Mrs. Margaret Richardson
KANNAPOLIS -- Margaret Belle Beaver Richardson, 83, of 309 S. Rose Ave., Kannapolis, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at NorthEast Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel and Mausoleum. The Rev. William J. Campbell will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. At other times, they will be at the home at 309 S. Rose Ave., Kannapolis.
Born August 4, 1918, in Moore County, she was the daughter of the late James and Virda McWhorter Beaver. She worked at Cannon Mills Co. plant one, packaging department until her retirement. She was a member of Mount Zion United Church of Christ, China Grove and had lived in the Kannapolis area most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Edward Richardson.
Survivors include one son, Gerald Wayne Richardson and wife Betty of Rock Hill, S.C.; one daughter Sharon Richardson Pope and husband William of Kannapolis; three grandchildren, Gerald Wayne Richardson Jr. and wife Lisa of Chapel Hill, Shane Eric Richardson of Rock Hill and Brian Douglas Pope of Kannapolis; three great-grandchildren, Gerald Wayne Richardson III, Ann Louise Richardson and Elle Richardson, all of Chapel Hill; and one sister Irene Albright of China Grove.
Memorials may be made to Mount Zion United Church of Christ, 1415 S. Main St., China Grove, NC, 28023, or American Cancer Society, 500 E. Morehead St., Charlotte, NC, 28202.
Whitley's Funeral home of Kannapolis, is handling the arrangements.

Mr. John Smith
SALISBURY -- John Junior Smith, 67, of 726 Crown Point Drive, Salisbury, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at his home.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Southside Baptist Church, where the body will lay in state for one hour before the service. Officiating will be the Rev. Ricky Brown, pastor. Entombment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 3, at Summersett Funeral Home.
Born Sept. 24, 1934, in McComas, W.Va., he was the son of the late Pearl Mae Austin Smith and the late John Harvey Smith. He was a graduate of Princeton High School in Princeton, W.Va., and attended Bluefield Business College in Bluefield, W.Va.
He was employed by Southern Appraisal Co. in West Virginia for one and a half years; J.M. Clemshaw Appraisal Co. in West Virginia for one year; Associated Surveys in North Carolina for two years; Cabarrus County Tax Assessor for two years; and Rowan County Tax Assessor's Office for over 31 years as an appraiser until his retirement Sept. 30, 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Linkous Smith, whom he married Aug. 22, 1964; brother, Alvis I. Smith of Columbus, Texas; two sisters, Laura Thorn of Mullins, W.Va., and Bondean Spence of Louisburg, W.Va.
Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 517 Morlan Park Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.

Mrs. Mary Allmon
MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mary Frances Rinehardt Allmon, 65, of 824 Skyland Drive, Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002 at her home.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Mission Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Ronny Russell will officiate.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Gordon Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant.
Mrs. Allmon was born Feb. 9, 1936, in Cabarrus County. She was the daughter of the late Berry Lee Rinehardt and Elvia Little Rinehardt. Mary Frances was the owner and operator of Unique Hair Designs in Concord. Her love for people and for hair styling earned her 45 years in the industry and a place in Who's Who in America for 2002. She loved the people she served and has touched so many lives with her beauty, wit and charm.
She was also a well-loved and cherished Sunday School teacher at Mission Baptist Church for many years, teaching and showing the love of Jesus. She was an avid gardener who created her own Eden in her backyard, and mastered with much modesty the compliments she received. The sound of her laughter echoed wherever she was and it was almost always contagious. She always put others first which gave her, her largest blessings.
She was the best at everything: wife, mother, sister, mentor, neighbor, friend and willingly honored everything God placed in her reach to accomplish. She will be greatly missed here but will be residing in the Dwelling Place of the Most High and those of us who's lives she has touched, will carry her with us always.
Survivors include her husband, William "Bobo" L. Allmon Jr.; a daughter, Carol Allmon of Mount Pleasant; four brothers, Bain Rinehardt, Brown Rinehardt, B.L. Rinehardt, all of Concord, and Lewis Rinehardt of Summerville, S.C. and two sisters, Louise Brown of Mount Pleasant and Jamie Givens of Matthews.

