WILLIAM WILLIS (BILL) ROBESON
JACKSONVILLE, Fl. - William Willis (Bill) Robeson of 3418 Terry Street, formerly of Tar Heel, died Thursday, July 25 [2002], at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville.
He was 78.
Mr. Robeson was a avid sportsman who loved to hunt and fish.
He was a member of the Jacksonville Gun Club.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Beth Carr Presbyterian Church in Tar Heel, conducted by the Rev. David Canady.
Burial will be in the Beth Carr Church cemetery.
Mr. Robeson is survived by his mother, Jewel M. Woods, of Jacksonville, Fl., and a sister, Anne R. Carpender of Charlotte.
Visitation will be held tonight (Tuesday) from 7 till 8 p.m. at Saint Paul's Funeral Home.

JOE R. PAYNE
AUSTIN, Tex. - Joe R. Payne died in Paris, France, May 12 [2002].
He was 66.
A native of Texas, he resided in Austin.
He was retired from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission where he worked for 30 years and was appointed chairman by the Texas governor.
The funeral service will be Monday, May 20, at 11 a. m. at the University Methodist Church on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin.
Among his survivors is his wife, Nancy; a son, Mark J. Payne of Elizabethtown; four daughters; and a brother.
Memorials are suggested locally to Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church, 2409 Peanut Plant Road, Elizabethtown, N. C. 28337.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 until 5 p. m. at Cook Walden Funeral Home on Rockwood Lane in Austin.
HELEN B. BULLARD
LUMBERTON - Helen B. Bullard of 2407 W. 5th Street died Tuesday, March 26 [2002], at GlenFlora Nursing Home.
She was 82.
She was born in Robeson County, on April 2, 1919, a daughter of the late Hezzie Sanford and Betty Walters Branch.
She was a member of the West Lumberton Baptist Church, where she was active in the Willing Workers Sunday School class.
The funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, at West Lumberton Baptist Church, with the Revs. Glenn Grant and James Brooks officiating.
Interment followed in the Meadowbrook Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Sandy A. Bullard; two sons, Billy Bruce Bullard of Tarboro and Sandy Archie Bullard, Jr., of Red Springs; three daughters, Shelby Bodiford, Janice Bryan and Carolyn Strickland, all of Lumberton; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

MARIE MAZUR BAXLEY
ELIZABETHTOWN - Marie Mazur Baxley died Wednesday, April 3 [2002], at Bladen County Hospital.
She was 70.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Mazur, and her second husband, Wallace Baxley.
She was employed for 44 years as a secretary with Squires Timber Company.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., at Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Kenneth Hall officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Baxley is survived by two sons, Cam Mazur of Elizabethtown and Robert Mazur of White Lake; a brother, Bobby Absher of Elizabethtown; and five grandchildren, Bryan and Ashley Mazur of Elizabethtown and Jordan, Jared and Jacob Mazur of White Lake.
Visitation will be held tonight (Friday) from 7 till 9 p.m. at Kinlaw Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, and at other times, at 17 Magnolia Lane, White Lake.

MYRTLE BRITT PAIT
BLADENBORO - Myrtle Britt Pait, 72, of 3309 Center Road died Thursday, April 4 [2002], at SunBridge Nursing Care.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H.B. Pait, Jr.
The funeral will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m., at Center Road Baptist Church, by the Rev. Vernon Britt.
Burial will be in Old Pait Cemetery.
She is survived by three daughters, Gloria Dove and Teresa Hester, both of Bladenboro, and Roselind Britt of Orrum; a son, Dennis Pait of Bladenboro; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

WHITE LAKE - Margaret Brock Grimes, of 227 Woodlief Drive and formerly of Tar Heel, died Monday, February 3 [2002], at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
She was 73.
She was a member of Tar Heel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Grimes Sr.
The funeral service was held Thursday at 3 p.m., at McNeill Funeral Home Chapel in St. Paul's, conducted by Rev. Walter Hayes.
Burial was in the Grimes family cemetery of Tar Heel.
Mrs. Grimes is survived by a daughter, Laura V. Grimes of White Lake; a son, David Grimes, Jr. of Tar Heel; two sisters, Mollie Garner of Tar Heel, and Mary Louise Saba of Toledo, Ohio; one granddaughter, Cynthia Grimes, and one grandson, David Wingate Grimes.

BLADENBORO - Jessie Neil Bryan, 63, of 19445 NC 131 South, died Friday, March 28 [2002], at his residence.
A graveside service was conducted Sunday at 3 p.m., at Benevolence Cemetery, located on NC 131, Bladenboro.
He is survived by his wife, Maggie Bryan; a daughter, Eva Bryan of the home; a son, Bradley Bryan of Rocky Mount; a sister, Peggy McQueen of Dublin; and two brothers, W. J . Bryan of Lexington and Ronald Bryan of Bladenboro.

He was retired from the construction business.

Mr. Dowless is survived by his wife, Edna Earl Dowless; three sons, Steve Dowless, Wilbur Dowless and Michael Dowless, all of Center Road; two sisters, Barbara Wilson of Waco, Texas, and Frances Knight of Robbins; a brother, Woody Dowless Jr. of Asheboro; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

FAYETTEVILLE - Dale G. McGill, 47, of 4891 Fogarty Drive, died Wednesday, March 26 [2002], at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
The funeral was conducted Sunday at 2 p.m., at Savannah Temple AME Zion Church of Clarkton.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his brothers, Bennie McGill of Elizabethtown, Carnell McGill and Carl McGill, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., and David McGill of Fayetteville, and a sister, Marcella McGill of Clarkton.
