Juanita Cockerham Woodmancy
Mrs. Juanita Cockerham Woodmancy, age 92, of Britthaven Nursing Center of Wilkesboro passed away Oct. 26, 2003, at Wilkes Regional Medical Center in North Wilkesboro. Mrs. Woodmancy was born in Surry County on July 21, 1911, to the late Ivory and Maude Jenkins Cockerham.
She was formerly of Jonesville.
Juanita was married to Elton W. Al Woodmancy, who preceded her in death on June 13, 1989. She is survived by friends and cousins.
A graveside service will be held Monday, 11 a.m., Nov. 24, 2003, by the Rev. Cindy Arnold, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.

Debra Kay Pardue
Mrs. Debra Kay Pardue, age 45, of Pleasant Ridge Road, State Road, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Pardue was born April 9, 1958, in Surry County, to Sam and Eula Matilda Adams Blackburn.
Mrs. Pardue was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and was retired from Weyerhaeuser. She was also a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Durham.
Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Pardue of the home; two sons, Barry Pardue and his wife Angel and Gary Pardue, all of State Road; two brothers, Aaron Dean Blackburn of Elkin and Floyd Douglas "Doug" Blackburn of Jonesville; a sister, Debbie Nichols of Traphill; four grandchildren, Samantha Kay Pardue, Miranda Jessica Burch, Johnny "Bubba" Burch and Dakota Nichols; four special friends, Allison Layell of Thurmond, Karen Myers of North Wilkesboro, Claude Martin of State Road and Doris Cleary of Elkin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church by Rev. Dan Merritt and Rev. Homer Greene. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family received friends Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

Helen Davis Feimster Smitherman
Mrs. Helen Davis Feimster Smitherman, age 80, of North Bridge Street, Jonesville, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Mrs. Smitherman was born December 1, 1923, in Forsyth County to William Henry and Ada Ardella Chandler Davis.
Mrs. Smitherman was a homemaker and was a member of Jonesville First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Horace W. Feimster Jr., and by her second husband, Robert L. Smitherman.
Survivors include three daughters, Bobbie Reinhardt and her husband Donald of Jonesville, Trudy Griffin and her husband David of Charlotte, Judy Smitherman of Florida; four brothers, Bobby Davis and his wife Toyce of Old Town, Tommy Davis and his wife Norma of California, Jimmy Davis and his wife Dani of Weatherford, Texas, Clyde Davis of Carolina Beach; two sisters, Mary Fry of Lexington, Lana Kite and her husband Melvin of Lexington; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Sparks, Joan Dawson, Opal Mabe; brother-in-law, Wes Smitherman and his wife Lynette; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; special friends, Ethyl Spencer, Ruby Swaim, Mozelle Wooten, Gail Shores, Judy Williams, Brooke and Sara Johnson.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Roger Hensley and Rev. Ray Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Jonesville First Baptist Church or to the donor’s choice.

John Junior Casey
Mr. John Junior Casey, age 78, of Austin-Traphill Road, Elkin, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Casey was born August 21, 1925, in Wilkes County to John Young and Zillie Tucker Casey.
Mr. Casey was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church and a member of Benham Ruritan Club. Junior was retired from the North Carolina Department of Correction. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during World War II and the Korean War. He also served in the North Carolina Army National Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Otten Spicer; two brothers, Russell Casey, Bill Tucker; four sisters, Ruby Darnell, Hazel Casey, Polly Vestal, Irene Casey.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Emmie Upchurch Casey of the home; one daughter, Brenda Holbrook and her husband James of Elkin; a foster daughter, Brenda Morris of Winston-Salem; a brother, Monroe Casey of Elkin; two sisters, Marie Swaim of Jonesville, Lorene Hinson of Ronda; two grandchildren, Jason Holbrook, Jamie Holbrook; two stepgrandchildren, Brian Spicer, Cheryl Buitrago of California; three great-grandchildren, Emily Holbrook, Maggie Holbrook, Hannah Holbrook; a foster great-granddaughter, Kasey McHone of Mount Airy; four stepgreat grandchildren, Nicholas Buitrago, Vincent Buitrago, Andrew Velez, Anthony Velez, all of California.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Cool Springs Baptist Church by Rev. Russ Nixon and Rev. Ivan Dameron. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.

Roxie Jane Spicer Cox Haynes
Roxie Jane Spicer Cox Haynes, age 98, of 358 Union Hill Church Road, Thurmond, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at her residence. Roxie was born in Wilkes County on October 30, 1905, to Jim and Carrie Waddell Spicer. Roxie was married to Dollie Cox on September 18, 1924, who passed away October 10, 1935. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 14 siblings, a daughter Tessie Spicer, who passed away October 31, 1982, and her late husband Dan Haynes, May 15, 1984.
Roxie is survived by a daughter, Irene Norman of the home; a son, Richard Cox of Thurmond; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Roxie also leaves behind many friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 12, 2004, at Johnson Funeral Home by Rev. Olin Barker and Rev. Brian Cardwell. Interment followed at Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends Thursday evening from 7-9 at Johnson Funeral Home.

James Earnest Dobbins
James (Jim) Earnest Dobbins, 84, of 1274 Twin Oaks Road, Elkin, departed this earthly world on Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.
Jim was born May 2, 1919, in Surry County to Cleveland and Sallie Dodson Dobbins. He served in the United States Army in World War II, 12th Armored Division, 493rd Armored Field Artillery Battalion.
Jim was employed by Chatham Manufacturing Company for 38 years (Print Shop).
He was a member and deacon of Union Cross Baptist Church, a member of the Union Cross Ruritan Club and a member of the Surry Telephone Membership Board of Directors.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Ruth Brown Dobbins of the home; a daughter, Susan Dobbins Dockery and son-in-law Todd Dockery; a very beloved granddaughter, Kennedy Dockery of Twin Oaks Road, Elkin; a very special and loved daughter-in-law, Sandra Huffman Dobbins Snow, Zephyr Road, Elkin; a sister, Mabel Dobbins Southard of State Road; and a sister-in-law, Betty Yarborough Dobbins of Elkin; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Dobbins was preceded in death by his son, James (Jimmy) Earnest Dobbins II (October 17, 1995); three brothers, Shepherd Dobbins (1985), Rev. Glenn Dobbins (1993), Grover Dobbins (1994); and one sister, Mary Dobbins CarterMill Road, Elkin, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Britthaven Nursing Facility of Wilkesboro. Mrs. CarterNovember 3, 2003; two brothers, Everett Darnell, Edward "Baker" Darnell; a sister, Ina Darnell; stepmother, Cora Darnell.
Surviving are two daughters, Jerry Carterof Elkin; four grandchildren, Dwayne (Karen) Stone, Bethany Carter, Ashley Carterfamily received friends Thursday, evening at Central Full Gospel Church from 7-9.
