Thelma Grace Snow Hobson
Thelma Grace Snow Hobson, 95, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at the Hugh Chatham Nursing Center in Elkin. Born in Surry County on March 22, 1909, to the late Connie Baston Snow and Sara Pearl Hemmings Snow.
Mrs. Hobson graduated from High Point Memorial School of Nursing in 1932 and proudly worked as a registered nurse for more than fifty years. She also was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded indeath by her husband of 64 years, Frank W. Hobson, Sr. and two brothers, Garland Snow and Glenn Snow.
Surviving are her children, Anne Hobson Eastmand of Morehead City and Frank W. Hobson and wife, Lenna, of Boonville; five grandchilren and two step-grandchildren, George A. Eastman III and wife Lynee, Susan Snow Eastmand Creamer and husband, David, Frank Hobson Eastman and wife, Kristia, all of Morehead City, Annie Eastman of Tulsa, Okla., Frank W. Hobson III of Boonville, Brad Edwards and wife, Donna, and Robin Edwards Turner and husband, Ron, both of Elkin; five great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy S. Terrell and Annie Pearl Martin, both of Dobson. Also surviving are several sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews and special caregivers, Gia Day, Thelma Martin, Mary Harris, Angel Shores and Becky Colbert.
Funeral service for Mrs. Hobson will be held Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at 2 p.m. in the Union Grove Baptist Church with Dr. James Murphy and Rev. Will Hamrick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Robert James Pippin
Mr. Robert James Pippin Sr., 471 Bluemont Road, Mount Airy, husband of Mrs. Helen Edwards Pippin, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at Forsyth Regional Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Pippin was born June 11, 1939, in Orange County to the late James Marshall and Rachel Porter Pippin. He was retired from Davis Elliott Electrical Contractors and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Helen E. Pippin, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce P. and Grant Caudle, Pilot Mountain; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeff Pippin of the home, Jimmy and Tammy Pippin, Glen Allen, Va., and Robert James Pippin Jr. of Elkin; five grandchildren, Emily Pippin and Carly Pippin of Elkin, Michelle Pippin and Jared Pippin, both of Glen Allen, Va., David Caudle and wife, Abby, Pilot Mountain; a sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and James Stewart of Raleigh; and three special friends, Ben Pelfrey, Joe Easter and Danny Eargler all of Mount Airy.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy conducted by Rev. Gary Byrd with Burial to follow in the Old Hollow Cemetery. The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday night at Moody Funeral Home where his body will remain until the hour of the service.
Ervin William Lineberry
Mr. Ervin William Lineberry, 75, of Phillips Road, East Bend, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at his residence. He was born in Yadkin County on April 16, 1929, to the late Gurney Lineberry and Lora Matthews Lineberry. Mr. Lineberry was a retired Trucking Dispatcher and of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Lorene Smitherman Lineberry of the home; one son, Ervin “Curley” Lineberry Jr. and wife, Joy, of Yadkinville; two daughters, Shirley Hill of Mount. Airy and Shelby Wiedenhoft and husband, Bill, of Yadkinville; two brothers, Jackie Lineberry of Arkansas and Richard Lineberry of Boonville; two sisters, Vera Davis of East Bend and Emma Jean Anderson of Kernersville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service for Mr. Lineberry will be held Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at 2 p.m. in the Huff Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Stratus officiating. Burial will follow in the Baltimore Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening Feb. 2, 2005, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Georgina May Pruitt
Georgina May Pruitt, 83, of Moncus Road, Jonesville passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Pruitt was born May 17, 1923, in Raleigh County, W.Va., to Rufus Gordon and Mary Angelina Wood Pruitt.
Mrs. Pruitt was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of Jonesville United Methodist Church. Mrs. Pruitt was also a member of the Barbara Heck United Methodist Women's Club and the Fellowship Club at Chatham. She also volunteered at the Wilkes Deafness Center. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glenn Pruitt.
Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, David Pruitt and wife Gilda of Jonesville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Pruitt Golden and husband Keith, Effie Pruitt Chipman and husband Craig, all of Elkin, Nancy Pruitt Prevette and husband Charles of Jonesville; three grandchildren, Sunnie Prevette, Derek Prevette, Carrie Prevette; two step-grandchildren, Roger Allen Cook and wife Melanie, Kim Myers and husband Jason; four step great grandchildren, Brianna Myers, Lydia Cook, James Cook, Weston Cook; two brothers, Donald Pruitt of Port Townsend, Wash., Jackie Pruitt of Vineland, N.J.; four sisters, Peggy Cox and husband John and Reva Smith all of W. Va., Gay Lalli and June Clark, all of Vineland, N.J.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Jonesville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jim Sanders, the Rev. Bob Swaim, and the Rev. Joe Fulp. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. Mrs. Pruitt will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Monday from 7-9 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.

Peggy Eugenia Harris
Peggy Eugenia Harris, 74, of Woodland Drive, Elkin passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at Yadkin Nursing Center. Mrs. Harris was born November 2, 1931, in Surry County to Roy Lee and Vertie Fay Pardue Sparks.
Mrs. Harris retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include: her husband, Hubert Harris of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Donny Harris and wife Wanda of Elkin; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda Walsh and husband David of Jonesville; two grandchildren, Donna Harris and Nathan Harris; great-granddaughter, Makenzie Harris; a sister, Linda Fay Milan of Elkin; nephew, Jeff Whitaker and wife Cheryl of Elkin.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tommy Collins. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.

Roy Eugene Gentry
Mr. Roy Eugene "Gene" Gentry, 56, of State Road, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006. He was born in Surry County on Nov. 24, 1949, to Myrtle Branson Gentry and the late Early Allen Gentry. Mr. Gentry was a self-employed construction worker specializing in building log homes.
Survivors include his mother of Taylorsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Rhonda Gentry of Hillsville, Va.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Venessa and Billy Talley and Kalien Gentry, all of State Road; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a brother and sister-in-law Olan and Pat Gentry of Mount Airy.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Crestwood Memory Garden with the Rev. Claude Lloyd officiating and Burial following. The family received friends Saturday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Moody-Davis Funeral Home of Dobson. Linda Lou Vanhoy Poplin
Mrs. Linda Lou Vanhoy Poplin, 61 of 3829 Cool Pine Road, Jonesville, passed away Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Linda was born in Yadkin County on Nov. 4, 1944, to the late John Vanhoy and Gertha Samantha Nichols Vanhoy. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by a sister, Judy Ann Vanhoy, and a brother, Howard Vanhoy. She is survived by her husband, Virgil Poplin of the home; two children, Jonathan Lee "Sandy" Poplin and wife Gail of Jonesville She is survived by her husband, Virgil Poplin of the home; two children, Jonathan Lee "Sandy" Poplin and wife Gail of Jonesville, Samantha Lynn Sizemore and husband Danny of Yadkinville; three brothers, Charlie Frank Vanhoy and wife Ann, Ray Vanhoy and wife, Becky, all of Jonesville, Glenn Vanhoy of State Road; five sisters; Liz Reynolds and husband Leonard, Kay Vanhoy, and Dorothy Buelin, all of Jonesville, Gladys Henderson of Kernersville, Lorene Simmons of Statesville; four grandchildren, Sarah Poplin, Devin Poplin, Denver Sizemore, Brandon Sizemore, and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Monday, 11 a.m. Oct. 9, 2006, at Sunrise Cemetery in Jonesville by the Rev. Mark Elmore and the Rev. Cecil Wetherholt. The Poplin Family received friends Sunday evening, Oct. 8, 2006, from 7-9 at Johnson Funeral Home. Johnson Funeral Home is serving the Poplin Family.
