ALBERT O. HARMON
BOONE - Albert O. Harmon, 71, of Hickory, died Aug. 2, 2000, at Oteen Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Asheville.
Born May 20, 1929, in Watauga County, he was a son of the late Coy W. and Della Oakes Harmon.
A Baptist, he retired as a clerk from the Watauga County A.S.C.S. office and served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dwight Harmon and Dean Harmon; and a sister, JoAnn Triplett.
Survivors include three brothers, Roy Harmon of Vilas, Ed Harmon of Zionville and Odell Harmon of Lynchburg, Va.; five sisters, Janice Hartley of Deep Gap, Hazel Isaacs of Sugar Grove, Mary Lynn Hodges of Lenoir, Peggy Campbell of Zionville, and Lou Ella Dotson of Trade, Tenn.; and a number of nephews and nieces.
The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Herbert McCoy and Gilbert Ward at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hampton Funeral Service.
Burial will be in Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens in Boone.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 tonight.
Memorials may be made to Beech Creek Cemetery Fund, c/o Lisa Harmon, P.O. Box 273, Sugar Grove, N.C. 28679.

ISABEL C. MORRISON
WINSTON-SALEM - Isabel “Issy” Cline Morrison, 80, of Newton, died Aug. 1, 2000, at Catawba Memorial Hospital in Hickory.
Born June 26, 1920, in Newton, she was a daughter of the late John M. and Bertie Hilton Cline.
A member of First United Methodist Church in Newton, she was a graduate of Brevard College.
She was preceded in death by her husband, M. Sidney Morrison; and a brother, John Macon Cline, Jr.
A memorial service will be conducted by the Revs. Dan Martin and Renee Lewis at 2 p.m. Saturday at her church.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

ALFRED WRIGHT
The Rev. Alfred Wright, 69, of First Street, SE, died Aug. 2, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Born May 17, 1931, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Dili and Susie Parks Wright.
A member of Morning Star First Baptist Church, he was the church's associate pastor.
He retired from Bryant Supply after 40 years of service and served in the U.S. Marines.
He also was a member of St. James Lodge 20, Free and Accepted Ancient Yorkrite Masons and other committees.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dili Wright, Jr.; and five sisters, Bertha Brown, Katie Mae Williams, Adelaide Evans, Helen Carouthers and Cassie Bell Banks.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Thomas Wright; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Alfred James Wright, Karl and Helen B. Thomas of Hickory, and Abraham P. Wright of Little Rock, Ark.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Callie W. Brown of Wicita, Kan., and Althea Y. and Frederick Hargrove of Charlotte; a sister and brother-in-law, Bridgette and Reggie Saddler of Vale; a maternal grandmother, Lula Banks of Hickory; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a number of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Webster E. Lytle at 4 p.m. Monday at his church.
Burial will be in Ridgeview Cemetery.
The family will be at the church from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Allen Mitchell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WILLA W. JOHNSON
LENOIR - Willa Dean Woods Johnson, 70, of Eastwood Park, died Aug. 3, 2000, at Caldwell County Hospice.
Born Nov. 7, 1929, in Akron, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Granville W. and Otie Mae Setzer Woods.
A member of First Baptist Church of Whitnel, she retired from the Caldwell County Tax Office.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Doris Dean Johnson.
Survivors include her husband, Curtis L. Johnson; a son, Gary L. Johnson of Lenoir; a daughter, Lisa Winkler of Lenoir; three brothers, Max Woods, Travis Woods and Douglas Woods of Lenoir; four sisters, Doris Pope, Barbara Secreast, Betty Witherspoon and Marilyn Smith of Lenoir; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. James Jernigan at 2 p.m. Sunday at Whitnel First Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Hal Pope, Ronnie Secreast, Bill Barlow, Preston Woods, Buddy Carson and Tim Alley.
The family will be at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 tonight.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Whitnel, 1201 Connelly Springs Road, SW, Lenoir, N.C. 28645; or Caldwell County Hospice, 902 Kirkwood St., NW, Lenoir, N.C. 28645.

DONALD L. ARDREY
LINCOLNTON - Donald Lewis Ardrey, 60, of Ninth Avenue, NW, in Hickory, died Aug. 3, 2000.
Born Oct. 21, 1939, in Perry County, he was a son of the late Stanley and Antionette Reiber Ardrey.
He was a manager of an agricultural business.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy M. Ardrey; three sons, Todd D. Ardrey of Loudonville, Ohio, Tyle L. Ardrey of Cherryville and Trent C. Ardrey of Medina, Ohio; four brothers, Verne Ardrey and Carl Ardrey of Rushville, Ohio, Lee Ardrey of Baltimore, Ohio, and Phillip Ardrey of Thornville, Ohio; two sisters, Wilma Hugus of Wyoming and Rose Stoner of Thornville, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Tyler Ardrey, Tayler Ardrey, Samantha Ardrey, Hunter Ardrey and Bailey Ardrey.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Ohio.
Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, c/o Betty Potts, 2638 Lee Lawing Road, Lincolnton, N.C. 28092.

