KANNAPOLIS -- Renee T. Coe, 53, of 1441 Sherwood Drive, Kannapolis, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord, after declining health for two years.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The Rev. William Rash will officiate.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Whitley's Funeral Home.
At other times, they will be at the home on Sherwood Drive.
Born Oct. 29, 1948, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late George Cleveland (Steve) Tucker and Alda Morris Tucker of the home.
She formerly worked at Piedmont Cleaners and Dixie Cleaners and was a member of Centerview Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ray Coe, who died Dec. 13, 1994.
In addition to her mother, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Kelley Coe Callicutt and spouse Kenny of Mooresville and Amy Ruth Coe of the home; a brother, Larry Steven Tucker of Kannapolis; and three grandchildren, Lennon McCartney Callicutt, Cassandra Ray Callicutt, and Alan-Michael Coe.

KANNAPOLIS -- Hester Elizabeth Bruce Fortson, 85, of 1502 Dennis Ave., Kannapolis, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at her home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Shadybrook Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Born Oct. 22, 1916, in Madison County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Henry Lee Bruce and Terrila Ginn Bruce.
She was a homemaker and a member of Shadybrook Baptist Church, where she had been a nursery worker for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alson Fortson, who died Nov. 28, 1979; and by a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include 10 children, Jeanette Torrence and spouse, Rev. Howard Torrence of China Grove, Bertie Upright and spouse John (Bo) of Kannapolis, Merle Upright and spouse Calvin (June) of Kannapolis, Donnie Smith and spouse Bobby of Kannapolis; Alson (Eddie) Fortson, Jr. and spouse, Geraldine of Kannapolis, Henry Fortson and spouse, Daisy of Kannapolis, Brenda Brewer and spouse, Jimmy of Kannapolis, Kenneth Fortson and spouse Joan of Denton, NC, Cindy Riley and spouse Rondal of Kannapolis, and Bruce Fortson and spouse, Sandy of Salisbury; a brother, Donald Bruce of Flint, Mich.; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and eight step-grandchildren.

CHINA GROVE -- John Gilbert Miller, Jr., 77, of 2145 Mary Street, China Grove, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury.
The funeral will be 7 p.m. Friday at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove.
Entombment will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday, at West Lawn Memorial.
Park rites will be conducted by Rowan Veterans Council.

Born Aug. 15, 1924, in Rockwell, he was the son of the late Imogene Rudicil Miller and the late John Gilbert Miller, Sr.
He was educated in Rockwell schools and was owner/operator of Miller Trucking Co.
He was a member of Grace Christian Church and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia "Erlyne" Russell Miller; a son, John Gilbert Miller, III; three daughters, Lynn Miller Cox of Kannapolis, Diane Miller Williams of Jacksonville, and Mary Ann Miller Herring of China Grove; two brothers, Joe Oliver Miller of Albany, Ga., and Stone Edward Miller of Rockwell; a sister, Alice Miller Hughes of Greenville, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren.

KANNAPOLIS -- Roger Wayne Munson, 39, of 222 Cedar Brook Dr., Kannapolis, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, in Concord.
Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Born Feb. 7, 1962, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of Billy Eugene and Brenda Elizabeth Carrol Munson of Concord.
He was a diesel mechanic at A.G. Trucking in Mooresville, and a member of United Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Lori Teresa Cooper Munson of the home; a daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth Munson of the home; three brothers, Johnny Ray Munson and William Lee Munson, both of Concord, and Billy Eugene Munson, Jr. of Morrisville; two sisters, Elizabeth Jane Ballard of China Grove, and Shirley Jean Davis of Concord; two nieces and five nephews.

Mr. Joseph "Ed" Navarro
OAK ISLAND -- Joseph Edison "Ed" Navarro, 83, of 206 Keziah Street, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport.
Mr. Navarro was born April 16, 1918, in Key West, Fla., the son of the late Joseph Miguel and Alice Louise Pierce Navarro.
He met his wife, Katherine Cranford, in Miami, Fla., and they were married for 41 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation cadet and upon his return continued working for Eastern Airlines.
He retired from Eastern Airlines in 1978, following 39 years of service.
He was a member of the International Association of Machinists, a member of Eastern Airlines Retirees Association, and throughout his life, loved sailing, water-skiing, and golfing.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine, of the home; a daughter, Barbara Jean Denton and husband Jeff of Concord; a grandson, Stephen Peloza, Jr. and wife Deloris of Fayetteville; three great-grandchildren, Stacy Lynn Peloza, David Dever, and Christina Dever, all of Fayetteville; two half-brothers and two half-sisters, all of Florida; and his very special friend, Sugar.
The memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ocean View United Methodist Church in Oak Island.

Mr. John Stokes Sr.
WALNUT COVE -- John Clifford Stokes Sr., 75, of Walnut Cove, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
Mr. Stokes was born July 3, 1926, in New Hanover County, N.C., to the late Gordon Mansfield Stokes and Daisy Mae Turner Stokes.
He was a retired electronics technician with Raytheon.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and was of the Baptist faith.
He was an amateur radio operator for forty years and worked with MARS Network and was affiliated with NOAH.
He was preceded in death by one son, John Clifford Stokes, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Bouknight Stokes of the home; children, Janet S. Tedder and husband Jack of Kannapolis, Herbert Stokes and wife Debbie of Charleston, S.C., Cynthia Stokes of Brooksville, Fla., and Kathy S. Hughes and husband Rickey of Raleigh; one brother, Gordon Stokes of Cayce, S.C.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Salisbury National Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Almond; a daughter, Brenda Kay Almond; three brothers, Fred Lambert, Berry Lambert and Jasper Lambert; and two sisters, Gertie Greene and Froza Tucker.
Survivors include a son, Richard Almond of Locust; a daughter, Leola Furr of Albemarle; two sisters, Eunnie Lambert of Concord, and Zula Eudy of Locust; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
