Mr. Olin Helms
CONCORD - Olin Downs Helms, 88, of 123 Woodland Drive, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at NorthEast Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. Robert Edsel will officiate.
Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

Born Nov. 13, 1910, in Cabarrus County, N.C., he was a son of the late E. T. "Zeke" and Molly Love Helms.
He retired from Cannon Mills where he worked 55 years.
He was a member of the Family of Faith Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Cline Helms, who died March 3, 1999, and twin daughters.
Survivors include a son, Bobby Helms of Concord and his wife, Betty; two grandchildren, Robbie Helms and Mitzi Talbert; and a great-grandchild, Paul Talbert.
Mrs. Helen Lanning
BADIN - Helen Lanning, 80, of 21 Tallassee, Badin, died Sunday Oct. 10, 1999 at her residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle.
The Rev. Claud Dick will officiate.
Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Park in Albemarle.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Born March 6, 1919 in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Molly Roxanne Starnes Odell and Lawson Madison Odell.
She was a member of the Stanly County DAR, a long-time member and past president of the Albemarle Women's Club and a member and past president of the Stanly Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She had served as a Sunday school teacher at Badin Baptist and Palmerville Baptist.
Mrs. Lanning was known for her kind heart and gentle spirit, and she was loved deeply by her family and friends.
She was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Her husband, Roy "Jack" Millard Lanning, preceded her in death.
She is survived by a number of nephews and nieces, including a great-niece, Debra Valentine of Concord.

Mrs. Irene Phillips
CONCORD - Irene Burrage Phillips, 85, of 31 Oak Drive, Concord, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at NorthEast Medical Center.

Born Dec. 8, 1913, in Cabarrus County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late James Carpenter and Flossie Ritchie Burrage.
She was a homemaker.
She attended East Bethel Baptist Church and was a member of Bayless Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, M.C. Phillips, and a son, Wayne Phillips.
Survivors include a daughter, Susie P. Jones of Concord; two sons, Larry Phillips and Cleary Phillips, both of Concord; two sisters, Margie Polk and Frances Williams, both of Concord; a brother, William Burrage of Winter Park, Fla.; six grandchildren, Cathy Clontz, Kim McCrary, Joseph Phillips, Mitch Phillips, Anne Michelle Rutemiller, and Michael Phillips; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Jeffrey Smith
ROCKWELL - Jeffrey Wayne Smith, 29, of Rockwell, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999 in an automobile accident in Rockwell.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shiloh United Church of Christ in Faith.
The Rev. James Cress will officiate.
Born May 24, 1970 in Salisbury, he was a son of Patricia Thompson of Rockwell, and Walter Fred Smith of Wilmington.
He was a graduate of Salisbury High School and studied at Buncombe Technical in Asheville.
He was employed as a plumber for Guy Turner Engineering of Greensboro.
He was a member of Shiloh United Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandmother, Mrs. Pansie Bame of Salisbury, a half brother, Chad Smith of Kannapolis, and a half-sister, Gina Smith of Wilmington.

LANDIS - William Earl Snipes, 86, of 702 W. Rice St., Landis, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999 at Genesis Eldercare in Mooresville.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ.
The Rev. William Campbell will officiate.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Born April 19, 1913 in Kannapolis, he was a son of the late Anne Snipes and William Edgar Snipes.
He graduated from Landis High School, and worked for Snipes Service Station, Fieldcrest Cannon Swink Plant #6 and Ted's Hardware.
He was a member of Eureka Lodge #283, Woodmen of the World and Freeze Seymore American Legion Post 105.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ.
His wife, Pauline "Polly" Pethel Snipes, died Aug. 7, 1983.
A sister, Helen Snipes Dennis, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Danny "Carol" McCombs of Landis; a sister, Ikey Snipes Swain of Landis; a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Tyrone "Ronnie" Dunnmon
CONCORD - Tyrone "Ronnie" Preston Dunnmon, 62, of 2870 Walter Drive, N.W., Concord, died Monday afternoon, Nov.1, 1999, at NorthEast Medical Center.

Born May 31, 1937, in Cabarrus County, N.C., he was a son of the late Moses Preston and Minnie Talbert Dunnmon.
He was retired from Ryder Trucking and former president of the Teamsters Union in Cincinatti, Ohio.
He was a master Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Mason, Ohio.
He was a former member of Stokes Lodge Shriner, Oasis Temple.
He was also a veteran of the 101st Airborne Division in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Little Dunnmon; a daughter, Kim Stotesbury of Concord, three stepdaughters, Dianne Wallace of Salisbury, Sharon Powell of Kannapolis, and Donna Blackwelder of Harrisburg; two sisters, Elizabeth Mabry of China Grove, and Vera Morrison of Fairfax, Va.; and 11 grandchildren.

Miss Wilma Goble
CHINA GROVE - Wilma Estelle Goble, 78, of 417 W. Ketchie St., died Monday Nov. 1, 1999, at The Laurels of Salisbury.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, of which she was a member.

Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Park.

Born May 16, 1921, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Bedford Goble and Clara Della Hafer Goble.
She was educated in High Point City Schools.
She was retired from Cannon Mills, where she worked in the Folding Department.
Survivors, in addition to her sister, include a brother, Arthur Goble of Kannapolis.
