CLARA BELL ANDREWS

COUNCIL - Clara Bell Andrews, 68, of 10025 NC 211 East, died Friday, July 26 [2002], at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, in Wilmington.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today (Tuesday), at Carver's Creek AME Zion Church, by the Rev. Douglas Moss.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Andrews is survived by two sons, Wiley E. Andrews of Angier, and Carl A. Andrews of Whiteville; three daughters, Sharon L. Brooks of Lumberton, Susan C. Faulkner of Clarkton, and Coleen A. Faulkner of the home; seven brothers, Oneal Graham, Albert Graham, Leo Graham, Herman Graham and Larry Graham, all of Clarkton, Audie Graham of Bladenboro, and James Graham of Abbottsburg; five sisters, Margaret Shaw and Idella Steele, both of Clarkton, Ruth McLean of Council, Veda McKoy of Patterson, N.J., and Alatha Mathis of Atlanta; and 12 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 1 till 3 p.m., at the church and at other times, at the home.
Arrangements are being handled by Cunningham and Sons Mortuary of Fayetteville.

GARLAND LENNON

BLADENBORO - Garland Lennon of 1085 Pleasant Garden Road, died Tuesday, June 4, [2002] at Bladen County Hospital.
He was 85.
Arrangements will be announced by People's Funeral Home of Whiteville.

LUCY KATHLEEN McKEE RUSS

MORGANTON - Lucy Kathleen McKee Russ, 76, of White Pine Lane, Morganton, died Sunday, September 29 [2002], at Grace Hospital following a period of declining health.
Mrs. Russ was a native of Columbus County, the daughter of the late William James McKee and Lucy Hobbs McKee, a former employee of Broughton Hospital, and a member of Conley Road Pentecostal Holiness Church.
The funeral will be held today, October 1, at Conley Road Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Reverend Bill Rice officiating.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 2, at 4:30 p.m. in McKinnon Cemetery in Bladenboro.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., at Lewis & Bowen Funeral Home in Bladenboro.
Memorial gifts may be made to Conley Pentecostal Holiness Church, P.O. Box 164, Glen Alpine, NC 28628.
Arrangements are being handled by Sossoman Funeral Home of Morganton, with local arrangements by Lewis & Bowen of Bladenboro.

HAROLD McNEILL

LUMBERTON - Harold McNeill, 58, of 1175 Robert Bessie Road, died Thursday, December 12 [2002], at his residence.
He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, and was employed with the House of Raeford, for 36 years.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Antioch Baptist Church in St. Paul's by the Revs. Sterling Chavis, Romey Revels and Gerald Smith.
Burial was in the McNeill Family Cemetery in Shannon.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Joyce McNeill; two sons, Steven Harold McNeill and Stuart Blaine McNeill, both of Lumberton; a daughter, Cindy Lynn Bell of Lumberton; five brothers, Willie S. McNeill. L. H. McNeill, Hubert McNeill, Jr., Vernon McNeill and Glenn McNeill, all of Lumberton; and one grandchild.
Floyd Mortuary and Crematory of Lumberton, handled the arrangements.

MITCHELL A. NANCE

FAYETTEVILLE - Mitchell A. Nance, 77, of 1817 Lakeshore Drive, died Friday, July 26 [2002], at his home.
Mr. Nance was a former teacher and coach at Benson High School.
He was a member and former Elder of Highland Presbyterian Church, and was a member and past president of the Cape Fear Kiwanis Club.
He served in the Visitors Board of Methodist College.
The funeral service was conducted Monday at 11 a.m., at Highland Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. Leighton McKeithan.
Burial was in LaFayette Memorial Park.
Mr. Nance is survived by his wife, Carol S. Nance; two sons, Lewis Nance of Fayetteville and Charles E. "Chip" Dudley of Arlington, Va.; two daughters, Nancy Lu Nance of Fayetteville and Kathryn Dudley of Arlington, Va.; two sisters, Sarah N. Britt of Bladenboro, and Virginia N. Harris of White Lake; and two grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to Highland Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 111 Highland Ave., Fayetteville, N.C. 28305, and to Boys and Girls Home of North Carolina, P.O. Box 127, Lake Waccamaw, N.C. 28450.
Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville, handled the arrangements.

BETTIE MARGARET CARTER

GARLAND - Bettie Margaret Carter, 93, died Tuesday, October 15 [2002], at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Avon Carter, and two sons, Ray Carter and Roy Carter.
She was a member of Garland United Methodist Church.
The funeral will be held today, Friday, at 11 a.m., at Garland United Methodist Church, with Reverend Victor Galipi officiating.
Burial will follow in the Garland Cemetery.
Mrs. Carter is survived by one son, Clem Carter, of Chesapeake, Virginia; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.
Carter Funeral Home in Garland, is handling arrangements.

SYLVESTER JERMAINE McDOWELL

ELIZABETHTOWN - Sylvester Germaine McDowell, 27, of 4229 NC 242, died Saturday, March 29 [2002], at Bladen County Hospital.
Arrangements will be announced by Johnson's Funeral Service of Elizabethtown.

OTTALEE PAGE PITTMAN

FAYETTEVILLE - Ottalee Page Pittman died Thursday, June 5 [2002], at Carolina Health Care Center.
She was 87.
She was a member of Northwood Temple.
The funeral was held at Northwood Temple, Sunday at 3 p.m., with Dr. John E. Hedgepeth officiating. Entombment was in Pages Mausoleum of Bladen County.
Mrs. Pittman is survived by three daughters, Joyce Armstrong Gordon and Sabrina Pittman Aaron, both of Fayetteville, and Molly Roberts Bethea of Hope Mills; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Highland Funeral Service and Crematory of Fayetteville, handled the arrangements.

LOUISE SIMPSON

CURRIE - Louise Simpson, 70, of 5925 Bell and Williams Road, died Sunday, June 2 [2002], at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born December 17, 1931, in Bladen County, to George and Julia Johnson Finkley.
The funeral will be conducted today (Friday) at 2 p.m., at Moore's Creek Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Stanley Richardson officiating.
Interment will be in the Moore's Creek Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Moses Simpson; three daughters, Judy McKoy of Burgaw, and Ruth Tinson and Nancy McKoy, both of Philadelphia; two sisters, Sarah McCarthy of Bronx, N. Y., and Claudia Gibson of Upper Marlboro, Md.; one son, James Simpson of Brooklyn, N. Y.; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Dunn Funeral Home of Burgaw, is handling the arrangements.

CHANNING LEE ROBERTS

SWANSBORO - Channing Lee Roberts, 29,of 316 Pettiford Road, died Saturday, July 27 [2002], at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City.
The funeral service will be conducted today (Tuesday) at 3 p.m. at Padgett Funeral Chapel in Wallace.
Burial will follow in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Mandy Dent Roberts; one son, Channing Lee Roberts, Jr., of the home; his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. William Patterson of Swansboro; his father, Roger Earl Roberts of San Antonio, Tex.; three brothers, Floyd Douglas Roberts of San Antonio, and Marshall Bradley Roberts and Christopher Brock Roberts, both of Bladenboro; his maternal grandmother, Mae Lee Kennedy of Mt. Olive; and his paternal grandmother, Hazel Roberts of Calypso.
The family will receive friends at Padgett Funeral Home from 2 till 3 p.m. today.
Padgett is handling the arrangements.
