JAMES S. PERKINS
James Stanley Perkins, 64, of Sixteenth Street, NE, died Aug. 12, 2000, at Catawba Memorial Hospital.
Born May 11, 1936, in Fayetteville, he was a son of Claudia Blevins Perkins of Burnsville and the late Stanley Perkins.
He was a furnace operator for General Electric.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Betty Hughes Perkins; a son, Casey Perkins of Hickory; two daughters, Lisa Rowe of Newton and Dawn Perkins of the home; a stepson, Danny Hughes of Burnsville; a stepdaughter, Cathy Wilson of Newton; a sister, Keta Brown of Burnsville; two half sisters, Marlyn Perkins and Carolyn Perkins of Marion; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Jesse D. Hamlett, II at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hickory Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory.
Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Wilson, Ricky Brown, Noel Brown, Chad Perkins, Casey Perkins and Dawn Perkins.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 tonight.
LEOLA E. MILLER
LENOIR - Leola Eggers Miller, 75, of Dakota Street, Kannapolis, died Aug. 11, 2000.
Born Nov. 30, 1924, in Watauga County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas O. and Della Elizabeth Penley Eggers.
A member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lenoir, she was a nutrition aid for social services in Caldwell County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Donald Miller; and a sister, Josephine Roberts.
Survivors include a son, Michael Lee Miller of Lenoir; a daughter, Tamara Haynes of Kannapolis; a brother, Carson Eggers of Blowing Rock; a sister, Jean Davis of Lemon Springs; a grandchild; and a great- grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Jeff Davis at 11 a.m. today in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be the staff of Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home.
JOHN H. SIGMON
MORGANTON - John Henry Sigmon, 90, of Britthaven Nursing Home, died Aug. 11, 2000, at Britthaven Nursing Home.
Born July 28, 1910, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Robert L. and Annabell Reinhardt Sigmon.
A member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church E.L.C.A., in Hickory, and a graduate of Morristown High School in Morristown, Tenn., he worked for Hickory Printing Company from 1945 until he retired in 1981.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lottye Seitz Sigmon.
A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Craig Saltzer at 11 a.m. today in his church cemetery.

WALTER C. MUNDAY
Walter Clay Munday, 71, of Thirteenth Avenue, SW, died Aug. 14, 2000, at Valdese General Hospital.
Born June 23, 1929, in Ashe County, he was a son of the late Thomas C. and Alma Michael Munday.
A member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church in Mountain View, he was employed by Overnight Transportation.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he earned two bronze service stars and a purple heart.
Survivors include his wife, Nina Wilson Munday; a son and daughter- in-law, Allen and Belinda Munday of Cornelius; a daughter and son-in-law, Michele and James McAdams of Hickory; two brothers, John Munday of Hickory, and Ed Munday of Baltimore, Md.; a grandson, Tucker Munday of Cornelius; and a granddaughter, Sarah Munday of Cornelius.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Gordon Benton at 4 p.m. Thursday at his church.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park.

Daisy S. Canipe, 87, of Cajah Mountain Road in Hudson, formerly of Hickory, died Aug. 14, 2000, at Camelot Nursing Home after a period of declining health.
Born Jan. 8, 1913, in Caldwell County, she was a daughter of the late Jerdon and Cora Teague Sparks.
A member of First Baptist Church in Hildebran, she retired from Valdese Manufacturing Company.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.T. Bryson; and second husband, Carrol Canipe.
Survivors include a son, J.R. Bryson of Hudson; a daughter, Jean Annette Barnhardt of Concord; two sisters, Alice Starnes of Granite Falls, and Thelma Looper of Drexel; two grandsons, Jonathan Edmisten of Concord, and Ronnie Edmisten of Cherokee; eight granddaughters, Vivian Whitmire of Harrisburg, Cindy Alexander of Monroe, Carolyn Thomas of Rock Hill, S.C., Linda Cairithers of Charlotte, Sue Rodrigues, Toree Barnhardt of Concord, Sassy Hagler and Angela Roger of York, S.C.; and four great-grandchildren.

