Lindley Gray Wagoner
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, against such these is no law. Galations 5: 22-23.
Such was the life of Lindley Gray Wagoner, Boonville, who went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 6, 2005, with loved ones gone before. Gray was a quiet-spoken man, but spoke with wisdom. Gray was a graduate of West Yadkin High School and the N.C. State University school of truck driving. He worked for P.H. Hanes Knitting Co. and Pilot Freight Carriers before returning to Yadkin County in 1970 to do poultry and beef cattle farming. He was born into the Kingdom of God in April 1959 at Hawthorne Road Baptist Church, Winston-Salem. He loved fishing, playing softball for Hanes Knitting, basketball, football and was an avid Washington Redskins fan until the Carolina Panthers came to Charlotte (though he stilled pulled for the Redskins on occasions). Gray was born January 20, 1930, in Yadkin County, the son of the late Noah and Bessie Wagoner.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 56 years, Thyra Church Wagoner of the home; two children, Lynn (Renee’) Wagoner of Charlotte, and Gina (Sonny) Hobson of Yadkinville; one grandson, Miles, his pride and joy, of Waxhaw; a brother, Reece (Myrtle) Wagoner, of Boonville; a sister, Angeline (Bill) Allen, Hamptonville; his little dachshund Abby, and seven granddogs, Gracie, Ellie, Dottie, Winston, Marshall, Pearl and Tipper. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Sincere appreciation to niece Anita Issa and close friend Judy Dickens for their care. A special “Thanks” to Katrina McDowell, our Hospice “Angel.” The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Flat Rock Baptist Church family for their outpouring gestures of love in cards, food, calls, visits, most of all prayers during Gray’s illness.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Gideons Intenational, American Cancer Society for Renal Cancer Research or Hospice of Yadkin-Surry County.
A graveside service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 9 at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery, officiated by Dr. Dan Wood and Rev. Mike Snelgrove. A “Celebration of Gray’s life” will follow in the fellowship hall of the church.

Ronald Thomas Anderson
Mr. Ronald “Ron” Thomas Anderson, age 33, of Ambrose Creek Road, State Road, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Anderson was born July 28, 1971, in Akron, Ohio, to Bertha Anderson. He was a brother Mason and member of the Christian community. Mr. Anderson was a building contractor and owner of Anderson Construction Company.
Ron is survived by Bertha Anderson, his mother, of Elkin; Lloyd D. Anderson Jr., his brother, of State Road; two sisters, Sharon Speaks and husband Bergie, and Mary Lyon, all of Ronda; a maternal grandfather, John Smithberger of Ohio; a nephew, Bergie Speaks IV; three nieces, Charity Speaks, Kayla and Brooklyn Lyon.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church by the Rev. Joel Blevins and the Rev. Kent Wood. The family will receive friends Thursday and Friday at the home of Bertha Anderson at 1105 Elk Spur Street, (Beauty Street) Elkin, N.C. 28621.
Iris Minish Canipe
Mrs. Iris Minish Canipe, age 91, of Elkin, widow of Johnny Canipe of Jonesville, passed away August 4, 2005, at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Canipe was born January 1, 1914, in Elkin to the late Richard and Rosa Thompson Minish.
She was a lifelong and devoted member of Jonesville United Methodist Church where she served as librarian and Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Canipe taught second grade at Jonesville Elementary school for 39 years and was a member of the Eastern Star and had received her 50 year service pin. She was preceded in death by a brother, Sgt. Russell B. Minish and sisters, Frances M. Hoffman, and Rosalie M. Katz.
She is survived by sisters, Camilla M. Pardue and Elizabeth M. Fisher and several loving and devoted nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2005, at Jonesville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bobby Swaim officiating. Burial followed in Sunrise Cemetery in Jonesville. The family received friends on Saturday, August 6, 2005, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Jonesville United Methodist Church, 305 West Main Street, Jonesville, NC 28642.

James Leo “Jimmy” Somers
James Leo “Jimmy” Somers Jr., 41, of Hamptonville died Friday, August 5, 2005, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Jimmy was born September 25, 1963, in Yadkin County to James Leo Somers Sr. and Peggy Reid Somers. He was a graduate of Wilkes Community College and was a member of Union Baptist Church. Jimmy loved motorcross racing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his father.
Left to Cherish his memory is the love of his life, Chris Brown of Hamptonville; two sons, Josh Somers, William Bustle; a daughter, Ashley Bustle; his mother, Peggy Reid Somers of Hamptonville; a sister, Suzanne Bare and husband, Robert, of Hamptonville; and a brother, Tracy Lee Somers and friend, Ashley Wilson.
The Somers Family received friends Sunday, August 7 from 2-3 p.m. at Union Bapitst Church. The Funeral Service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 7 at Union Baptist Church by the Rev. Kenny Pardue. Burial was in the church cemetery following the service.
Julia Elizabeth Parks Norman
Mrs. Julia Elizabeth Parks Norman, age 55, of Thurmond Road, Thurmond, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2005, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Norman was born December 16, 1949, in Iredell County to Julius Eugene and Ruby Pruitt Parks.
Mrs. Norman was a member of Roaring River Methodist Church and attended Mining Ridge Baptist Church. She was a retired school teacher from Jonesville Elementary School after 30 years of service. She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include: her husband, Roger Dale Norman of the home; two sons, Roger Dale Norman II, Ryan Drew Norman, both of the home; her mother, Ruby Parks Pruitt of North Wilkesboro; a brother, Julius Parks and wife Ginger of Roaring River; a sister, Barbara Sparks and husband Jack of Kernersville; a grandson, Jared Caleb Wood.
A graveside service was held Saturday, August 6, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Roaring River Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Bell and Pastor Terry Morris officiating. The family received friends Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
Talmage Paul Triplett
Mr. Talmage Paul Triplett, 81, of Barker Road, Elkin passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Triplett was born July 4, 1924, in Wilkes County to Link and Fannie Baldwin Triplett.
Mr. Triplett was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers.
Survivors include: a wife, Blanche West Triplett of the home; two sons, Jr. Triplett and wife Nancy, Charles Triplett and wife Becky; a daughter, Margaret Swisher and husband James, all of Elkin; nine grandchildren, Ricky Myers, Chastity Layell, Misty Lester, Kim Clendenen, Bobby Triplett, Melissa Bullins, Luke Triplett, Jody Brown Triplett, Justin Harkey; nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Oak Level Baptist Church by the Rev. James NC 28202 or to First Christian Church, 625 Meadowbrook Drive, King, NC 27021.
Peggy Ester Oliver Eidson
On December 28, 2005, Peggy Ester Oliver Eidson, age 81 went to be with our Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James Hampton Eidson. She leaves behind, five children and their spouses, twelve grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary in Oak Ridge, Tenn. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
