CONCORD -- Helen Irene Misenheimer, 80, of 657 Sunderland Road, Concord, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at NorthEast Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
Pastor Larry Irvin and Rev. Jimmy Furr will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Born Nov. 5, 1921, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and the late Flora Bostian Misenheimer.
She was retired from Cannon Mills, Plant #6.
Survivors include a son, Roger Dale Misenheimer of Concord; a sister, Mrs. Bertie M. Bost of Concord; and a brother, William Carl Misenheimer of Chicago, Ill.

Mrs. Mary Walters
GASTONIA -- Mary Helms Walters, 91, died at Courtland Terrace on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002.
She was a native of Union County, North Carolina, born Jan. 13, 1910, to the late Will A. and Hattie Horn Helms.
She was the widow of the late Rev. H. Lloyd Walters. Predeceased are an infant son, Charles Walters, and a grandson, Steve Griffin.
Also predeceased are six brothers, Donald, Eustace, Odell, Raymond, Myrel, and Brice; and two sisters, Minnie High and Louise (Mrs. Fleet Thomas), all from Anson, Union and Mecklenburg counties.
As long as she was able, Mary attended the Unity Baptist Church where she was an active member as long as her health permitted.
Mourning her death are many friends and family members. Survivors are five sons, Ray and his wife Dorothy of Charlotte, Glenn and the late Barbara Walters of Taylors, S.C., Lloyd F. and his wife Jackie Walters of Jamestown, N.C., Jerry and his wife Mary Ann Walters of Gastonia, and Phillip M. Walters of Kannapolis; four daughters, Geraldine of Gastonia, Betty and her husband Boyd Griffin of Monroe, Doris Walters of Winston-Salem, and Annette and her husband John Bennett of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; eight grandsons, Terry and Tom Walters, Gary and Dale Walters, Jerry, Jr. and Sean Walters, Roger Griffin, and Lloyd (Stoney) Walters; eight granddaughters, Sandra Helms, Pam Hart, Tonya (Kitty) Walters, Cathy Nimmons, Sherry Bennett, Debra Bennett, Gina Mendez, and Lisa Walters; and eight great-grandchildren, Jessica Walters, Amy Walters Turner, Garrett Helms, T.J. Nimmons, Collin and Casey Walters, and Tyler and Savannah Walters.
Mary leaves behind one younger sister, Mrs. Claude (Jonhsie) Medlin of Wingate, N.C., and one half-brother, Franklin Helms of Marshville, N.C., as well as many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at McLean's Funeral Home, located on New Hope Rd.
The Rev. Jimmy Farmer will officiate and Frances Lamb, friend of the family, will give the eulogy.
Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday before the service.

KANNAPOLIS -- Velta Demetrius Pair Beamon, 75, of 118 Brookshire Drive, Kannapolis, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at NorthEast Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethleham Baptist Church, of which she was a member.
Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The Rev. Edward Pigg will officiate.

Born Dec. 29, 1926, in Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Hardy L. and Lula Edwards Pair.
She was retired from Grants Department Store.
Mrs. Beamon was preceded in death by her husband, P.I. Beamon.
Survivors include a son, Larry Wayne Allen and wife Donna of Kannapolis; three grandchildren, David Allen, Debbie Bowers, and Jennifer Cook; and five great-grandchildren.

MONROE -- Evelyn Louise Biggers, 82, of 215 Clontz Road, Monroe, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at Union Regional Hospital.

Burial will follow at Crooked Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Monroe.
Born Jan. 20, 1919, in Union County, she was the daughter of the late Mamie Biggers and Henry Brown Biggers.
She was a retired secretary with Universal Pictures and a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church.
She was a veteran of the U.S. Marines having served in World War II.
Survivors include two sisters, Mildred Austin of Monroe and Helen Lowder of Charlotte; and one brother, Heath Biggers of Midland.

