Johnny Butch Barnhill, 49, of Flomaton, Ala., died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at his residence following an extended illness.
Barnhill was a native of Lumberton, and a resident of Milton, Fla., before moving to Flomaton, three years ago.
He was a truck driver and member of the Flomaton Free Will Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his mother, Mildred Thompson of Oak Island; his wife, Charlene Ellis Barnhill of Flomaton, Ala.; two sons, Chris Barnhill of South Bend, Ind., and Kevin Bishop of Greenville, Ala.; two daughters, Tiffani Barnhill of Gainesville, Fla., and Lisa Tipton of Milton, Fla.; three sisters, Brenda Kay of Tuscon, Ariz., Beverly Weinstein of Vienna, Va., and Harriet Gore of Whiteville; three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held July 3, 2000, at Williams Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Curtis Joyner and the Rev. Jerry Keese officiating.
Burial was in Flomaton Cemetery.

Cynthia Prentice Kuester, 69, of Belville, died Sunday, July 9, 2000.
She was born April 3, 1931, a daughter of the late Harry and Ernestine Engel.
She was graduated from the University of Michigan and was employed with Michigan Bell Telephone Company for 28 years.
She was a former resident of Boiling Spring Lakes, and a member of the Women's Golf Association at Fox Squirrel Country Club.
Surviving are her husband, George H. Kuester of Belville; step-sons and families George, Jr. and Heidi Kuester and grandchildren, Erika, Krista and Geoffrey of Ohio, and Kurt Kuester and Debbie Davis of Florida; one sister and husband, Jane and Angel Jaimie of Michigan; cousins, John and Lillian Engel, Steve and Helen Engel, all of Florida, Barbara Winkler of New Jersey, and Dan and Betty Bielefeld of New York; friends, Jean Kirby and Jan Mandeville of Boiling Spring Lakes.
No formal funeral is planned.

Roy G. Sellers Sr., 75, of Winnabow, died Sunday, August 20, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.
Sellers was born in Brunswick County, on September 18, 1924, and was the son of the late L. O. and Nimie Danford Sellers.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Ray Sellers.
Sellers was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany, during World War II.
He was a member and former deacon of Mill Creek Baptist Church and was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Johnson Sellers of Brunswick Cove; two sons, R.G. Sellers, Jr. and wife, Sue of Leland, Carlton Sellers and wife, Pam of Rural Hall; a daughter, Dorothy S. Edwards and husband, Kenny of King; two grandchildren, Ken Edwards of Walkertown, and Tanya Sellers of Leland; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Sellers of Southport; three sisters, Eva Mae Varnam and Lara Linker of Bolivia and Margaret Holmes of Shallotte.
Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Robbins Cemetery, Bolivia, with the Rev. Avery Lumsden officiating.
Nephews served as pallbearers.

Douglas James Fairbanks, 55, of Oak Island, died Wednesday, August 16, 2000, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
The family received friends at Peacock-Newnam Funeral Home, Friday evening.
Fairbanks was born August 21, 1944, in Cook County, Ill., and moved to Oak Island, in 1979.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was employed as foreman with the Brunswick County garage.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Lou Fairbanks of the home; a daughter, LuAnn Bennett of Cummings, Ga.; three sons, James Edward Bennett, Jr. of Sandy Springs, Ga., Harry G. Bennett of Leland and William R. Bennett of Oak Island; a sister, Nancy Brinkley; five grandchildren.

Parks was born December 2, 1934, in Forsyth County, a son of the late Ralph and Irene Lee Parks, and moved here from Winston-Salem, 15 years ago.
He was a retired home-building contractor, a graduate of Griffith High School in Winston-Salem, a member of Oak Island Lodge #758 A.F. & A.M. and Oak Island Moose Lodge.
Survivors include three sons, David Monroe Parks, Jr. of Oak Island, Jeffrey Alan Parks and James Gregory Parks, both of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Roger Parks of Florida, and Charles Parks of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Betty White, Faith Landreth and Ann Goforth, all of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren.

Maynard Harrison Owens, 71, of Shallotte, died Friday, September 8, 2000, in Brunswick Community Hospital.
He was born in Wilson, a son of the late William Robert and Nancy Almeta Owens.
He retired in 1986, following 30 years employment with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service.
He was a member of Shallotte Lodge 727 and Scottish Rite Bodies, Wilmington Consistory.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Owens; two sons and their wives, Glenn and Sharon Owens of Bolivia and Kenneth and Carrie Owens of Radford, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Keith Gore of Walkertown; one sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and David Gay of Wilson; six grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. John Peverett and the Rev. Bill Greer.
Burial was in Brunswick Memorial Gardens with Masonic rites.

Denis Lowell O'Toole, 64, of St. James, died Saturday, September 16, 2000, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

O'Toole was born June 5, 1936, in Watertown, N.D., son of the late Albert C. and Luceil Culey O'Toole, and moved here from Vienna, Va., five years ago.
He was a retired systems analyst with Boeing Computer Services.
He was the widower of Nancy Shaffer O'Toole and is survived by two sons, Michael B. O'Toole and wife, Jennifer of Napa, Calif., and Timothy P. O'Toole of San Diego, Calif.; and a soon-to-be-born grandchild.

He was born in Baltimore, Md., and moved from North Carolina, to Florida, in 1990.
He was a purchasing agent for Reynolds Tobacco for 21 years and owned Ocean 1 Realty in Oak Island.
He was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Tarpon Springs, Fla., had served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; sons, David of Southport and William of Tampa, Fla.; daughter, Melanie Calary of Winston-Salem; a brother, John Crispens, and a sister, Catherine Sapia, both of Baltimore, Md.; one granddaughter.
A memorial service was held Monday at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Tarpon Springs.

Todd John Neeley, 25, of Oak Island, died September 18, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
He was a Wilmington native, born March 23, 1975, to J. Kirk and Phyllis H. Neeley.
He was graduated from North Brunswick High School in 1993, and was a student at Brunswick Community College in health information technology.
He attended Ocean View United Methodist Church in Oak Island.
Surviving are his parents of Oak Island and one brother, Scott K. Neeley of Charlotte.
A memorial service was held Saturday at his home in Oak Island.