Mrs. Annie Bailey
FORT WORTH, TX -- Annie Randolph Trivette Bailey, 91, of 784 Natalie Drive, Fort Worth, TX and formerly of Kannapolis, died peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002 in Fort Worth.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Carolina Memorial Park. The Rev. Donald Karriker will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Born May 15, 1910, in Heaton, Mrs. Bailey was the daughter of the late Roscoe Trivette and Etta Guinn Trivette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil E. Bailey; three sisters, Mary Hicks, Texie Trivette, Dixie Patton and a brother, Ben Haden.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean B. Karriker and husband Don, of Fort Worth, TX; a sister, Martha Hodges, of Kannapolis; three grandchildren, Kenneth Karriker of Springfield, MO, Deborah McGarth of Arlington, TX and Donna Tomasi of Fort Worth and six grandchildren.

Mr. Peter Duenas
MOORESVILLE -- Peter Castro Duenas, 49, of 1224 North Main St., Mooresville, died Jan. 27, 2002 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, Feb. 5 at Saint Therese Catholic Church with Father James Keogh. Burial will follow in Glenwood Memorial Park.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. on Monday.
Mr. Duenas was born on July 8, 1952 in Guam. He was employed by Freightliner. Peter will be missed by his Tae-Kwon-Do students of 20 years.
Survivors include his father, Enrque Duenas of Guam; two sons, Gerald Jonson of Guam, Jacob Reimer of Utah; a daughter, Christeena Billings of Utah and his fiance, Judy Heldman of Mooresville; eight sisters; four brothers and two grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Family House of Chapel Hill, P.O. Box 16606, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27516.