MORGANTON - Millard Lee Norman, 81, of U.S. 64, died Aug. 14, 2000, at his residence after a period of declining health.
Born March 18, 1919, in Burke County, he was a son of the late Vester L. and Lillie Mae Denton Norman.
A member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, he retired from Henredon Furniture after 35 years of service.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Norman and Clarence Norman; and two sisters, Jane Poteat and Vernie Hunter.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Reynolds Norman; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Charlie Brown, Vesta and I.V. Ball and Rebecca and Mark Callahan of Morganton and Sylvia Norman of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two brothers, Vance Norman and Lewis Norman of Morganton; two sisters, Bonnie Mull of Rutherford College, and Stella Webb of Drexel; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

EDWARD R. HUFFMAN
LENOIR - Edward Roosevelt Huffman, 84, of Cedar Rock Circle, died Aug. 14, 2000, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Asheville.
Born Feb. 12, 1916, in Konnarock, Va., he was a son of the late William R. and Duclia Pennington Huffman.
A member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church, he was a church elder. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a watch repairman for Tuttle Jewelry.
He was preceded in death by a son; a daughter; two brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Jettie Pennington Huffman; two sons, Richard Huffman of Nashville, Tenn., and Dan Huffman of Mouth of Wilson, Va.; three daughters, Retha Huffman Nuckles of Lenoir, Charlotte Huffman Sayler of Konnarock, Va., and Charlotte Huffman Sayler of Hagerstown, Md.; two brothers, Ernest “Doc” Huffman of Damascus, Va., and Jack Huffman of Konnarock, Va.; five sisters, Ella Mae Taylor, Vivian Adams and Naomi Boone of Konnarock, Va., Bernice Priest of Gauley Bridge, W.Va., and Peggy Steele of Lenoir; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted by Pastors Garland Day and David Borton at 11 a.m. Thursday at his church.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Azen Cemetery in Konnarock.

MORGANTON - Ethel “Bibi” Johnson Cook, 57, of Conley Road, died Aug. 14, 2000, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
Born in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late James E. and Margaret Sparks Johnson.
A member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Otis Spencer Cook; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeraldine and Bobby Street of Morganton; two brothers, David Johnson and Floyd Johnson of Morganton; two sisters, Dorothy Costner of Morganton, and Mabel Carswell of Louisville, Ky.; two grandchildren, Misty Street and J.D. Street; and a number of nephews and nieces.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Donald Lovelace at 2 p.m. today at her church.

Perry Ralph Rader, 81, of Newton, died Aug. 14, 2000, at Catawba Memorial Hospital.
Born July 20, 1919, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late William P. and Mary Linney Poovey Rader.
He retired from Stedman Hosiery Mill after 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Elizabeth Starr Rader; second wife, Dorothy Withers Rader; and a brother, Woodrow Wilson Rader.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Mary Jane Wyant of Newton, and Carol Holder of Maiden; four sisters, Mary Sigmon of Conover, Margaret Moose of Newton, Willie Sue Raley of Taylorsville, and Jean Harris of Gaithersburg, Md.; four step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Born Feb. 25, 1933, in Alexander County, he was a son of the late Edward and Mettie Robinson Isenhour.
A member of Shiloh Lutheran Church, he was a self-employed painter.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Isenhour; and three sisters, Roselee Fox, Eva Davis and Allie Isenhour.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Bolick Isenhour; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Becky Isenhour of Taylorsville; a daughter, Linda I. Scarbrough of Bethlehem; a brother, Hayden Isenhour of Charlotte; a sister, Mary Duncan of Hickory; four grandchildren, Randy Scarbrough, Jody Scarbrough, Shea Huffman and Amy Scarbrough; three great-grandchildren, Brayden Scarbrough, Brianna Scarbrough and Sabrina Scarbrough; two step-grandchildren, Libby Brown and Gary Brown; and five step-great-grandchildren, Allison Brown, Ragan Brown, Hunter Brown, Josh Wilson and Caleb Wilson.