Mrs. Ruth Edmondson
HIGH POINT -- Ruth Byerly Edmondson, 96, of High Point, N.C., died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at the Wesleyan Arms Nursing Home.
rs. Edmondson was born in Guilford County on Dec. 5, 1905, the fifth of 10 children born to Joseph Purnell and Caroline Allred Byerly. After working at Adams Millis Hosiery for many years, Mrs. Edmondson was a nurse's aide at High Point Regional Hospital. She moved briefly to Concord, after the 1980 death of her husband, Julius Dallas Edmondson. She then returned to High Point where she lived at Astor Dowdy Towers before moving to Wesleyan Arms. She was a member of Conrad Memorial Baptist Church and was well-known among her family and friends for her southern hospitality.
Surviving is a brother, Fred W. "Bill" Byerly of Jamestown and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Conrad Memorial Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Marcus Campbell and the Rev. Bob Hiatt.
Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery in Greensboro.
The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the service hour.

SENOIA, Ga. -- John William Frieze, III, 26, of Senoia, Ga., died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002.

Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City, Ga.
Mr. Frieze was the son of Linda and John Frieze II of Ellenboro, N.C.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Tiffany Royal Frieze of Senoia; a daughter, Grace Riley Frieze of Senoia; two sisters, Tamara Lyons of Sugar Hill and Sherri Kilby of Kannapolis; and nephews.

Mrs. Edna Glosson
CHARLOTTE -- Edna Kennington Glosson passed away on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at the age of 91.
She was born June 12, 1910, in Lancaster, S.C., the daughter of the late Leila Todd and Roach Hazel Kennington.
She was the wife of the late Charlie William Glosson to whom she was married for 56 years until his death in 1996.
Valedictorian of her class, Edna graduated from Lowell High School and later received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Catawba College and a Master's Degree in Education from Appalachian State University.
She was an educator in the Kannapolis City and Mecklenburg County school systems for more than 32 years, serving at various times as teacher, guidance counselor and principal.
Edna was a life member of the Women's Society of Christian Service in Kannapolis, and was also the president of the Clarice Women's Club, and served as Superintendent of Sunday School for 15 years.
She was president of the local Chapter of the Red Cross, Founder and president of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens Group at Dunlin's Grove Christian Advent Church, and started the drive that led to the formation of children's summer playground activities at Clear Creek School, soliciting the Governor's backing to insure the program's establishment.
She represented Mecklenburg County at the Mother of the Year Awards held in Raleigh, was president of the E.H. Club in Mecklenburg County, for 10 years, and president of the local Teacher's N.C.E.A. group.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Martha Glosson Howard of Charlotte; her son, Ronald Kennington Glosson of Barrington, R.I.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel at Carolina Memorial Park Gardens in Concord, with entombment to follow in the mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.

Born Nov. 19, 1939, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Joe F. Hartsell Sr. and Frances Faggart Hartsell.
He was employed with BSL Lumber Company and an avid gardener who loved to ride his Harley Davidson.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wilson Hartsell; two daughters, Wanda Beachum and her husband Justin of Wadesboro and Susan Usrey and her husband Johnny of Lilesville; a step-daughter, Reba Lee of Kannapolis; a son, Dale Hartsell of Concord; a step-son, Jeffrey Burgess of Kannapolis; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Born June 10, 1929, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late W.P. "Bill" Yates and Fannie Clampett Yates.
Mrs. Henry was educated in the Kannapolis City Schools and she was a member of Fisher Street Baptist Church in Concord.
A homemaker all her life, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Henry, who died in 1999.
Survivors include her son, William "Bill" Henry of Kannapolis; two daughter, Joyce McCool and husband Al and Joan Honeycutt and husband Howard, all of Kannapolis; two brothers, Price Yates and Wayne Yates, both of Kannapolis; a sister, Willie Mae Palmer of Kannapolis; five grandchildren, Kevin Honeycutt, Jason Honeycutt, Melonie Henry, Tracie Faircloth, and Joye McCool; and two great-grandchildren, Ashton Alexander and Matthew Alexander.
