Mr. George Frank Moore, 89, of Jefferson Street, Yadkinville, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Willowbrook Health Care Center.
He was born May 2, 1914, in Catawba County to the late William Francis and Grace McLean Moore. Mr. Moore was a member of the First Baptist Church of Yadkinville. He was a retired Auto Mechanic with Firestone, enjoyed fixing the lawnmowers of his neighbors and friends, as well as sharing the produce from his garden with them.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Hutchens Moore on April 9, 2003; six brothers, Joe Bert Moore, Vance Moore, Paul Moore, Ralph Moore, Bruce Moore, Allen Moore; and a sister, Grace Virginia Moore Hoffman.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Carol Moore (Emmitte) Winslow, Yadkinville; Brent (Cara) Winslow, Yadkinville; Kyle (Jill) Winslow, Enon; Vann (Emily) Winslow, Apex; five great-grandchildren, Emily, Bennett, Chase, Spencer and Ella Winslow; a brother, Howard Moore, Harmony; and three special great niece and nephews, Elizabeth, Justin and Adam Lancaster.
His funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, at the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Kenny Gooden. Burial followed in the Yadkinville Cemetery.
The family received friends from 10:30-11 a.m. Monday before the service at Gentry Family Funeral Service, or other times at the home of Mr. Moore’s daughter, Carol Winslow, 1325 Cross Creek Drive, Yadkinville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the Alzeheimer's Association Triad Area, 545 North Trade Street, Suite 35, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27101 or to the Willowbrook Healthcare Alzeheimer's Unit, 333 East Lee Avenue, Yadkinville, N.C. 27055.

Lucy Irene Dobbins Swaim
Mrs. Lucy Irene Dobbins Swaim, 82, of Plainfield Drive, Shelby, and formerly of Boonville, passed away Friday, March 26, 2004, at her home.
She was born July 12, 1921, in Yadkin County to the late Luther Sanders and Mary Elsie Wishon Dobbins.
Mrs. Swaim was co-owner and operator of the Tilghman Beach Fishing Pier with her husband for several years.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Edworth "Buddy" Swaim, on April 16, 1999.
Surviving are her sons, Randall Gary Swaim and wife Linda of Boonville; Edworth Swaim Jr. and wife Debra of Surfside Beach; Aaron Ladd Swaim and wife Emi of Honolulu, Hawaii; three daughters, Janet Swaim Clark and husband Bobby of Burlington; Deborah Swaim Shell and husband Patrick of Independence, Va.; Holly Swaim Brock of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Doug Clark, Ed Spencer, Van Swaim, John Dylan Swaim, Jody Swaim, Luther Swaim, Angela Brock; and one great-grandchild, Ellie Clark.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Boonville Baptist Church by Rev. Ken Boaz aand Rev. Tim Tapp. Burial will follow in the Boonvile Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the parlor of Boonville Baptist Church.

Samuel Conner Garmon
Samuel Conner Garmon, age 1, of Nichols Road, Jonesville, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.
Samuel was born March 26, 2003, in Buncombe County to Jesse Wayne and Rebecca Robinson Garmon Jr.
Samuel attended Calvary Wesleyan Church and will always be remembered by his smile and laughter.
Survivors include his father and mother, Jesse Wayne and Rebecca Robinson Garmon Jr. of the home; one sister, Emily Cheryl Garmon of the home; paternal grandparents, Jesse and Bobbie Garmon of Elkin; maternal grandparents, Howard and Alta Robinson of Hendersonville; paternal aunts and uncles, Beth and Jeff Poplin of Elkin, Chris and Doreen Garmon of Clemmons, DeAnne and Andrew Burgess of South Portland, Maine; maternal aunts and uncles, Stephanie and David Rhyne of Liberty, S.C.; Glen and Natalie Robinson of Huntington, Ind.; and cousins, Kacie and Anna Poplin, Daniel and James Garmon, Ellie and Mitchell Rhyne.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 3, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Wesleyan Church by Rev. Steve Robinson, Rev. Glen Robinson and Rev. Jesse Garmon.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Samuel will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens.