WAYNE F. HAMPTON
Wayne Ferninand Hampton, 43, of Dundee Court in Maiden, died Aug. 1, 2000, at his residence after a period of declining health.
Born July 16, 1957, in Atlanta, Ga., he was a son of Ollie Revels Hampton of Statesville and the late Fred Hampton.
A member of Elshaddi Full Gospel Church, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Faye Hampton.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include five sons, Tracy Gore and Wayne Gore of Greensboro, Wayne Hampton, Jr. of Charlotte, Kendrick Hampton of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Troy Gore of Hickory; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles Hampton of Denver, Colo., Gregory and Lizzie Hampton of Atlanta, Ga., and Kenny Hampton of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and John Coppedge of Colorado Springs, Colo.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Allen Mitchell Funeral Home.
The family will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

RUBY M. HEDRICK
CONOVER - Ruby Miller Hedrick, 79, of Bolick Road in Claremont, died Aug. 3, 2000, at Frye Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.
Born March 7, 1921, in Stanley County, she was a daughter of Poly C. and Minnie Isenhour Miller.
A lifelong member of Bethel Lutheran Church, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Wilson Hedrick Sr.; a son, Floyd W. Hedrick, Jr.; and a brother, Paul Miller.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice H. Ervin of Claremont; two sisters, Ruth Null of Conover and Reba Bridges of Claremont; six grandchildren, Tim Hedrick of Stony Point, Scotty Hedrick and Kenny Hedrick of Claremont, Renee Lee of Maiden, Jeff Ervin and Jody Ervin of Catawba; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Craig Schultz at 3 p.m. Sunday at her church.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Ervin, Jody Ervin, Scotty Hedrick, John Hedrick and Scott Hedrick.
The family will be at Drum Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 tonight and at the residence of Janice H. Ervin, U.S. 70 in Claremont, at other times.

VERONICA G. THOMAS
LENOIR - Veronica Grzegorek Thomas, 51, of Pinnacle Court, died Aug. 2, 2000, at her residence.
Born Feb. 10, 1949, in Buffalo, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Riccitelli Grzegorek.
A member of Smith Memorial Methodist Church and the Methodist Women Club, she was an LPN at Gateway Nursing Home.
Survivors include her husband, Franklin Thomas; two sons, Franklin Gerrod Thomas and Douglas Anthony Thomas of Lenoir; two daughters, Freda Reid of Hickory and Maria Cuthbertson of Morganton; two sisters, Frances Nickerbocker of Vassar, Mich. and Elizabeth Schiefla of Buffalo, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and a goddaughter.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Miller Carter at 3 p.m. Sunday at her church.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will be at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 tonight.

TED K. CROUCH
Ted Kenneth Crouch, 67, of Ridgeway Apartments in Taylorsville, died Aug. 3, 2000, at his residence.
Born Feb. 10, 1933, in Alexander County, he was a son of the late Julius S. and Cora Lee Kirby Crouch.
A member of Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, he retired as a furniture designer and upholsterer. A member of American Legion Post 48, he was an artillery sergeant with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Crouch; and a sister, Tula Hull.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Kipley Crouch of Hickory; a daughter, Debra Crouch Nappier of Hickory; two brothers, Wayne Crouch of Hickory and Floyd Crouch of Hudson; four sisters, Connie Blackburn, Tressie Hudler, Annie Ruth Wike and Glenda Kanupp of Hickory; a grandson, Josh Nappier of Hickory; and three granddaughters, Brandy Nappier, Jennifer Nappier of Hickory and Kelly Crouch of Hudson.
A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. Jesse Rushing on Aug. 12 at his church.

LEMA G. COFFEY
LENOIR - Lema Lou Greene Coffey, 85, of Congress Street, died Aug. 3, 2000, at Caldwell County Hospice.
Born Jan. 16, 1915, in Caldwell County, she was a daughter of the late Harlan and Lou Ellen Bolick Greene.
A member of Globe Baptist Church, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bealer Coffey; a son, Bealer Wayne Coffey; a daughter, Margaret Ellen Williams; a brother, Claude Greene; and a sister, Alma Hartley.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Coffey of Hudson and Larry Coffey of Granite Falls; three daughters, Dare Austin, Doris Bumgarner and Hazel Johnson of Granite Falls; 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of great- great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held at a later date.
