A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. today at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Thomas (Tommy) Steelman, Sr.
KANNAPOLIS — Thomas Woodrow Steelman, Sr. (Tommy), 36, of 350 Mobile Home Park Drive, Lot #3, Kannapolis, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, on arrival at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. Jeff Wood will officiate.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home.

HARRISBURG — Samuel Glenn Strider, 66, of 5540 Roberta Road, Harrisburg, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at NorthEast Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Concord Church of the Nazarene.
Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Mrs. Myrtle Whitley
ADVANCE — Myrtle Wynne Whitley, born in Williamston, N.C., in 1906, died on Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Bermuda Village in Advance, N.C.
She was predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Julian King Whitley.
They lived in Kannapolis, for most of their life.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont, N.C., conducted by Rev. Martin Armstrong.
Mrs. Beatrice Bost
CONCORD -- Beatrice Eva Hudson Bost, 75, of 934 Old Charlotte Rd., Concord, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at her home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Broadus Memorial Baptist Church in Concord.
The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The Rev. Rodney Quesenbury will officiate.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord.
At other times, the family will be at the home on Old Charlotte Rd.
Born Oct. 30, 1926 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Odessa Deese Hudson and Floyd Lindsey Hudson.
She was a retired desk clerk from the Concord Hotel and a member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Gail Bost.
Survivors include her husband, Parker "William" Bost of Concord; a son, William Eugene Bost of Charlotte; three sisters, Agnes Sehorn and Mae Cagle, both of Concord, and Margie Kimberlin of Mayodan; four grandchildren, Julie Bost, Shannon Johnson, Amber Bost, and Elizabeth Bost; and three great-grandchildren, Skylar Bost, Jaylan Miller, and Kayla Miller.

Mr. Arthur Doby
MOUNT PLEASANT -- Arthur Lee Doby, 86, of 8160 Wood St., Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at Transitional Health Care in Kannapolis.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel.
Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The Rev. Bill Nix will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday morning, prior to the service at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel.
Mr. Doby was born July 3, 1915 in Rowan County, the son of the late John C. Doby and Minnie Carter Doby.
He was retired from Tuscarora Yarn.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Othelia Leonard Doby; his sons, Jackie Doby of Gold Hill, and Larry Doby of Mt. Pleasant; his daughter, Jean D. Bailey of Pawley's Island, S.C.; his brother, Thurman Doby of China Grove; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.

Mr. Raymond Lowder
ALBEMARLE -- Raymond Eli Lowder, 84, of 24087 Austin Road, Albemarle, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Stanly Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel.
Burial will follow at Canton Baptist Church Cemetery in Albemarle.
The Rev. Gary Hunsucker will officiate.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle.
At other times, the family will be at the home on Austin Road.
Born Nov. 6, 1916 in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Eunice Hatley Lowder and the late James Henry Lowder.
He was a retired tractor mechanic and attended Canton Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Bell Hartsell Lowder.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Lowder of Albemarle; three daughters, Carolyn L. Culp of Gold Hill, Joyce L. Grimmitt of Charlotte, and Nancy L. Downer of Locust; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Corinne Major
MOORESVILLE -- Corinne Howard Major passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Genesis Eldercare, having been in declining health for several years.
She was born February 27, 1914 in Mooresville, the daughter of the late Ernest and Myrtle Ervin Howard.
Following graduation from Mooresville High School, she entered nurses training at Martin Memorial Hospital in Mt. Airy, N.C., and received her RN there.
She returned to Mooresville, and became Supervisor of Nursing at Lowrance Hospital.
Mrs. Major later became assistant to Dr. Bill McLain, where she remained until his retirement due to illness, and then, she was assistant to Dr. William Skeen until she retired.
Mrs. Major was a much beloved nurse and went beyond the call of duty to help many people.
After her health declined, she became a resident of Genesis until her death.
Mrs. Major is survived by a brother, Robert W. "Bob" Howard and wife, Mary Elizabeth of Mooresville; sisters, Anne H. Earnhardt and husband, Bill of Mooresville, Lynda H. Schenck of Kannapolis, and Lois H. Rettew of Cleburne, Texas.
She is also survived by daughter, Betty M. Dobbins of Fayetteville; granddaughter, Jennifer Hancock; great-granddaughter, Samantha Corinne Paulson; and great-grandson, Brandon Hancock, all of Cheraw, S.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
he was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Major, one brother, Merle Howard, and one sister, Elsie H. Fortner.
Corinne was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church in Mooresville.
A memorial service will be conducted at Central United Methodist Church on Monday at 2 p.m.
Rev. Phil DeBerry, pastor, will officiate, assisted by Rev. Joe Ervin.
There will be a private burial at Glenwood Memorial Park prior to the memorial service.
The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.
At other times, they will be at the home of Robert W. "Bob" Howard on Sample Road, Mooresville.