Mr. Ralph Edsall
CONCORD -- Ralph William Edsall, 79, of 413 Winecoff School Road, Concord, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Five Oaks Nursing Home.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at All Saints Episcopal Church, where he was a 53-year member. The Rev. Fred Hoffman will officiate.
The family will receive friends after the service in the church parlor, and will be at 394 Queens Drive the remaining time.
Born Aug. 18, 1922, in Louisville, Ky., he was the son of the late Bryon Golden and Gertrude Ann Paulk Edsall. He was educated in the Louisville Public Schools and attended the University of Louisville. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor's degree before serving in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1947, where he attained the rank of Lieutenant in the Naval Supply Corp.
In the 1950s he was active in the Concord Jaycees, helping organize the group's Ground Observer Corp. and serving as Chief Observer. He was president of the group from 1956 to 1957, and earned the Jaycee's Distinguished Service Award in 1956.
He was a member of the Concord Rotary Club, in which he served as secretary and treasurer from 1956 to 1965, was club president from 1966 to 1967. He also served as director several terms. In 1982, he was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Concord Rotary Club.
He was a former director of the Cabarrus County Boy's Club, and was a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board for many years. He was also chairman of the Salvation Army's property committee and a Winter Night Shelter volunteer.
Mr. Edsall was active with the United Way of Cabarrus County, serving as a frequent campaign volunteer and for many years as director. He was vice-president of the budget and allocation board from 1980 to 1982 and in 1983 received the United Way President's Award. He was a director of Serenity House Inc. from 1989 to 1999, and was a Red Cross volunteer.
He was a past Vestry member and Senior Warden of his church, and had served as the church's volunteer business manager and building fund chairman. He was also a member of the Concord Bible Teaching Association and a past president.
Mr. Edsall was a member and chairman of Concord's A.B.C. Board from 1967 to 1988.
He was named Man of the Year by the Concord Business and Professional Women's Club in 1980, and won the Business Associate of the Year Award from the American Business Women's Association Cabarrus Gold Charter Chapter.
His business associations and included Reynolds Metals Company from 1947 to 1948, Concord Tractor & Motor Company from 1949 to 1958, in association with Hugh B. and Tommy Craig. From 1959 to 1969, he was with Carol May Hosiery Mill, having served as vice president and secretary.
From 1969 to 1986, Mr. Edsall was with Cabarrus Hosiery Company, Monroe Hosiery Finishers, and Scenic Hosiery, which merged into the Carol May Hosiery Mill. The Carol May Hosiery Mill then became Arrowood Mills of N.C., Inc., which served as the manufacturing facility for Arrowood Mills, Inc. of New York. Mr. Edsall was President and Treasurer of Arrowood until he retired in 1987.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Alice Craig Edsall; three sons, R.W. "Bill" Edsall, Jr. of Concord, James Craig Edsall of Gallup, N.M., and Hugh Byron Edsall of Palm Harbor, Fla.; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Mrs. Martha Jones
SALISBURY -- Martha Gibbs Jones, 97, of 335 Cliff Eagle Road, formerly of Lake Toxaway, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002 at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Selica United Methodist Church in Brevard. Burial will follow at Tabernacle Methodist Church Cemetery in Black Mountain. The Rev. Thomas Lee Gibbs and the Rev. John Blalock will officiate.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Moore Funeral Home in Brevard.
Born Aug. 29, 1904, in Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late John A. Gibbs and Elizabeth Westall Gibbs. She was a homemaker and a member of Selica United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred Lee "Winnie" Jones, who she married on April 22, 1922 and a son, William A. Jones.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruby Powell and Dixie Jordan, both of Salisbury; six sons, Winfred L. Jones, Jr. of Charleston, Morris R. Jones of Salisbury, Clyde C. Jones of Brevard, Joe M. Jones of Brevard, Charles L. Jones of Brevard, Jack D. Jones and wife Mary Lou of Kannapolis; one brother, Paul Gibbs of Marion; one sister, Mildred Seagle of Marion; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Infant Jada Stafford
CONCORD -- Infant Jada Stafford, of 333 Lincoln St., Concord, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002 at NorthEast Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Rutherford Memorial Park. The Rev. Haven Anderson, pastor of Cedar Grove AME Zion will officiate.
The family will receive friends at 333 Lincoln Street.
Jada was the daughter of Maurice Stafford and Shirla Steele of Concord.
In addition to her parents, survivors include grandparents, Michael Dean of Charlotte, George and Shirley Eskew of Concord, and Eleanor and Jacky Stafford of Midland; three great-great-grandmothers, Betty Steele of Concord, Mildred Reid of Concord, and Edna Dean of Charlotte; an uncle, Stevelin Steele of Charlotte; a great aunt, Ann Steele of Salisbury, and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rollins Adams
KANNAPOLIS -- Rollins R. (Dock) Adams, 91, of 205 Heintz Ave., died Thursday, January 31, 2002, at the V.A. Hospital in Ashville.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis. The Rev. Rick Chaballa will officiate. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. today at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home.
Born June 11, 1910, in Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Elwood and Hattie Lunsford Adams. He was retired from Cannon Mills Plant Four. He was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army and was a member of the DAV.
He was preceded in death by his wife Parrie Beatrice Adams, who died in May of 1994.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Erwin of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Mrs. James (Carol) Ingram, Mike Erwin, Mrs. Bill (Sharon) Seaford and Mrs. Jeff (Lorie) Stancil; one sister, Mattie O'Berry of Texas; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Donald Bell
CHARLOTTE -- Donald Herbert Bell, 65, of Charlotte, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at CMC Mercy Hospital.
Don was born on October 21, 1936 outside of Los Angeles, California. He attended high school in Visalia, California, and college at COS in Visalia, and Fresno State University in Fresno, California.
Don was a well-known and respected radio announcer and program director, working at KFRE in Fresno, California, WIOD in Miami, Florida, and WSOC AM/FM in Charlotte. He also acted in many plays and was a commercial voice-over artist.
On January 5, 2002, he suffered a stroke. He was a fighter who loved living up till the very last breath. His dry sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
Don leaves behind to miss him, his wife of 45 years, Patricia, his two daughters and son in laws, Alison and Tony McCue, and Jennifer Bell and Alex Head, his favorite baseball player and beloved grandson, Chaz McCue, his nephew Jason Hinchman, his niece Suellen Jackson, his two sister in laws, Beverly LeFay and Betty Hinchman, his brother-in-law, Bill Hinchman, his cousin Mary Elizabeth Finch, and large group of wonderful friends.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and physicians on the 4th and 5th floors of Presbyterian and the 6th floor rehab and the 7th floor South of CMC Mercy, especially Sister Anne Marie. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Sunday, February 3, at 1:00 p.m. in the Dilworth Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, and following the service at the residence.
Arrangements are in the care of Hankins and Whittington Dilworth Chapel, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC.
