MAIDEN - LaDonna Nichole McElroy, 21, of Hudson Chapel Road, died July 27, 2000, at her residence.
Born Aug. 16, 1978, in Lebanon, Va., she was a daughter of David Allen McElroy of Bristol, Tenn., and Donna Booher McCown of Catawba.
She was a waitress.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include two daughters, Destiny Marie McElroy and Ashley Nichole Duncan of the home; a brother, Kevin McElroy of Catawba; a stepbrother, Daniel Shane McCown of Bristol, Tenn.; a stepsister, Jaima Dawn McCown of Bristol, Tenn.; a stepfather, Danny McCown of Catawba; a paternal grandmother, Marion Gibson of Bristol, Va.; a maternal grandmother, Betsy Chafin of Catawba; and step-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Duncan of Catawba.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Larry Cooley at 11 a.m. Monday at Burke Mortuaries.
Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight.
SUE K. BERRY
Sue Keller Berry, 99, of Sixteenth Avenue, NE, died July 28, 2000, at Hickory Manor after a period of declining health.
Born Aug. 21, 1900, in Caldwell County, she was a daughter of the late William P. and Elizabeth Ann Storms Keller.
A member of New Hope Baptist Church, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Berry; and two daughters, Nadine H. Surrett and Mary B. Stout.
Survivors include three sons, Jim H. Berry and Clarence R. Berry of Hickory, and Glenn J. Berry of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Dale Watts at 11 a.m. Tuesday at her church.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will be at Hickory Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday.
BLAINE E. LIVINGSTON
MAIDEN - Blaine Eugene Livingston, 76, of Union Street, died July 28, 2000, at Pellcare of Hickory.
Born Feb. 10, 1924, in Jonesboro, Tenn., he was a son of the late Lawrence W. and Kate Bricker Livingston.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a machine operator at Desota Furniture.
Survivors include his wife, Aileen Shook Livingston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Miriam and Richard Fox of Maiden, and Marsha and Buck Shaw of Charlotte; two brothers, Wayne Livingston of Johnson City, Tenn., and Daniel Livingston; two sisters, Daisy Walters of Johnson City, Tenn., and Violet Blackburn of Charlotte; a stepmother, Elizabeth Livingston of Jonesboro, Tenn.; two grandchildren; a step-grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Jack Harris at 3 p.m. Monday at Goodin-Drum Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Maiden City Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 tonight.
HATTIE C. HUFFMAN
FALLSTON - Hattie Penidora Canipe Huffman, 78, of Tate Boulevard, SE, formerly of Toluca, died July 26, 2000, at Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation.
Born Dec. 22, 1921, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Rome and Jane Pruett Canipe.
A homemaker, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Sain; her second husband, Leonard Huffman; two sons, Edgar Sain and Wayne Huffman; three brothers, Roscoe Smith, Rance Smith and Tommy Canipe; two sisters, Nellie Hendrick and Lola Swink; and two grandsons, Jerry Bradshaw and Larry Bradshaw.
Survivors include a son, Bobby Sain of Casar; two daughters, Katherine Hoyle of Hickory, and Nancy Lackey of Taylorsville; a brother, Junior Canipe of Lawndale; two sisters, Mozelle Warlick of Casar, and Leona Smith of Lawndale; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Saturday.
Burial was in Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Evelyn Kathleen Lail Bostian, 77, of West 12th St., Newton, died July 28 at Hospice of Catawba Valley.
Born in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Katherine Huffman Lail.
She was a retired shipping clerk in the furniture industry and was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover.
Survivors include a son, Jim Bostian of Claremont; daughter Mary Bentley of Conover; sister Faye Sigmon of Conover; brother Ray Lail of Salisbury; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held at Concordia Lutheran by the Rev. Donald Oldenburg; burial was at Catawba Memorial Park.
Drum Funeral Home served the family.

Born Oct. 23, 1922, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Katherine Huffman Lail.
A member of Concordia Lutheran Church, she retired as a shipping clerk in the furniture industry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Bostian.

MORGANTON - Ann Cornwell Patton, 64, of Woodland Place, died July 29, 2000, at her residence after a period of declining health.
Born Dec. 14, 1935, in Shelby, she was a daughter of George Thomas Cornwell of Morganton, and the late Mary Louise Huffman.
A member of the First United Methodist Church in Morganton, she was a graduate of Morganton High School and Wake Forest University.
She was a charter member of the Morganton Service League, a past trustee of the Burke County Library Board, and a member of the Huffman-Cornwell Foundation.
She was preceded in death by a step-mother, Louise Grill Cornwell; and a step-daughter, Ann Pitts Patton Joyce.
Survivors, in addition to her father, include her husband, Frank C. Patton, Jr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Cornwell Avery and Amy Schoenen of Morganton; a daughter and son-in-law, Anna and William Avery-Leagan of Fuquay-Varina; a stepson and step-daughter-in-law, Frank C. “Pat” and Susan Reiser Patton, III of Asheville; a step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Margaret P. and Peter Hampson of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara C. and Jerry Norvell and Mary Louise C. and J.H. McCombs of Morganton; a step-brother and step-sister-in-law, Charles and Peggy Grill of Varnville, S.C.; a step-sister and step-brother-in-law, Renee G. and Jack Gravel of Valdese; two grandchildren, Juliana Cornwell Avery of Fuquay-Varina and Thomas Avery of Morganton; six step-grandchildren, Daniel Joyce, David Joyce, Matthew Patton and William Patton of Asheville, and Christopher Hampson and Ian Hampson of Charleston, S.C.; and a number of nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Robert E. Roach today at Forest Hill Cemetery.
A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at her church.
The family will remain at the church after the service.

GASTONIA - Beverly Joan Bockhop Lapp, 65, died July 28, 2000, at Catawba Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dean Lapp; and a grandson, Theodore Marion.
Survivors include a son, Robert Lapp of Conover; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Matthew Sytek of Newton, and Lori and Kevin Marion of Racine, Wis.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today at Tri-City Baptist Church in Conover.

MORGANTON - Annie Lou Orders Carswell, 93, of Carbon City Road, died July 29, 2000, at Grace Heights after a period of declining health.
Born April 30, 1907, in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph H. and Lillie Morrison Orders.
She was the last surviving charter member of Calvin Heights Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, B.F. “Festus” Carswell; four brothers, Gorman Orders, Frank Orders, Melvin Orders and Arthur Orders; and two sisters, Eula Leonard and Ella Mae Stamey.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Wilbert and Joanne Carswell of Morganton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Aileen Lowdermilk and Nancy and Roland “Dude” Lambert of Morganton; seven grandchildren, Trula Baker, Bud Lowdermilk, Sandy Lonon, Alan Lambert, Jeff Carswell, Lisa Metcalf and Ann Morris; and six great-grandchildren, Kristen Lonon, Matthew Lambert, Sloan Lowdermilk, Kaitlin Carswell, Spencer Lambert and Keri Jo Carswell.
The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Ralph Gouge and T.B. Deese at 11 a.m. today at her church.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