Eva Little Walters
Mrs. Eva Little Walters, age 78, of Brookwood Drive, Elkin, passed away Monday, May 31, 2004, at her residence.
Mrs. Walters was born July 28, 1925, in Halifax County, Virginia, to W.P. and Gracie Daulton Little.
Mrs. Walters was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church and the VFW Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, George "Bill" Walters of the home; a daughter, Mahala Huffman and husband Arthur of Elkin; grandchildren, Haley Huffman of Orlando, Fla., Kristen Huffman of Chapel Hill; brother-in-law, Henry Walters and wife Shirley of Elkin; and sister-in-law, Myrtle Newman of Elkin.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church by Rev. Johnny Blevins and Rev. Charles Lethcoe. Burial followed at Crestwood Memorials Gardens. Mrs. Walters was placed in the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family received friends Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Elkin Valley Baptist Church Building Fund.

Danny Lee Newman
Mr. Danny Lee Newman, age 45, of Elkin Hwy., North Wilkesboro, died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Wilkes Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 30, at 3 p.m. at Liberty Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. David Sparks officiating.
Mr. Newman was born in Surry County, Sept. 5, 1958, to Jack and Wanda Byrd Newman. He was an active member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church. He served as deacon, youth Sunday school teacher and was a member of the adult choir. Mr. Newman was also a coach for the Lady Viking basketball league. Mr. Newman was employed by Duke Power Company for 26 years, serving as operating supervisor of the transmission department in the Jonesville-Winston-Salem area. Mr. Newman also held an unlimited electrical contractor license.
Mr. Newman is survived by his wife, Kimberly Wood Newman of the home; one daughter, Laura Brooke Newman of the home; one son, Zachary Grant Newman of the home; his mother, Wanda Rumple of North Wilkesboro; one sister, Debbie Pierce of North Wilkesboro; and two brothers, Derrick Newman of Elkin and Dean Newman of Wattsville, Ala.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may by made to Liberty Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 5899 River Liberty Grove Road, North Wilkesboro, N.C. 28659.

Joshua Cole Arnder
Master Joshua Cole Arnder, infant son of Joshua Andrew and Amber Blackburn Arnder of White Plains Road, Roaring River died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, Va.
A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004, at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery with the Dr. Monroe Huffman and the Pastor Jason Whitley officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. prior to the service in the church.
Joshua was born May 30, 2004, in Galax, Va.
He is survived by his parents, of White Plains Road, Roaring River; maternal grandparents, Irvin and Rita Blackburn of Roaring River, Cheryl and George Viehmeyer of Townsend, Tenn; paternal grandparents, Phil and Patricia Vestal of State Road; maternal great-grandparents, Odell and Evelyn Blackburn of Roaring River, Charles and Nellie Robertson of Newton; paternal great-grandparents, Evan and Verlie Vestal of Boonville and Ronald and Nellie Smith of Cana, Va.

Paul Harold Webb
Paul Harold Webb passed away August 7, 2004. He was born April 26, 1936 to James William Webb and Margaret Jane Myers Webb in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Mr. Webb was educated in West Virginia at various technical schools and served in the Air Force from 1954-1964. He worked as a field representative for computer companies until his retirement in 1998.
Mr. Webb married Virginia Marty Hayes (daughter of Noah and Vetra Hayes) on October 25, 1957. Other survivors include: two daughters Paula (Tom) Crowder of Dickinson, Texas; Pamela (Ronald) Johnson of Dauphin Manitoba,Canada; one sister Carol Ball of Laurel Maryland; one brother James Webb of Virginia; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Webb will be August 10th at the English Funeral Home in Post Falls. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion of Post Falls. The family requests no flowers but donations can be made to the North Idaho Heart Center; 2003 Lincoln Way; Couer d'Alene, ID 83814.
