Richard Alvey Partello, Jr., 58, of Southport
Richard (Rick) Alvey Partello, Jr., 58, of Southport, died Thursday, August 2, 2001, at Dosher Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Washington, D. C., to the late Richard Alvey Partello, Sr. and Sarah Palmer.
He spent his younger years in Washington, before he moved to Charleston, S.C., where he spent four years with the U.S. Coast Guard.
In 1971, he moved to Southport, with his family.
He retired as a career employee from Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point, after 19 years as an electrician.
He was a member of the AFGE union, Local 1708, and while at Sunny Point, became involved in the employee assistance program.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served on the inter-faith fellowship council, and was a past member of the Jaycees.
Partello belonged to numerous organizations and committees.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce St. George Partello; his sons, Christian Donald Partello and fiance, Carrie Ann Dewitt, and Richard Alvey Partello, III, and three grandchildren, Amanda, Ben and Adam Dewitt, all of Southport.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jessie Wayne Rhinehart.
Graveside services were conducted Monday at 11 a.m., in Northwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Cottingham and the Rev. P. D. Midgett officiating.

Frances Katherine Fridley, 76, of Southport
Mrs. Frances Katherine Fridley, 76, of Southport, died Tuesday, August 7, 2001, at Dosher Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, at Northwood Cemetery, with Mervin E. Nickels officiating.
Mrs. Fridley was born March 26, 1925, in Charleston, W. Va., a daughter of the late James R. and Bertha Lane Wiseman, and moved here 26 years ago.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Samuel V. Fridley of the home; a son, Samuel Allen Fridley of Southport; two daughters, Mary Brower of Oak Island, and Kay Cox of Belle, W. Va.; a brother, Russell Wiseman of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Violet Cavender of China Grove; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Peacock-Newnam Funeral & Cremation Service, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today (Wednesday).

Charles Eversole, 69, of Southport
Charles Eversole, 69, of Southport, died Tuesday, January 23, 2001, at Brunswick Community Hospital, Shallotte.
Graveside service was conducted Saturday at Brown Cemetery, Bolivia, with the Rev. Arthur Spencer and Mervin Nickels officiating.
Eversole was born May 3, 1931, in Hyden, Ky., a son of the late Irvine and Mallie Feltner Eversole, and had lived in Southport, since 1944.
He was a maintenance man with the N.C. Baptist Assembly and a member of Boiling Spring Lakes Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Eversole, and sister, Wilma Clemmons, and is survived by two brothers, Bige Eversole of Oak Island, and Pearl Eversole of Boiling Spring Lakes; four sisters, Lucy Lewis and Nancy Spencer of Southport, Sally Huff of Leland and Edith Brown of Bolivia.

Faye Snipes Clodfelter, 81, of Oak Island
Mrs. Faye Snipes Clodfelter, 81, of Oak Island, died Sunday, January 28, 2001, at Liberty Commons in Wilmington.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 10, at Oak Island Presbyterian Church, where she was a member and deacon.
Mrs. Clodfelter was born April 9, 1919, in Cameron, a daughter of the late Alfred Marshall and Bessie McLaurin Snipes, and moved to Oak Island, in 1978.
She retired in 1978, following 27 years service as industrial nurse with Dixie Furniture Company Inc. of Lexington.
She was a 1936 graduate of Cameron High School and a 1940 graduate of Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing.
She served as chairman or vice-chairman of the N.C. Statewide Safety Conference for seven years, served as secretary-treasurer and board member of Tri-County Furniture Safety Association for 12 years, and served as secretary-treasurer and board member of Central Piedmont Safety Council.
She was a former member of the American Board of Occupational Health Nurses, American Occupational Health Nurses Association, N.C. Nurses Association and Lexington Nurses Association, and First United Methodist Church in Lexington.
She was the widow of Charles M. Clodfelter and is survived by a son, Reynolds Craig Clodfelter of Henderson; three daughters, Mrs. Sherry Pollard of Seabrook Island, S.C., Mrs. Janis Berg of Raleigh, and Mrs. Lil Conley of Wilmington: a brother, Alfred Marshall Snipes of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. Claire Lyons of Tobaccoville, Mrs. Kitty Collier of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Carolyn Warlick of Statesville; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
The family wishes to extend its gratitude to the people of Oak Island, St. Andrews Covenant Presbyterian Church and Liberty Commons for all of the kindnesses extended to her and the family.

Lewis was born May 8, 1908, in Bolivia, and was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy E. Lewis of Southport; a daughter, Betsy and husband Roger F. Lawrence of Morehead City; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Lewis of Bolivia; a sister, Atlee Ballard of Bolivia; five grandchildren; one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maudie Walton Lewis, and two sons, Dorman and Wayne Lewis.

Mary Allison Herring Watkins, 32, of Greensboro, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Wesley Long Hospital, Greensboro.
The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Peacock-Newnam Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Wayne Adkisson officiating.
Interment followed in Northwood Cemetery.

Ms. Watkins was born April 17, 1968, in Winston-Salem, was formerly employed with Sears Service Center in Greensboro, and attended Southport Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jones was born May 27, 1958, in Rochester, N.Y., and moved here in 1967, from Richmond, Va.
She was employed with the office of Joan Chestnut C.P.A., was a Sunday school teacher and G.A. leader at her church, and for many years, served as a Girl Scout leader.
She was a graduate of Brunswick Community College, where she was a member of the National Honor Society.
Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Kendall Allen Jones of the home; a son, Kendall Evan Jones of Raleigh; a daughter, Krystal deVaux Jones of Oak Island; her mother and step-father, Donnie and Moe Kirby of Southport; her father, Paul G. Dodge of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a sister, Karen deVaux Jones and husband, Kevin of Southport; maternal grandmother, Rae Fredericks of Southport; paternal grandmother, Doris Dodge of Brevard.

Mrs. Helen Zoschak Gray, 102, of Oak Island, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Ocean Trail Convalescent Center.
The funeral was conducted Monday in Yonkers, N.Y., with interment following in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Mrs. Gray was born November 5, 1898, in Yonkers, daughter of the late Vincent and Mary Pavilovsky Zoschak, and moved here in 1990.
She was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Yonkers, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southport.
Survivors include a son, William Gray of Yonkers; a daughter, Dorothy Gray Wayne of Oak Island; four grandchildren, Robert Wayne, Billy Gray, Jr., Christopher Gray and Colin Gray; eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers Edward and William Zoschak.

Woodrow Wilson Sullivan, Sr., 86, of Wilmington, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001.
Sullivan was born March 1, 1915, in Brunswick County, and was the son of the late Bailey and Winnie Estelle Padrick Sullivan.
He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Hudson Sullivan; two sons, Woodrow W. Sullivan, Jr. and wife, Sharon of Leland and Wade Bailey Sullivan of Wilmington; a daughter, Betty Sullivan Walters and husband Huxley of Southport; two sisters, Mae Lanier and Luella Smith, both of Wilmington; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, at Zion United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jim Reed and the Rev. Dennis Wright officiating.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Terry Wright, Eugene Maxton Skipper, Jr., Daniel Weatherington, Brian Ennis, Woodrow Wilson Sullivan, III and Jimmy Hudson.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Spencer, Aubrey Smith, P.J. Whitman, Ralph Ambrose and Hampton Henry.
