Mr. Robert "Doc" Cronan
KANNAPOLIS -- Robert Eugene "Doc" Cronan, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at NorthEast Medical Center, after being seriously ill for 4 weeks.
A graveside service will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6 at the Plaza Crypts in Carolina Memorial Park.
Born in Jasper County, he was the son of the late Jasper Eugene Cronan and Josephine F. Cronan.
Mr. Cronan retired as a CPO with the U.S. Navy and a Jeweler with Whitmire Jewelers in Kannapolis.
He was a member of Cannon Memorial Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, the Morocco Temple, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Cabarrus Shrine Club, the Kannapolis Lions Club, the American Legion, the Fleet Reserve Association, and Magna Carter.
He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Kannapolis, and was also a Kentucky Coronal.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Hurley Whitmire Cronan.
Survivors include his step-son, J.D. Whitmire and wife Sandra of Owings, Md.; and one granddaughter, Stefanie Whitmire and husband Skip of Hickory Corners, Mich.

Mrs. Liz Green
CONCORD -- Lizzie Green, 80, of Poplar Tent Road, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2001, at her home.
The funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Wilkinson Funeral Home.
Mr. James Burrage
CONCORD -- James Thomas Burrage, 83, of 454 Burrage Road NE, Concord, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at NorthEast Medical Center.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord.
Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The Revs. David Christy and Tim Newton will officiate.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord.
At other times, the family will be at the home on Burrage Rd.
Born April 29, 1918 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Lula Faggart Burrage and John Blair Burrage.
He was self-employed as a milk hauler for 50 years and a veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II.
He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Burrage Eudy; and a brother, John Patterson Burrage.
Survivors include his wife, Colleen Pendleton Burrage of Concord; three daughters, Ann Blackwell and her husband Vince, Debra Moss and her husband Johnny, and Krista Wetter and her husband James, all of Concord; his son James H. Burrage and his wife Carolyn of Concord; a brother, Frank A. Burrage of Concord; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Beatrice Carson
MOORESVILLE -- Beatrice Rice Carson, 85, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at the Brian Center in Mooresville.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bethesda A.M.E. Zion Church in Mooresville.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Raymond Christy
MOUNT PLEASANT -- Raymond Frank Christy, 73, of 9950 Mt. Olive Rd., Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at his home after a period of declining health.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis.
The Rev. Grady Barringer will officiate.
The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home.
Born Dec. 4, 1927 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Walter Elmore Christy and the late Roxie Lee Arthurs Christy.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the hospital corps as an X-ray technician during World War II.
In earlier years, he worked for the Cabarrus County Health Department as an X-ray technician.
He also ran a country store for a period of time and served many years as a life insurance agent with Life of Virginia until his retirement.
He was a lifetime resident of the area.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Barnes; a brother, Cletus Christy; and a sister, Mary Belle Christy.
Survivors include his wife, Johnsie Rumple Christy; two daughters, Bernice Cresson of Salisbury, and Billie Jo Stewart of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, Tammy Adamski of Green River, Wyoming, Dan Barnes of Laramie, Wyoming, Sean Bonawit, Jeremy James, and Dakota Stewart, all of Mt. Pleasant; three great-grandchildren, Tiffany Adamski, Richard Adamski, and Kaylee Barnes; two sisters, Goldie Rodgers of Kannapolis, and Ann Long of Rockwell; and six brothers, Otto Christy, Ray Christy, Paul Christy, Walter E. Christy, Jr., and David Christy, all of Kannapolis, and Steve Christy of Concord.

Mrs. Louellen Dickson
CHARLOTTE -- Louellen Wilson Dickson, 84, a resident of Hunter Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and formerly of Whiting Avenue, Charlotte, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at Hunter Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Charlotte.
The Rev. James Peeler will officiate.

Born Dec. 8, 1916 in Concord, she was the daughter of the late Marion Wilson and the late Jennie Caroline McIntyre Wilson.
Mrs. Dickson retired several years ago from Cannon Mills Company.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie James Dickson, who died in 1983.
Mrs. Dickson is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Born Sept. 25, 1921 in Cabarrus County, she devoted much of her life to caring for her cats.
She was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Green.
Survivors include her sister, Lucy F. Gunnells of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Frank Faggart and Clyde Faggart, both of Concord; and nephews and nieces.

KANNAPOLIS -- Steven Crane Horton, 44, of 716 Long Street, Kannapolis, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Avante Nursing Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Pastor P.C. Holland will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Born Dec. 21, 1956 in Concord, he was the son of Betty Horton and the late J. A. Horton.
Survivors include two brothers, the Rev. Robert Horton and his wife Imogene of Kannapolis, and Ethan Horton and his wife LaWanda of Charlotte.

Mr. James Tulloh
CHARLOTTSVILLE, VIRGINIA -- James Meredith Tulloh, 87, of Charlottesville, Virginia, and formerly of Louisa, Virginia, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001.
He was the first man from Louisa County, Virginia to be drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received the EAME Theater Ribbon, three Bronze Stars, American Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Ribbon.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, he worked as a fireman for Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad.
He retired from Virginia Telephone and Telegraph as a telephone repairman.
Survivors include his son, James M. Tulloh, Jr. of China Grove; and a sister, Ruth R. Tulloh of Mineral, Virginia.
The family received friends Thursday, Nov. 1 at Woodward Funeral Home in Louisa, Va., where funeral services were conducted Friday, Nov. 2 with Pastor Mike Durham officiating.
Interment followed in the Mineral Baptist Church Cemetery in Mineral, Va.
