Mrs. Myrtle Howell
KANNAPOLIS -- Myrtle Harwell Howell, 85, a resident of the Meadows of Rockwell, and formerly of Kannapolis, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury.
The Rev. R.J. Hammond and the Rev. Gene Beaver will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Born June 16, 1916, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Willie G. Harwell and Katherine "Kate" Goodnight Harwell.
She previously worked in the show department at Carolina Maid in Granite Quarry.
She was a member of Charity Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Homer Howell, in 1976; a sister, Edith Harwell Howell; and her son, James Baxter Howell, on Oct. 13, 2001.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Howell White of Kannapolis; two sons, Gary Howell of Kannapolis, and Billy Howell of Winston Salem; a brother, Dwight Harwell of Concord; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Mary James
CHINA GROVE -- Mary Elizabeth Cruse James, 73, of 102 Elizabeth St., China Grove, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at NorthEast Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
At other times, they will be at the residence.
Born Jan. 30, 1928, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late George Dewey Cruse and Nellie Mae Ritchie Cruse.
She was formerly a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Concord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. James.
Survivors include one son, John Cook and his wife, Stephanie of China Grove; one brother, George Louis Cruse of Maryland; two sisters, Esther C. Cruse of China Grove, and formerly of 239 Glenn Ave., N.W., Concord, and Edith C. Pickett of Clayton, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Crysti, Melissa and Anita; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. John Propst, IV
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- John William Propst, IV, 49, of 9500 Thornaby Lane, Jacksonville, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at his home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord.

Born Aug. 2, 1952, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late J. William Propst, III and the late Caroline Elizabeth Bisanar Propst.
He worked for Blue Shield Assets Allocations.
Survivors include his grandfather, Norman Bisanar of Concord; two sisters, Elizabeth P. McClintic of Raleigh, and Katharine P. Krueger of Durham; and two brothers, P. Edward Propst of Charlotte, and L. Marcus Propst of Asheville.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Robert Edward Allison, Jr., 46, of 2nd Ave., Minneapolis, Minn., formerly of Kannapolis, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, in Minneapolis.

SALISBURY -- David Perry Davis, 58, of 240 Swink Ave., Salisbury, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach.

KANNAPOLIS -- Don Franklin Joines, 85, of Kannapolis, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Avante at Concord.

Born Feb. 3, 1916, in Wilkes County, N.C., he was the son of the late James Thomas Joines and the late Annie Mae Childers Joines.
He retired April 3, 1978, from Cannon Mills Co., plant one, No. 2 weave room, after 48 years of service.
He was a member of Landis Baptist Church.
He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Pennell Joines, on March 6, 1999.
Mr. Joines is survived by his brother, Clegg Joines, and his wife, Virginia, of Kannapolis.

CONCORD -- Brenda Kay Little, 25, of 6209 Hardwood Lane, Concord, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

MOORESVILLE -- Mary Kathryn Upright Adams, 94, of 5970 N.C. 152 W., Mooresville, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at her home.

Born July 7, 1907, in Mooresville, she was the daughter of the late Mary Louise Foutz Upright and the late David Eli Upright.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and Women of the ELCA.
She was also a Sunday School teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Butler Adams Sr., on Dec. 8, 1987.
Survivors include her seven sons, Frank E. Adams, Larry E. Adams and Clyde B. Adams, all of Mooresville, Hubert R. Adams and Billy L. Adams, both of China Grove, Paul T. Adams of Kannapolis, and Donald W. Adams of Amelia, Va.; four daughters, Evelyn Smith of New London, Janette McDonald of Mooresville, Joanne Haynes and Carolyn Morrow, both of China Grove; 33 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

LOCUST -- Thedus Eudy Barringer, 85, of Locust, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at Eden Gardens of Concord.

Burial will follow at First Baptist Church Cemetery in Locust.

Born Sept. 26, 1916 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Florence Osborne and Henry Starley Eudy.
She was a school teacher for Cabarrus, and Stanly County School systems for 43 years.
She was a member of Locust Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin E. Barringer.
Survivors include two nieces, Joyce Beatty and Janice Mansfield, both of Midland, and a nephew, Ronald Eudy and wife Marion of Concord.

ROCKWELL -- Roger Dale Connell, II, 35, of 5830-B Highway 152 East, Rockwell, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at Rowan Regional Medical Center as a result of an automobile accident.

Born Sept. 7, 1966 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of Roger Dale Connell, I of Concord, and the late Linda Mae Trexler Connell.
He was employed with World Custom Homes in Salisbury.
He was educated in the Kannapolis City Schools and attended Holy Power Church in Rockwell.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Shane Moore Alexander.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include a daughter, Samantha Mae Connell of Salisbury; a son, Roger Dale Connell, III of Salisbury; several cousins, aunts, and uncles, including Reid and Lucille Bost of Rockwell.
