Mrs. Ada Perkins
KANNAPOLIS -- Ada Waller Perkins, 87, of 7845 Howard Ave., Kannapolis, died Thursday, November 22, 2001 at her home.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The Rev. Sonny Waller will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, at Lady's Funeral Home, and at other times, will be at the home.
Born March 14, 1914, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Sanford P. Waller and Minnie Ervin Waller.
She retired several years ago from the spinning room of Cannon Mills.
Mrs. Perkins was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Perkins, who died July 22, 1976.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Whitley of Albemarle; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; 4 step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.

Randy Safrit
NEW LONDON -- Randy Linn Safrit, 55, of 308 Spring St., New London, died Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at NorthEast Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
The Rev. Rusty Inman will officiate.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30 at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove.
All other times, the family will be at his mother's home at 613 Shue Rd., China Grove.
Born Aug. 27, 1946, in Rowan County, he was the son of Betty Safrit Plummer and the late J.W. Safrit.
He was a graduate of South Rowan High School and Rowan Cabarrus Community College.
He worked as a EMS with Stanly County, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in China Grove.
In addition to his mother, survivors include a son, Chris Safrit, of Mooresville; a brother, Reggie Safrit of China Grove; a step-brother, Rev. Dr. Mark Plummer of Charlotte; step-sister, Julia Owen of Charlotte, and step-father, Carl Plummer of China Grove.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 110 West Church St., China Grove, N.C. 28023.

Mrs. Sarah Starnes
STANFIELD -- Sarah "Granny" Gladys Barbee Starnes, 89, of 14169 Travis Rd., died Wednesday, November 21, 2001.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland.
Burial will follow at Locust Presbyterian Cemetery.
The Rev. Jimmie Bartley and Rev. Johnny Starnes will officiate.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Hartsell Funeral Home and at other times, will be at the home of daughter Brenda Voncannon, 14169 Travis Rd., Stanfield.
Born Oct. 7, 1912, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Frances Carter Barbee and Israel Barbee.
She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Homer Starnes and a son, Lewis Starnes.
Survivors include five sons, Homer Ray Starnes of Stanfield, James Howard Starnes of Monroe, Luther Lee Starnes of Stanfield, Paul Homer Starnes, Jr. of Locust, Ronnie Wilson Starnes, of Oakboro; five daughters, Patsy Love of Stanfield, Brenda Voncannon of Stanfield, Minnie Frances Barbee of Locust, Shirley Kiker of Monroe Dorothy Page of Stanfield; a brother, Marvin Barbee of Locust; a sister, Dallie Efird of Locust; 35 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church, 14169 Travis Rd., Stanfield, N.C. 28163.

Ms. Freda Bussell
CONCORD -- Freda Walker Bussell, 75, of 1501 Zion Church Road East, Concord, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Eden Gardens of Concord.
There will be a graveside service Sunday at 2 p.m. at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, officiated by the Rev. Dr. John E. Boyd Jr.
There is no visitation scheduled.
Born December 25, 1925, in Glens Fork, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Carrie Willan Walker and Walker Brice Walker.
She worked in the insurance industry as a secretary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Lee Bussell.
Survivors include her daughter Pat Rediehs of Concord; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association of North Carolina, 5315 Greenbrook Drive, Charlotte, NC 28205 or National Audobon Society, 410 Airport Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.

