ALBEMARLE -- Cora Elizabeth Furr Weaver, 86, of 2418 Snuggs Park Road, Albemarle, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Manor Healthcare Nursing Center.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Love's Grove Methodist Church in Stanfield.

Mr. Grady Corriher
KANNAPOLIS -- Grady Eugene Corriher, 84, of 1012 Hoke St., Kannapolis, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at NorthEast Medical Center after a year of declining health and being seriously ill for six weeks.
The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church.
Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum.
The Rev. Tom Tucker and Dr. Dale Tanner will officiate.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the D.A.V. Chapter 27.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Whitley's Funeral Home.
At other times, the family will be at the home on Hoke Street.
Born June 23, 1917, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Henry W. Corriher and the late Carrie Bell Shuping Corriher.
In earlier years, he was employed with Johnston Furniture.
Then, later with Jackson Park Furniture which became Discount Furniture Outlet World in Kannapolis.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he held many offices, including head usher.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. where he was a Staff Sergeant with the 336th Army Airborne Division serving with the Air offensive in Europe, receiving the EAMET Campaign Medal with the Bronze Star.
He was also awarded the American Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and a graduate of China Grove High School, class of 1935.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Bost Corriher; a daughter, Betty Jones and her husband Charles of Kannapolis; three grandchildren, Dale Jones and wife Terri, Todd Jones and wife Tomoyo, and Brandi Jones; great-grandchildren, Holly Jones and Alexis Jones; sister, Willene Barnhardt of China Grove; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hazel Fowler
KANNAPOLIS -- Hazel Roberts Fowler, 84, formerly of Burlington and Kannapolis, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Fairhaven Nursing Home in Birmingham, Ala.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
Dr. William C. Simpson, Jr. will officiate.
Born May 12, 1917, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of Charlie Jones (CJ) Roberts and Ann Wilma Nance Roberts.
She retired from Burlington Merchants Assoc. and Credit Bureau in 1990 after 32 years.
She was also a member of Front St. Methodist Church in Burlington, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lury Clinton (Red) Fowler, who died in 1959.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Sylvia F. Traynham of Hoover, Ala., and Mrs. Sarah Ann F. Hooper of Burlington; a sister, Joan R. Bray of Mooresville; a brother, Farrell Robert of Burlington, and four grandchildren.

GOLDSBORO -- Helen Marie Krimminger Gardner, 67, of 200 Worth Drive, Goldsboro, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Kitty Askins Hospice of Goldsboro.
She passed away after an extensive illness.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Hartsell Funeral Home.
Born Aug. 19, 1934, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter for the late Eva Beatrice Aldridge Krimminger and Paul Ebert "Jack" Krimminger.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Gardner; two daughters, Leigh Gardner Lane of Concord, and Julia Piper of Wilmington; a sister, Ann Krimminger Edwards of High Point, and one grandson, Zachary Lane.

Mr. Charles McRorie
CONCORD -- Charles Ralph McRorie, 85, of 664 Jackson Terrace, Concord, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2001, at NorthEast Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord.
Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The Rev. Dr. Mark Erickson will officiate.

Born July 30, 1916, in Union County, he was the son of the late Mamie Elms McRorie and Perry Lee McRorie.
He was a retired barber from Johnson's Barber Shop.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Mabrey McRorie.
Survivors include two sons, Ricky D. McRorie and Wayne McRorie, both of Concord; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Ann Nanney
CHARLOTTE -- Mary Ann Christy Nanney, 93, of Charlotte, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Wesley Nursing Center.
A graveside memorial service will be held noon Wednesday at Sharon Memorial Park.
The Rev. David Lytle will officiate.
Mrs. Nanney was born Oct. 2, 1907 in Iredell County, a daughter of the late John Andrew Christy and Lula Sowers Christy. .
She was employed by the Belk department store and was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Surviving are her sons, Glenn Nanney of Charlotte, and Ray Nanney of Greenville, S.C.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Don Phillips
KANNAPOLIS -- Edgar Donald "Don" Phillips, 69, a resident of Avante at Concord, and formerly of 2137 Lane Street, Kannapolis, died Friday, September 28, 2001, at Avante at Concord.
The funeral was held 2 p.m. Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial followed at Carolina Memorial Park.
The Revs. Tim Jernigan and John Jones officiated.
Born June 4, 1932, in Wilkes County, he was the son of Helen Harrington Phillips of Kannapolis, and the late Edgar Dewey Phillips.
He was previously employed with Phillips Painting and Refinishing Company.
He later worked for Kannapolis Construction Co.
He was a member of Pleasant Avenue Baptist Church where he was active in the Senior Citizens Group.
He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his mother, Helen Harrington Phillips of Kannapolis; two sons, Eddie Dean Phillips of Kannapolis, and Tony Phillips of Tennessee; granddaughter, Angie Phillips; two sisters, Dorothy Phillips Ragan and her husband J.W. of Kannapolis, and Doris Phillips Yates and her husband Rev. J.C. Yates of Saratoga, N.C.; a niece, Sharon Ragan Goodson of Rockwell; nephews, Danny Yates of Beaufort, Donnie Yates of Angier, Dennis Yates of Kannapolis, Eddie Ragan of Old Fort, and Steve Ragan of King; and several great nieces and nephews.

KANNAPOLIS -- Richard Nathan Sheets, 73, of 1511 Buffalo Street, Kannapolis, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at NorthEast Medical Center.

Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Born Jan. 1, 1928, in Wilkes County, he was the son of the late Roosevelt Sheets and Minnie Sheets.
He was retired from G.G. Ray Roofing and Siding in Charlotte, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Virginia Sheets, who died in September of 2001.
Survivors include two sons, James Bare and Gene Bare, both of Kannapolis; two brothers, Fred Sheets of Landis and Carl Sheets of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Clara Roten and Dare Miller, both of Glendale Springs, and Edna Overcash of Flint, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Wiley Plemmons
ASHEVILLE -- Wiley Lee Plemmons, 82, of 6 Wiley Drive, died Friday, September 28, 2001, in the VA Medical Center in Asheville.
Mr. Plemmons was born Jan. 17, 1919, in Madison County, and was a resident of Buncombe County most of his life.
Wiley was a retired farmer and also a disabled veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.
He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He was born the son of the late Farida and Viola Haney Plemmons.
Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Rebecca Louraine Plemmons, who died in 1962, and a brother W.O. Plemmons.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Louise Radford Plemmons, sons Mark Andrew Plemmons and his wife Kim of Concord, and Luke Stephen Plemmons and his wife Ruth of Asheville; sisters Helen Riddle of Jacksonville, Fla., Elsie Culbertson, Lillian Matthews and Joy P. Radford and her husband Ben, all of Asheville; brothers Rev. J.R. Plemmons and his wife Mildred, Calvin W. Plemmons and his wife Doris, Blaine Plemmons and his wife Louise, Rev. David Plemmons and this wife Ursula, all of Asheville, and Rufus "Dean" Plemmons and his wife Sue of Fairview; grandchildren, Jordan Michelle and Dayne Andrew Plemmons, both of Concord; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were today, in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Eddie Rice, Ebb Jenkins and H.L. Wilson officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Asheville.
The family will received friends Monday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, where the body remained until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.
At other times, the family will be at the residence.
