SALISBURY -- Anna Miller Peacock, 89, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at Genesis Eldercare.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Chain Grove.

Mr. "Pete" Taylor
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Billie Ray "Pete" Taylor, 71, of the 800 block of Montgolfier Arch, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, in a local hospital.
Mr. Taylor was born in Kannapolis, son of the late Lester Taylor and Charlotte Boone Taylor-Polk.
He was a retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer with 22 years of service.
He retired as a Military Sales Representative for D&S Agencies.
He was a member of Fleet Reserve Association, Branch #99.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Mildred Sherrill Taylor; his daughter, Sharon DeSantis and her husband David of Skaneateles, N.Y.; his son, Kenneth R. Taylor and his wife Cynthia of Woodbridge, Va.; two brothers, Jesse and his wife Jeanette of Ellenboro, and Scott and his wife Nell of Salisbury; and four grandchildren, Crystal and Angela Taylor, and Dana and Patrick DeSantis.
The funeral was conducted Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, by the Rev. Ernest Roebuck of Calvary Baptist Church.
Military Honors were accorded at the Chapel.
Burial will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Davis Corner Rescue Squad, Virginia Beach.
Mr. Victor Connell
CONCORD -- Victor "Vic" Connell, 51, of Concord, departed this life on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Funderburk officiating.
Burial will follow at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Victor was born Feb. 19, 1950 in Mecklenburg County, the son of the late William Dennis Connell and Helen Stewart Connell.
He served this country in the United States Army from 1969-1971 in Vietnam.
After his honorable discharge, he returned to Charlotte and attended CPCC.
Vic started his own business and was the owner of V.F.C. Electric.
He then decided to sell the business and go to work for the Home Depot, in the electrical department.
He was in the electrical business for over 25 years and was very knowledgeable about his trade.
Vic loved to fish and he was an avid angler.
He also enjoyed cooking, especially the fish that he caught.
Vic was very talented with his garden and truly loved flowers.
He was a brother that was deeply loved and immensely cherished by his family.
He is survived by his brother, Dennis Michael Connell of Charlotte; sisters, Kathy Connell Collins and her husband, Darrell W. of Pinehurst, Brenda Connell Cauble of Midland, and Debbi Connell Sanders and her husband Richard D. of Charlotte; nieces, Sandy Mullis of Kannapolis, and Helen Elisabeth "Hess" Sanders of Charlotte; nephews, Ryan Shane Cauble of Ashburn, VA, and David Michael Connell of Jacksonville, FL.

CHARLOTTE -- Virginia Lunette Crosby Flowe, 60, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at New St. John Baptist Church on St. John Road in Newell, N.C.
Burial will follow at York Memorial in Charlotte.
The Rev. Robert Leak will officiate.

Born in Chester County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late James T. and Marie Crank Crosby.
She was a graduate of Second Ward High School.
She also attended Barber-Scotia College.
Survivors include her devoted and loving husband of 26 years, Billy W. Flowe of the home; four sisters, Lillie Clinkscales of Charlotte, Helen Grier of Charlotte, Connie Crosby-Simpson of Chester, S.C. and Martha B. McCullough of Rock Hill, S.C.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

KANNAPOLIS -- Moranda Jane Grissom Kiser, 95, of 5730 Charlie Walker Rd., Kannapolis, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Transitional Healthcare.

Born June 22, 1906 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Govan Grissom and the late Julia Gilmore Grissom.
She was a retired elevator operator and a member of Rock Hill A.M.E. Zion Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Sibbie G. Cannon of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Kenneth McDaniel of Kannapolis, Henry G. Cannon of Charlotte, Evelyn C. KANNAPOLIS -- Dorothy Alexander Taylor, 87, of 4876 Boy Scout Camp Road, Kannapolis, and formerly of Sparta, N.C., died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at NorthEast Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel.

She retired from Cannon Mills Co. after 35 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herman Wiley Alexander and Robert Taylor; and a son, D. Kenneth Alexander.
Survivors include her son, Bobby Glenn Alexander of Kannapolis; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

CONCORD -- Conred Ray Cooke, 73, of 215 Goodman Circle, Concord, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at his home.

Born April 16, 1928, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Harold Craig Cooke and Nell Hendren Cooke.
He worked at the U.S. Post Office in Kannapolis, as a distribution clerk until his retirement.
He was a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee, deacon, Sunday school director and teacher, and was also a member of the church choir and various quartets and singing groups.
He was a member of the United Commercial Travelers, Chapter 853, and the National Federation of Distribution Clerks.
He was preceded in death by two step-children, Sherry Rodgers Smith and William Barry Rodgers.
Survivors include his wife, Lanas Tucker Rodgers Cooke; a daughter, Sandra Cooke Craft of Kannapolis; a sister, Phyllis Colleen Cooke of Kannapolis; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

CONCORD -- Eunice Tarlton McKinley, 89, of 2339 Odell School Rd, Concord, formerly of Stirewalt Rd., Kannapolis, died Saturday, Oct 13, 2001, at Avante at Concord.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethpage Presbyterian Church.

Born Jan. 20, 1912, in Union County, she was the daughter of the late David Alexander and Russia Tarlton Tarlton.
She worked at Cannon Mills for 48 years.
She was a member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church and Bethpage Home Demonstration Club.
Survivors include her husband, J.R. McKinley; one son, Jeter McKinley and his wife Marilyn of Kannapolis; one sister, Sybil Gray of Concord; and five grandchildren, Jennifer Jarrell, Joseph Mckinley, James McKinley, John McKinley, and Shannon DeArmon.