Mrs. Willie Cline
KANNAPOLIS -- Willie Edward Cline, 87, of 6241 Old Concord-Salisbury Road, Kannapolis, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at her home.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Rogers Park Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Tony Fox and Leon Smith.
Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove.
Born March 27, 1914, in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Mary M. Bradshaw and the late Ira L. Edwards.
She was educated in Mecklenburg County Schools and spent her life as a homemaker.
She attended Rogers Park Baptist Church.
Mrs. Cline was a loving, compassionate, caring person who was the same to everyone she met.
She was a much-loved individual to her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie J. Cline, on Aug. 24, 1986; and her daughter, Marie Cline Coleman, on March 29, 2001.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Mike Howard of Kannapolis, and Johnny Howard of Lancaster, S.C.; and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Lydia Eddleman
CONCORD -- Lydia Esther Reid Eddleman, 46, of 2130 Daley Circle, Concord, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at NorthEast Medical Center.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Rocky Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. E.R. Kirkpatrick.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church.
At other times, they will receive at the home, 2130 Daley Circle, Concord.
Born in Cabarrus County on Oct. 26, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Reanell Reid, Sr. and the late Artolar Smith Reid Mitchell.
She was employed at Cannon Mills.
She was a member of the Rocky Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Concord.
She was a member of the senior Usher's Board.
She was also a member of the Missionary's group.
Survivors include a daughter, Koren Lashea Reid of the home; a son, Shelton D. Reid of the home; six sisters, Mildred Reid and Doris (Willie) Pope, both of Washington, D.C., Mary (Calvin) Cannon and Patricia Reid, Ethel Mae Reid, all of Concord, the Rev. Pearlie Foster of Charlotte; four brothers, the Rev. Reanell Reid Foster, Jr. and Jerry Reid, both of Concord, Timothy Reid (Teresa) Reid of Charlotte, Renaigo (Stephanie) Mitchell of Mount Pleasant; and one uncle, Will Smith of Concord.
Clark Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Florence Rushing
SALISBURY -- Florence Elizabeth Rushing, 63, of 3345 Statesville Blvd., formerly of 709 Gem St., Kannapolis, died Nov. 21, 2001, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be held Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Bryant-Lytle-Young Chapel.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday National Cemetery, Salisbury, officiated by the Rev. Tommy Steele.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel and other times at the residence, 3345 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury.
Born April 5, 1938, she was the daughter of Haines Bridges and Ulla Mae Boyd.
She was a retired employee from Shoney's.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara Wiltshire of Salisbury, and Bonnie Lynn Patterson of China Grove; son, Billy Ray Patterson of Kannapolis; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Bryant-Lytle-Young Funeral Home of Kannapolis, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Homer Biggers
MONROE -- Homer George Biggers, 85, of Monroe, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at the Hospice House in Monroe.
Born Feb. 18, 1916 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late James Edward and Nancy Elizabeth Coggins Biggers.
Mr. Biggers was a World War II Veteran, a graduate of Bethel High School, retired foreman of Charlotte Pipe and Foundry, and a member of Memorial United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, at Memorial United Methodist Church, by Revs. Mike McLelland and Hugh Biggers.
Burial will follow in the Lakeland Memorial Park.
Mr. Biggers is survived by his spouse of 63 years, Cyiable Biggers of the home; a son, Rev. Ed Biggers and wife Paige Reynolds Biggers of Kernersville, NC; three grandchildren, Laura Sigler and spouse Gary of High Point, Kym Willard and spouse Brian of Rural Hall, NC, and Anna Sigmon of Kernersville, NC; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Willard of Rural Hall, NC; and a brother, Carl Biggers of Concord.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Memorial United Methodist Church, 1200 Miller Street, Monroe, NC 28110.
The McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is serving the Biggers family.

Mrs. Beulah Freeman
CONCORD -- Beulah Mae Minton Freeman, 80, of 501 Little Creek Lane, Concord, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at her home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Concord.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
The Revs. Winfred Kimball, Jake Shoemaker, and David Beaver will officiate.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord.
At other times the family will be at the home on Little Creek Lane.
Born Feb. 16, 1921 in Watauga County, she was the daughter of the late Toy Day Minton and Charlie Minton.
She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Foursquare Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Freeman.
Survivors include three daughters, Edith Barbee of Concord, Betty Kepley of Midland, and Norma Jean Minton of Chattanooga, Tenn.; four sons, Earl Lane Freeman of Midland, James Worth Freeman of Salisbury, and Joe Fred Freeman and Marshall Wayne Freeman, both of Concord; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord, is handling the arrangements.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home.
At other times, they will be at the home of her daughter, Karen Tallmon, at 5521 Enochville School Rd., Lot 8, Kannapolis.
Born Jan. 10, 1935 in Wilkes County, she was the daughter of the late George Baxter Kerley and Rosa Bell Kerley.
In her earlier years, she was employed with Cannon Mills Co., Plant #1, for 35 years and later, with Southern Manufacturing, Inc. in Charlotte, for 12 years.
She also worked as a part-time health care worker.
She was a resident of the area for most of her life.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Tallmon of Kannapolis; a son, Barry Kirkland of Maryville, Calif.; three sisters, Polly Carter of China Grove, Stella Woodard of Kannapolis, and Virginia Kirkland of Hiddenite, NC; and two grandchildren, Stacy Tallmon and Samantha Tallmon, both of Kannapolis.
Whitley's Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Libby Solomon
CHINA GROVE -- Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Kirk Solomon, 81, of 2220 Daugherty Road, China Grove, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, of declining heath.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday at Lutheran Chapel Church.
Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery.
The Rev. Constance Garrett will officiate.
The family will receive friends tonight form 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove.
Born June 15, 1920 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Jennie Beaver Kirk and the late Zimra C. Kirk.
She was educated in Rowan County Schools and retried from China Grove Cotton Mill in the Packing Room.
She was a member of Lutheran Chapel Church, where she participated in Sunday Night Circle, Chapelaires, Minnie Patterson Sunday School class, and Meals on Wheels.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Raiefield Solomon, who died on May 1, 1974.
Survivors include a son, Arnold Solomon of Kannapolis; a brother, Earl Kirk of China Grove; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Lutheran Chapel Church, P.O. Box 152, China Grove, NC 28023.
Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove, is handling the arrangements.
