Drake
Dr. Raymond Dewitt Drake, Jr., 70, of Maysville, died Sunday at Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern.
He was the father of Gene C. Edens of Stella.
Services were today (Wednesday) at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville, with the Rev. Lon Miller officiating.
Burial followed at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Other survivors include his wife, Nancy King Drake; three daughters, Stephanie Lizbeth Drake of Raleigh, Jayne Wyrick of Burlington, and Renée Stalls of Jacksonville; another son, Raymond Dewitt Drake, III of California; and three grandchildren.

McNeill
Charles Angus McNeill, 72, of Jacksonville, died Saturday at his home.
He was the father of Larry L. Settle of Swansboro.
Services were Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with the Revs. Robert Hall and Russell Padgett officiating.
Burial followed at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
He was a retired sergeant major in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Other survivors include his wife, Linda A. McNeill of the home; a daughter, Cynthia Kuhn of Wilmington; another son, David C. McNeill of Oak Island; four brothers, Robert (Bob) McNeill, Hugh McNeill and Carl McNeill, all of Fayetteville, and James A. McNeill of Sacramento, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Onslow County or to the American Cancer Society.

Palmer
Michael H. Palmer, 44, of Yulee, Fla., died Oct. 14 at Baptist Medical Center in Nassau, Fla.
He was the son of Clarence Palmer of Hubert.
He retired as a civil service crane inspector after 21 years, and was a computer specialist with Cisco Technologies.
He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Other survivors include his wife, Donna Rowland Palmer; a daughter, Erica Denise Palmer of Vernon, Fla.; a son, Jason Scott Palmer of Vernon; his mother, Patricia "Pat" Palmer of Jacksonville; a brother, Thomas Palmer of Clintwood, Va.; and two sisters, Nancy Sheluga of Jacksonville, and Jill Ahlquist of Oakwood, Ga.

Riggs
Mr. Ralph Livingston Riggs, 87, of Greensboro died Oct. 13, 2001.
He was a resident of the Masonic and Eastern Star Home of Greensboro.
Masonic services for Mr. Riggs were held Oct. 16 at the Masonic and Eastern Star home.
Burial followed at the Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Riggs was a life member of the Shrine Club in Swansboro, and a member of Seaside Masonic Lodge 429 in Swansboro.
He was also a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Swansboro, and had served in the United States Coast Guard.
In July of this year, Governor Paul E. Patton of Kentucky, commissioned him a Kentucky Colonel.
Mr. Riggs is survived by his children, Ralph S. Riggs of Conway, S.C., Billie Jean Millard and husband David of Wilmington, Teddy L. Riggs and wife Carolyn of Laurinburg, and Ann Ill of Charlotte, his brothers, Crain Riggs, Richard Riggs and Rona Bell Riggs, all of Swansboro; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Neva Swain Riggs.

Bray
Wilbert Norman Bray, 77, of Swansboro, died Monday at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City.
Graveside services will take place Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Stokely Family Cemetery in Elizabeth City.
He was a carpenter and attended Word of Life Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Estelle Odum Bray; six daughters, Barbara Balance of Elizabeth City, Margaret Jean Bray and Brenda Faye Workman, both of Norfolk, Va., Norma Mann of Avon, Ind., and Rena Schirmer and Brenda Toomer, both of Swansboro; a son, John Bray of Shiloh; 22 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Shirley Ann Bugos, 72, of Stella, died Saturday at Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern.
A memorial service took place Tuesday at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel in Morehead City, with the Rev. Timothy Havlicek officiating.
Survivors include her husband, Bernard Bugos; a daughter, Dulciana Tennyson of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; a son, Timothy L. Pepperdine of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a brother, Anthony G. Hendry of Falmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada; and one grandson.

Prada
Phyllis A. Prada, 85, of Sandwich, Mass., formerly of Jacksonville, died Saturday at Cape Heritage Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Sandwich.
She was the stepmother of Karen Midgette of Hubert.
Services will take place Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Sandwich, with the Rev. William Geertz officiating.
Burial will follow at Cedarville Cemetery in Plymouth, Mass.
A native of Massachusetts, she was secretary to the head of history of Cape Cod Community College.
She also worked for Clark University as an executive secretary .
Other survivors include a daughter, Jane A. Briggs of Sandwich; a brother, John E. Shortt of Guatemala; a sister, Lorraine Pl. Delong of Casco, Maine; and eight grandchildren.

Strickland
Cedric Joseph Strickland, 78, of Wilson, died Friday.
He was the father of Gerald W. Strickland of Swansboro.
Graveside services were Sunday at Lee's Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Freeman officiating.
Other survivors include another son, Cecil L. Strickland of Pasadena, Calif.; two sisters, Beulah Parker of Raleigh, and Katie Lou Strickland of Middlesex; two brothers, Willard Strickland of Zebulon, and Johnnie Strickland of Middlesex; and four grandchildren.

William M. Brown, Jr., 78, of Beaufort, died Thursday at Century Care of the Crystal Coast in Morehead City.
He was the father of Hunter C. Brown of Emerald Isle.
Graveside services took place Monday at Edgecombe Memorial Park in Tarboro, with the Rev. Ed Conner officiating.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dale Creech Brown; and a son, William M. Brown, III.
Other survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Brown of Alameda, Calif.; a daughter, Laura D. Brown of Winterville; two brothers, Graham Brown of Bridgeton, and Donald Brown of Franklin, Va.; one sister, Claudia Roach of Melbourne, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
