RUSSELL B. NORMAN
LENOIR - Russell Bradford Norman, 71, of Merriman Street, NW, died Aug. 14, 2000, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.
Born May 14, 1929, in Harlan County, Ky., he was a son of the late Oscar and Lula Napier Norman.
A Baptist, he retired from Bernhardt Furniture Industries Plant 7.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Elaine Norman; and a sister, Vandetta Odett.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Greene Norman; a son, Larry W. Norman of Hudson; two daughters and a son-in-law, Diane and Walter Wayne Nelson of Gamewell, and Brenda Norman Triplett of Lenoir; a brother, James W. Norman of Phenix City, Ala.; a sister, Kathleen Burton of Marmet, W.Va.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Dewey Bristol at 11 a.m. Thursday at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Zacks Fork Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Norman, Wayne Nelson, Jeremy Norman, Brad Nelson, Tyler Norman and Greg Nelson.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 tonight.
MARIAN J. KELLER
LENOIR - Marian Jean Keller, 61, of Tallent Court in Sherrills Ford, formerly of Playmore Beach Road, died Aug. 14, 2000, at Frye Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 8, 1938, in Avery County, she was a daughter of the late Roger and Alva Sifford Barker.
A member of Worship Point Baptist Church, she retired from the textile industry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Keller; a stepson, Eugene Keller; two brothers, Joe Barker and Richard Barker; and two sisters, Delma Church and Versie Barker.
Survivors include a daughter, Lorena Keller of Hickory; two stepdaughters and a step-son-in-law, Frances Matthis of Lenoir, and Margaret and Arlie Clawson of Hudson; four brothers, Norman Barker of Eddyville, Ore., Cecil Barker of Lenoir, Wayne Barker of Morganton, and Larry Barker of Catawba; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Randy Gibson at 2 p.m. today at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Abundant Life Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery.
JOHN W. DULA, Jr.
LENOIR - John Wesley “Huck” Dula, Jr., 36, of Pennridge Road, died Aug. 13, 2000.
Born July 29, 1964, in Caldwell County, he was a son of Ruth Vaught Dula and the late John Wesley Dula, Sr.
A member of First Church of God in Lenoir, he was a former employee of Broyhill Furniture and was self- employed in lawn service.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a daughter, Bolon Patterson of the home; and four sisters, Nadene Dula of Charlotte, Rebecca Mona Dula of Hickory, Leslie Marshall Ferguson and Robin Horton of Lenoir.
The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Venoy Pearson and Jeris K. Parsons at 4 p.m. today at his church.
Burial will be in Harpertown Community Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be his friends.

CONOVER - Paul William Reinhardt, 80, of Kingston, Tenn., formerly of Oak Ridge, Tenn., died Aug. 14, 2000, at the Roane Medical Center in Harriman, Tenn.
Born Feb. 5, 1920, in Hickory, he was a son of the late Clarence and Mabel Miller Reinhardt.
A charter member of Grace Lutheran Church and Three Rivers Ramblers Square Dancing Club, he retired as a physicist from Union Carbide Corporation X-10 Plant. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served as a lieutenant.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Terrisa Rockett Reinhardt.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Reinhardt; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Mary Ellen Reinhardt of Jonesborough, Tenn.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Steve Stuart of Simpsonville, S.C., and Sharon and David Graeflin of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Howard Reinhardt of Raleigh; two stepchildren, David Byrd and Carolyn McGill of Clinton, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, Charles Reinhardt and Paul Reinhardt of Jonesborough, Chad Stuart and Pam Ellenburg of Greenville, S.C., Jennifer Collier of Lebanon, Tenn., Matthew Ellis, Erich Graeflin, Anna Graeflin, Lei-Lei Graeflin and Pei-Pei Graeflin of Nashville, Tenn.; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted by Dr. Stephen Damos at 3:30 p.m. today at his church.

