla; her mother, Norma Giordano of Florida; a brother, Jerry Giordano of Florida; two sisters, Lucille Zevens and Judy Held, both of Florida; and one granddaughter.

Lord
Howard Blaine Lord, 74, of Emerald Isle, died Saturday at his home.
A memorial service will take place at a later date at Hofstra University.
He was a retired professor at Hofstra University in New York.
He was involved in the theater in New Bern, and a lector at St. Mildred Catholic Church in Swansboro.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Lord of the home; four children, Meg, Lisa, Tracy and Michael; four stepchildren, Thomas Keri Eric and Lara; one brother, Ernest Lord; and 19 grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the Carteret County Hospice.

Rhue
Nannie Garner Rhue, 67, of Peletier, died Saturday at Carteret General Hospital.
Services were Tuesday at Peletier First Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. W. Michael Ledbetter officiating.
Burial followed at Rhue Family Cemetery.
She was a retired seamstress and a member of Peletier Fist Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Linwood Rhue; a daughter, Jean Rhue of Peletier; a son, James Rhue of Peletier; two brothers, Larry Garner of Morehead City and Terry Garner of Broad Creek; four sisters, Georgia Long and Hulda Penney, both of Beaufort, Doris Turner of New Bern, and Ethel Gentry of California; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Kane
Col. Douglas Terry Kane, USMC, 78, of Cape Carteret, died Sept. 18 in Jacksonville.
Services were Friday at the Protestant chapel, Camp Lejeune.
Burial followed at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
He was commissioned in the Marine Corps during World War II and served both in Korea and Vietnam.
While at Camp Lejeune, he served in the 2d Marines, edited the Globe and performed duties as the Chief of Staff, Marine Corps Base.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Oglivy Kane; three daughters, Margaret Hamrick of Morehead City, Carol Kane of Rock Hill, S.C., and Kathleen Sybil Helme of Boston; a son, Lt. Col. Terry Richard Kane of Charlotte; and four grandchildren.

Evans
Vivian Russell Evans, 89, of Hubert, died Sunday at her home.
Services were today (Wednesday) at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Oliver officiating.
Burial followed at the Russell Family Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Russell.
Survivors include her son, William W. Russell and wife, Vicki, of Hampstead; one daughter, Rosemarie Boone and husband, Duane, of Hubert; one sister, Dorothy Smith and husband, Ray, of Jacksonville; six grandchildren; Leigh, Megan and Lacy Russell, Carl and Chuck Handley and Duane Boone, Jr. and wife, Tosha; and three great-grandchildren.

Julian Conway Ramsey, 83, of Hubert, died Sunday at his home.
Services were today (Wednesday) at Queens Creek United Methodist Church with Dr. James Oliver officiating.
Burial followed at Onslow Memorial Park.
Survivors include two sons, Henry Ramsey of Jacksonville, and Terry Augustus Ramsey of Hubert; a sister, Katie Lee Gatlin of Hubert; three grandchildren, Brian Ramsey, Chris Ramsey and Nicole Peyton; and one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Peyton.

Andrews
Harper Andrews, 75, of Trenton, died Friday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston.
He was the brother of Clyde Andrews of Emerald Isle.
Services were Sunday at Garner Funeral Home in Kinston, with the Rev. Tim Nichols officiating.
Burial was Monday at the Andrews Family Cemetery in Trenton.
He was a retired farmer.
Other survivors include his wife, Zeta M. Andrews of the home; a daughter, Nancy A. Smith of Trenton; three sons, Harper Brian Andrews, David McKinley Andrews and Marvin Lee Andrews, all of Trenton; five other brothers, Harvey Andrews of Trenton, Alfred Andrews, Joseph Andrews and Bruce Andrews, all of Kinston, and Leslie Andrews of Roxboro; four sisters, Lucy Mae Jarman of Kinston, Fannie Mitchell of Grifton, Betty Andrews of Ayden, and Grace Griffin of Trenton; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
