Mrs. Ruth Moore Jolley, 92, of Southport
Mrs. Ruth Moore Jolley, 92, of Ocean Trail Convalescent Center in Southport, died September 25, 2000, at her residence.
A native of Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late S.A. and Smithie Ann Moore.
She was the wife of the late Roy Carl Jolley and was preceded in death by a daughter, Jereline Jenkins.
Mrs. Jolley was a long-time member of Loray Baptist Church and, after moving here, attended First Baptist Church of Oak Island.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Ray Fulbright of Oak Island; a son-in-law, Bill Jenkins of Gastonia; a brother, Glen Moore of Granite Falls; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted by the Rev. John Bridges on Friday, at Gaston Memorial Park.

Mrs. Raymonde Senechal, 76, of Oak Island
Mrs. Raymonde Jeanne Senechal, 76, of Oak Island, died Thursday, September 28, 2000, at Ocean Trail Convalescent Center.
Memorial mass was celebrated at 9 a.m. Tuesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was a member, with Fr. Douglas Lawson officiating, followed by inurnment at sea.
Mrs. Senechal was born December 27, 1923, in Normandy, France, and moved here 18 years ago from Oakwood Village, Ohio.
She was a retired IBM data processor with Kroger Company in Solon, Ohio, and was a member of Brunswick County Humane Society and American Wildlife Federation.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Roger Senechal of the home; and a daughter, Sylvaine Senechal-Maloney and husband, Terry of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Linda Faye Stirewalt Breese, 58, of Oak Island, and Rockwell, died Saturday, September 30, 2000, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
She was born December 27, 1941, in Cabarrus County, daughter of Ralph Oscar Stirewalt and Ruth Easley Stirewalt.
She was a graduate of Landis High School and Rowan Technical College, and formerly was employed at VA Medical Center, Salisbury.
She worked at Wal-Mart in Southport.
She was a member of Phaniels Baptist Church.
Survivors beside her parents of Rockwell are her husband, Thomas A. Breese; two step-sons, Thomas Breese, Jr. of Johnson City, Tenn., and Curtis Breese of Raleigh; a daughter, Deborah W. Sager of Kannapolis; a step-daughter, Lizanne Breese of Johnson City, Tenn.; a brother, Buddy Stirewalt of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Heather Lynn Sager and Christopher Ryan Sager; one step-grandchild, Kara Breese.
Services were held today (Wednesday), at Phaniels Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael Taylor officiating.
Burial was at Carolina Memorial Park, Concord.

Jack Burgstresser, 42, Lakes resident
Jack (Gunnar) Burgstresser, 42, of Boiling Spring Lakes, died Saturday, September 30, 2000, at his residence.
He had been employed as a chef in various restaurants and country clubs.
Born January 7, 1958, in Phillipsburg, N.J., he was the son of the late Jack Burgstresser and Beverly and Charles Engel of Boiling Spring Lakes.
He was a 1976 graduate of Phillipsburg High School.
In addition to his mother and step-father, he is survived by two sisters, Jan Scerbo of Easton, Pa., and Joy Maczko of Phillipsburg, N.J.
Memorial services will be held at VFW Post 10400, Boiling Spring Lakes, on Thursday, October 5, at 3 p.m.

Howard Willis (Bill) Harris, 72, of Southport, died Sunday, October 1, 2000, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Peacock-Newnam Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Michael Ward officiating.
Military graveside rites will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Cape Fear Memorial Park.
Harris was born March 20, 1928, in Manteo, a son of the late Sylvanius Cantwell and Florence Willis Mann Harris, and moved here from Baltimore, Md., in 1983.
He was retired from the U. S. Coast Guard.
Following his Coast Guard retirement, for 15 years, he served as captain aboard Johns Hopkins University's oceanic research vessel, homeported in Annapolis, Md.
He was preceded in death in 1998 by a daughter, Linda Gail Harris, and is survived by his wife of 52 years, Loris English Harris of the home; a daughter, Billie Jean Meseke and husband, Richard of Westminster, Md.; a son, Howard Cantwell Harris and wife, Linda Miller-Harris of Key West, Fla.; two brothers, Charles Malcolm Harris of Manteo and Gregory Wayne Harris of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Mildred Irene Baldacci of Culpepper, Va.; three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Peacock-Newnam Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. this evening.

Samuel D. Sholar, 64, of Southport, died Sunday, December 3, 2000, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.
He was born October 22, 1936, in Pin Hook, son of the late Herbert Jerome and Mary McKoy Hulbert Sholar, and was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Sholar.
Sholar served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1962, with the rank of E-5.
Surviving are his friend, Doris Carter of the home; two sons, Elwood Sholar of Wilmington, and Wayne Sholar of Rocky Point; three daughters, Connie L. Furches of Wilmington; Sandra Palmer of Buckhead, Ga., and Elva Jane Nigoche of Chadbourn; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Roach of Leland, Lois Smith of Jacksonville, and Brenda Hulbert of Clinton.
Funeral services were held Friday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, Wilmington.

Lt. Cmdr. Floyd Ray Coburn, USN Ret., 74, of Hanahan, S.C., died Tuesday, December 5, 2000, at his home.
Funeral services were held Monday in Highland Park Baptist Church.
Burial with military honors followed in Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort.
Born October 28, 1926, in Martin County, he was a son of Joseph Griffin Coburn and Lela Ada Williams Coburn.
Coburn retired from the U.S. Navy and later, from CP&L as director of quality assurance, outage and reports at the Brunswick Nuclear Plant at Southport.
He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and a life member of Carolina Lodge 325 A.M. & F.M. He was a member of the U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Professional associations included Professional Quality Engineers, American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the N.C. Society of Engineers.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Poole Coburn of the home; three children, Tony Ray Coburn of Hendersonville, Rebecca Gail Coburn-Jones of Seattle, Wash., and Gary Wayne Coburn of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren.

Michael Thorsen Coleman, 50, of Chattanooga, Tenn., died Saturday, December 2, 2000, at his home.
Coleman grew up in Long Beach.
He was a 1968 graduate of Southport High School and a 1973 graduate of UNC-Wilmington, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.
He had been a resident of Chattanooga, for the past 13 years and was a construction engineer for Century 3 Inc.
He was preceded in death by his father, O. G. (Nick) Coleman.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Mangum Coleman of the home; a daughter, Heather Coleman Hicks and husband, Russell of Rocky Point; a son, Christopher Grant Coleman and wife Tracy of Ten Mile, Tenn,; his mother, Mary Thorsen Coleman of Wilmington; sisters, Cheryll Grant Coleman of Southport and Deborah Coleman Stephenson and husband, Oscar of Fuquay-Varina; grandmother, Eloise Coleman of Wilmington; granddaughter, Madison Kenan Barnes Hicks; four nephews and one niece.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 15, at Southport Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bob Childs officiating.

Inez C. Blair, 78, of Southport, died Tuesday, December 5, 2000, at Ocean Trail Convalescent Center.
The funeral was held Friday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, conducted by the Rev. Warren Owens.
Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
Miss Blair was a native of Chatham County, a member of West End United Methodist Church and secretary of the Sunday school.
She was owner-operator of Chatham Coffee Shop and retired from A. J. Schneierson & Sons.
Surviving are sisters, Frances B. Pickett and husband, Albert of Siler City, Ruby B. Snyder and husband Bill of Oak Island and Zadie B. Myers of Greensboro; several nieces and nephews.