LENOIR - James Robert Riley, Jr., 69, of Orchard Drive, died Aug. 15, 2000, at Caldwell County Hospice.
Born April 17, 1931, in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late James R. and Edith McGee Riley Sr.
A former member of South Lenoir Church of God, he also was a member of the North Carolina National Guard and retired from Kopflex Inc.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Alan Riley; and a sister, Patricia Ann Riley.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Hawkins Riley; three sons, Larry Dean Riley, David Dwayne Riley of Baltimore, Md., and Richard Darrell Riley of Lenoir; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Gary Alan Volrath of Baltimore, Md., and Paula and David Leroy Baker, II of Beaufort, S.C.; two brothers, Paul Thurman Riley and Robert Lee Riley of Lenoir; a sister, Omma Jean Watson of Lenoir; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

WILLIAM E. BRYANT
LENOIR - William Ernest Bryant, 75, of Lenoir Health Care Center, died Aug. 10, 2000, at Lenoir Health Care Center.
Born Jan. 25, 1925, in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late John Russell Bryant and Minnie Katherine Sumpter.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he was a tool and die maker in the furniture industry.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Bryant; and three sisters, Annie Setzer, Ada Bostain and Lorraine Hollar.
Survivors include two daughters, Cecilia Jones of Jupiter, Fla., and Marcia Smith of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three brothers, Robert Bryant, Harold Bryant and Glen Bryant of Lenoir; two sisters, Faye Burrus of Booneville, and Helen McLean of Lenoir; three grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Bobby Brooks at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

MORGANTON - Clyde Alexander Denton, 72, of Burkemont Road, died Aug. 15, 2000, at Grace Hospital after a period of declining health.
Born Aug. 6, 1928, in Burke County, he was a son of the late Lincoln and Martha Miller Denton.
A member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, he was a deacon and the adult Sunday school class teacher.
A member of the American Legion, he worked as a bus mechanic with the Burke County School System for 24 years.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Joyce Chester; and a brother, Herbert Denton.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Huffman; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Leroy and Ruby Denton of Weaverville, and Wade Denton of Morganton; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Nina and Wilson Chapman of Morganton, Vergie and Gene Ray Swinson of Martinez, Ga., and Naomi Winchester of Greenville, S.C.; a former son-in-law and wife, Owen and Tomi Chester of Morganton; and a grandson, Josh Chester of Morganton.
The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Larry Cline and Alan Barlow at 11 a.m. today at his church.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by members of the Morganton Veterans Ceremonial Team.

Alex Montgomery King, 14, of Hickory, died Sept. 17, 2000, at Catawba Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 25, 1985, in Catawba County, he was a son of Turner and Joyce Rowe King.
A member of Bethel United Church of Christ, he was a ninth-grader at Fred T. Foard High School and a member of Boy Scout Troop 249.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bobby Lee Rowe.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a brother, C. Kyle King of Charlotte; a maternal grandmother, Shirley Teague of Hickory; a paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Hardy of Warrenton; a great-grandmother, Lola K. Rowe of Valdese; an uncle, Terry Teague of Hickory; and four aunts, Karen Summer of Boone, Nancy Coleman of Newton, Ann McLamb of Richmond, Va., and Emma Lou Taylor.
The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Jamie Fonville and Brad Spencer at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Healing Springs Church.

MORGANTON - Ruth Buchanan Derreberry, 79, of Salem Road, died Sept. 17, 2000, at Hospice Shytle House in Valdese, after a period of declining health.
Born Jan. 25, 1921, in Avery County, she was a daughter of the late Fonzer W. and Bertie Lee Franklin Buchanan.
She worked as a receptionist for 14 years at Broughton Hospital and retired after 17 years from Waldensian Bakery.
She also worked part- time for the Mull Oil Company.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernie Waycaster; and her second husband, J.D. Derreberry.
Survivors include two sons, Edward Waycaster of Icard, and Dennis Ray Waycaster of Morganton; three sisters, Earlene Phillips and Mable Owens of Avery County, and Virginia Lucas of Drexel; three grandchildren, Edward Joseph Waycaster of Stanley, Dennis Robert Waycaster of Ft. Carson, Colo., and Ashley Nicole Waycaster of White Springs, Fla.; and a great-grandchild, Kayla Dawn Waycaster of Stanley.
A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Dean Lavender at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Burke Memorial Park.
