FALLSTON - Kelly Ray “Gut” Hughes, 30, of Roger Hill Road, died Aug. 9, 2000.
Born Aug. 14, 1969, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Chevious F. and Maybelle Bolick Hughes.
Survivors include three brothers, Bruce Hughes of Shelby, Tom Hughes of Connelly Springs, and Randy Hughes of Hildebran; and three sisters, Connie Parker of Vale, and Amy Hughes and Becky Craig of Connelly Springs.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Roger Webb at 2 p.m. Sunday at Stamey Funeral Home.
Burial will be in North Brook Baptist Church Cemetery.

CAROLYN B. ROGERS
STATESVILLE - Carolyn Boggs Rogers, 58, of Sorrell Lane in Troutman, died Aug. 10, 2000, at her residence.
Born Feb. 18, 1942, in Iredell County, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Estelle Dagenhart Boggs.
She was employed by Sara Lee (Bali).
Survivors include her husband, Robert “Bobby” Rogers; a son, Larry Campbell of Troutman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Traci and Curtis Sherrill of Troutman, and Melinda and David Cooper of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Joni Rogers of the home; two brothers, Butch Boggs and Dan Boggs of Statesville; a sister, Barbara Braddock of Hickory; two grandchildren, Kristopher Cooper and Emily Cooper of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three step-grandchildren, Brian Cooper and Jennifer Cooper of Statesville and Courtney Sherrill of Troutman; an uncle, David Dagenhart of Harrisburg; two aunts, Mary Hooks of Lexington, and Hilda Brower of Ashboro; and a number of nephews and nieces.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Jamie Fox at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Iredell Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Greg Rogers, Bob Ostwalt, Daniel Boggs, Robert Boggs, Wilson Riddle, Wayne Nixon and Tommy Ostwalt.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight and at the residence of Traci Sherrill, 274 Autumn Leaf Road, Troutman, at other times.

FRANCES B. SIGMAN
Frances Burns Sigman, 73, of Overland Lane in Vale, formerly of N.C. 127 South, died Aug. 11, 2000, at her residence.
Born Oct. 11, 1926, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Edward C. and Elva Justice Burns.
A member of Sardis Lutheran Church, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Nelson Daniel Sigman, Jr. and Bruce Franklin Sigman of Hickory; two daughters, Karen Sigman and Sharon Rhoney of Vale; a stepdaughter, Jean Chucci of Newton; a sister, Marian Burns of Hickory; four grandsons, Christopher Waldon, Joshua Rhoney and Reginald Rhoney of Vale, and Justin Sigman of Hickory; two granddaughters, Tasha Brittain of Vale, and Karrie Lail of Hickory; a step-grandson, Anthony Chucci of Hickory; two step-granddaughters, Ashley Hartsoe and Jennifer Smith of Hickory; four great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Robert Howard at 2 p.m. Sunday at her church.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

HENRY D. SHORT
MOCKSVILLE - Henry Winter Davis Short, 76, formerly of Mocksville, died Aug. 9, 2000, at the Lutheran Nursing Home in Salisbury.
Born Aug. 20, 1923, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late Samuel Smith and Mabel Davis Short.
A Presbyterian, he was an active independent insurance agent.
A member of Mocksville Masonic Lodge A.F. and A.M. 134, he was an Eighth Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War and a prisoner-of-war in Germany.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank H. Short.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Sam S. and Ruth Short, Jr. of Mocksville; two sisters and brother-in-law, Betsy Whitley of Atlanta, Ga., and Mabel S. and Royall C. Jones of Salisbury; and a number of nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Neal Carter at 4 p.m. today in Rose Cemetery.
The family will be at the residence of Sam and Ruth Short, 370 Sain Road, Mocksville.

