MORGANTON - James D. Cook, 59, of Silver Trail, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at his residence.

Frances Yount Ingold
HICKORY - Frances Yount Ingold, 92, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at her residence.
Born Aug. 13, 1909, in Catawba County, she was a daughter to the late Davis Clingman Yount and Alpha McDwigher Yount.
She was co-owner of The Ingold Co. and was a member of Corinth Reformed United Church of Christ.
She graduated from Hickory, High School and attended Lenoir-Rhyne College.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Frank Bernard Ingold; a sister, Violet Yount Brannock; and a brother, Dr. Glenn O. Yount.
She is survived by six nieces and nephews and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
A graveside service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Oakwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert Thompson officiating.
Burial will follow.
The family will be at the home of James Brannock, a nephew, 223 Eighth Ave. N.W., Hickory.

Rachel P. Jokinen
DeLAND, Fla. - Rachel P. Jokinen, 93, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at The Florida Lutheran Retirement Center in DeLand.
Born in Ely, Minn., she was a retired registered nurse and a charter member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in DeLand.
Surviving are: a son, John Jokinen of Morganton; two daughters, Joyce Sims of Longwood, Fla., and Joan Tate of Orange Park, Fla.; a sister, Laura Peschel of Ely, Minn.; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 509 E. Pennsylvania Ave., DeLand, with the Rev. Byron W. White officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia-Flagler, Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, DeLand, or Florida Lutheran Retirement Center, DeLand.

Cameron Monroe, Sr.
VALDESE - Cameron Alexander Monroe, Sr., 63, of Church Street, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Asheville, following a lengthy illness.
Born June 23, 1938, in Burke County, he was a son of the late John Clifton Monroe and Eula Buchanan Monroe.
He was a United States Army veteran and a textile supervisor with Alba Waldensian Inc.
He was a member of East Valdese Baptist Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Betty Dale Monroe of the home; sons, Cameron Alexander Monroe, Jr. and Stephen Allen Monroe, both of Valdese; a stepson, Dennis Wise of Marianna, Fla.; a brother, Michael Monroe and wife, Inez, of Valdese; sisters, Claudia Berry and husband, Jerry, of Drexel, Mary Ellen Spicer and husband, Bud, and Miriam "Bayo" Drum and husband, J.P., both of Valdese; grandchildren, Clifton "Alex" Alexander Monroe and Derrick Thomas Monroe; a step-grandchild, Aaron Wise.
The funeral will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, with the Rev. Gary Garner officiating.
Interment will follow in Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery, Spruce Pine, with military rites by the American Legion.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.

Jimmy Bishop
CHESNEE, S.C. - James Dean "Jimmy" Bishop, 37, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at his home.
He was the son of Judi Caldwell Thomas and stepson of Edward A. Thomas of Morganton.
He was the brother of Brett and Kenn Thomas, both of Morganton, and Hope Thomas Attaway of Morganton. \
He is survived by two daughters, Jamie and Kasey Bishop.
Jim Cook
MORGANTON - James "Jim" Cook, 59, of Silver Trail, died unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at his residence.
Born Sept. 10, 1942, in Mississippi, he was a son of Lucille Denton Cook of Marion, and the late Carl Dewey Cook.
He was a member of Grandview Baptist Church and an employee of Resolution Packaging Company in Marion.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Juanita Leigh Graham Cook of the home; a daughter, Pam Walker of Indiana; a stepson, Ralph Collier of Centerville, Va.; a stepdaughter, Victoria Buechling of Germantown, Md.; brothers, Bobby Cook and Douglas Cook, both of Marion; sisters, Frances Cook and Nell Hawkins, both of Marion; and grandchildren, Jessica Walker, Amber Buechling and Aaron Buechling.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, at Grandview Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Whisnant officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. today, at Sossoman Funeral Home, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes before the funeral hour.

Winston Worley
MARION - Winston Worley, 88, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center.
The funeral will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, at Zion Hill Baptist Church, and the family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m., the day of the funeral, at the church.
Local survivors include a son, Charles Worley of Morganton.
Billy Jack Morgan
LENOIR - Billy Jack Morgan, 66, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at his residence after a brief illness.
Mr. Morgan was born Oct. 2, 1934, in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late Edward and Ada Fritz Morgan.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was employed as a Sales Rep for WKBC Radio in North Wilksboro.
Survivors are: his wife, Rebecca Pons Morgan of the home; daughters, Jacqueline Buchanan and Billie Jean Morgan, both of Morganton; stepsons, Tony Hall of Chapel Hill and Tom Hall of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Pansy Tidwell of Elizabethton, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Bill Buchanan, Timothy Morgan and Jessica Hanna, all of Morganton; and two step-grandchildren, Emily Hall and Ethan Hall, both of St. Louis, Mo.
Graveside services with military rites by American Legion Post 234 of Valdese will be 10 a.m. Friday, in the Waldensian Presbyterian Church Cemetery, and Memorial Services will follow at 11 a.m. Friday, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese with Dr. Don Smith officiating.
The Morgan family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.

Ernest Max Waters
CLEREMONT, Fla. - Ernest Max Waters, 79, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001.
A native of Morganton, Mr. Waters was the son of the late Ernest and Annie Waters.
He made his career in the U.S. Air Force until his retirement.
While in the Air Force, he flew 64 bombing missions over France and Germany in World War II.
Survivors are: his wife of 56 years, June Abigail Waters; sons, Thomas Lawson Waters and Richard T. Waters, both of Central Florida; three granddaughters; one great-grandson; and a brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Greta Waters of Morganton.
Mr. Waters was serving at the Pentagon just prior to his retirement from the Air Force.