BOBBY D. CORN
ARDEN - Bobby D. Corn, 65, of Pinners Cove Road, died Aug. 8, 2000, at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va.
He was the founder and publisher of IWANNA, Inc. of Asheville, and Greenville, S.C., and founder of IWANNA, Inc. of Hickory.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Haden Corn; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Deborah McCart of Asheville, Valerie and Ray Hudson of Greenville, S.C., and Robin and Mark Graham of Asheville; five grandchildren, Austin Hudson, Tyler Hudson, Dylan McCart, Marshall Hudson and Jordan Graham; a stepmother, Clara Corn of Hendersonville; a sister, Brenda Corn Laney of Asheville; and a number of nephews and nieces.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Arden Presbyterian Church.

Brady “Ed” Edward Spry, 45, died Aug. 11, 2000, at Frye Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 6, 1955, in Rowan County, he was a son of Charles D. and Lena Mae Champion Spry of the home.
A former member of the Hickory Jaycees, he was an accountant for Hickory Springs.
Survivors include two brothers and sister-in-law, Monty Spry of Connelly Springs, and Randy and Rose Spry of Asheville; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Bruce James of Mocksville, and Kristy and Calvin of Swink of Connelly Springs.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Ron Davis at 11 a.m. Sunday at Catawba Funeral Home.

JESSIE L. ALDRIDGE
Jessie Lee Aldridge, 72, of Newton, died Aug. 12, 2000, at Brian Center East after a period of declining health.
Born March 23, 1928, in Watauga County, he was a son of the late Lewis D. and Bertha Moody Aldridge.
A member of Startown First Baptist Church, he retired from Sherrills Furniture.
He was a former owner and operator of Shug's Service Station in Long View.
He was preceded in death by three wives, Evelyn Clark Aldridge, Dorthy Wycoff Aldridge and Virginia Bridges Aldridge; a brother, Lewis Aldridge; and three sisters, Lora Murry, Jenny Ellis and Charlotte Brown.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Gene Starr and Sandra and Daniel DeFrank of Newton; three brothers, Joe Aldridge of Rhodhiss, Ralph Aldridge and Rom Aldridge of Boone; a sister, Essie Justice of Lenoir; three grandchildren, Matthew Starr, Joshua DeFrank and Elaine Lutz; and a great-granddaughter, Jessica Lutz.

FALLSTON - Mary Virginia Williams Ross, 94, of Shaire Center in Lenoir, died Aug. 11, 2000, at the Shaire Center.
Born Nov. 1, 1905, in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late M.S. and Nancy Ella Willis Williams.
A member of Fallston Baptist Church, she served in the Baptist Women, Fallston Women's Club, the Home Demonstration Club and was a Sunday school teacher at the church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Osborn Ross, Sr.; two brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, George and Marilyn Ross, Jr. of Charlotte; three daughters and a son-in-law, Alice R. Austin of Lenoir, and Betty R. Stewart of Roxboro, and Jean and Dr. W.M. Coward of Greensboro; a sister, Ethel Watkins of Macon, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Scott Norton and Bruce Rabon at 2 p.m. today at her church.

HAROLD D. ALLISON
Harold D. Allison, 70, of Sixth Street, NE, died Aug. 11, 2000, at Brian Center in Viewmont.
Born May 4, 1930, in Elvaston, Ill., he was a son of the late Thomas S. and Henrietta Leiser Allison.
A member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, he retired as a product manager from Hickory Springs Inc.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Allison, Thomas Allison and George Allison.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Owen Allison; three sons, Ryan Allison of Wilmington, Jeff Allison of Kansas City, Kan., and James Allison of Naperville, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Sarah Allison of Richardson, Texas, and Patricia Allison of Macomb, Ill.; two grandsons, Kyle Allison of Winston-Salem, and Evan Allison of Naperville, Ill.; and three granddaughters, Elizabeth Allison of Winston-Salem, Meredith Allison of Wilmington, and Alia Allison of Naperville, Ill.
A memorial service will be conducted by Pastor Weldon Sheets and Vicar Vickie Powell at 2 p.m. Monday at his church.
