Grace Stephenson Sandy

Raleigh - Grace Stephenson Sandy, 96, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 8, 2015 after a short illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10 at 2:30 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Grace was the daughter of the late N. R. and Alverta Stephenson of Raleigh, NC.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James (Bill) Sandy; daughter, Jean S. Wilson; brothers, Oliver Stephenson and Nat Stephenson; four sisters, Beulah Broughton, Gertrude Walters, Ellen Tunstall and Ruth McCormick.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Bowling of Raleigh; three grandchildren, James Cary Bowling and wife, Vicky of Raleigh, Warren Wilson and wife, Linda of Charlotte, Grace (Sissy) Heustess and husband, Jimmy of Greenville, NC; seven great-grandchildren, Dan Bowling, Brad Bowling, Brooke Bowling, Emily Wilson, Katie Wilson, Ashley Heustess, and Taylor Heustess; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Mary C. Sandy, a very dear friend of 75 years.
Known as "Amazing Grace", she was very active in her church, a nursery worker, vacation bible school, Grace Sandy Mission Group, choir member, a Ruritanette member. She loved cooking, baking, and traveling on tour groups. Grace retired from A.E. Finley in 1988.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 10 from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m., prior to the funeral service at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and other times at the home of Carolyn Bowling, 7630 Ten Ten Road, Raleigh, NC.

Robert Charles Adcock

Fuquay-Varina - Robert Charles Adcock, 89, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Wake Chapel Memorial Gardens, 905 Wake Chapel Road, Fuquay-Varina.
Robert (Bob) Charles Adcock was born June 15, 1926 in Fuquay Springs, NC.
He was the son of the late George William Adcock and Nola Edwards and the grandson of the late John William and Sophia Knott, who were early settlers of Fuquay Springs. He was also pre-deceased by brothers, Dwight Martin and Dr. G.W. Adcock and his wife, Margaret; sister, Minnilee; step-mother, Estelle S. Adcock; and niece, April Adcock Tapanes.
Bob attended Fuquay Springs schools. After graduating high school he attended Kings Business College then went to work with a Raleigh bank for five years. He then worked as a representative for a ladies apparel company for the next fifteen years. Before retiring he worked as a national rep for a manufacturing company of indoor-outdoor furniture traveling extensively in the US. Upon retiring he returned to Fuquay-Varina and opened a florist and gift shop. Bob was recognized throughout the community as a wonderful, generous, and kind soul. He enjoyed life, and loved gardening, growing the most beautiful hibiscus and violets. Many came to him for his famous pound cake recipe. Bob looked forward to everyday, and whatever adventure it would bring with an open mind and open heart.
Bob served in the US Air Corp during World War 11(1943 - 1946).
He is survived by brother, Stewart Adcock(Kay); nieces, Susan A. Smith (Sammy), Annette A. Shalles (Sieg), Kathy A. Dean (Thomas), Beth B. Flokstra (Fritz), Lorena Hill; nephews, Jay Adcock (Tammy), Lou Tapanes (Cheryl); great nephews, Taylor Smith (fiancé Kara), Jesse Dean, James Adcock III (Jennifer), Matthew Hill, Luke Tapanes, and Eddie Ianetto; great nieces, Jennifer McAllister, Jacquelyn Adcock, Ashley Dean Eatmon (Eddie), Katherine Jones (Jay), Alexis Hill, Ashtine Tapanes, Rena Tapanes; great-great nieces, Kori Eatmon and Scarlette Jones.
God also sent a very special "Ray of Sunshine" Korey Wilson into his life, who he loved dearly.

Gerald Joseph McLaughlin, 61, of Leadmine Road, Raleigh, died Thursday, May 15, 2003 at Rex Hospital due an extended illness. Mr. McLaughlin was a native of Arlington, Mass. A memorial mass will be held May 22 at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church. Mr. McLaughlin is survived by his wife, Patricia Ridge McLaughlin: a son, Michael McLaughlin and wife, Shauna of Apex; daughters, Kathleen McLaughlin of Woburn, Mass, and Maureen Gunter of Danielson, Conn.; grandchildren Cameron, Connor, Danielle and Ryan. Dewey Lafay Chappell
Dewey Lafay Chappell, 74, of 285 Stancil Road, died suddenly Monday, March 14, 2005 at Wake Medical Center. He was born November 9, 1930.
He was a retired area manager for Ready Mixed Concrete Company. A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late Garland B. and Adell Keith Chappell. His wife of 54 years, Doris Stancil Chappell on February 21, 2005 and a sister, Evelyn Roberson, also preceded him in death.
Funeral Services were Wednesday, March 16, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Angier. Burial, Stancil Family Cemetery, Angier.
His children, Douglas Chappell and wife, Gwen of Angier, Denise Stephenson and husband, Ronnie of Willow Springs, and Danny Chappell and wife, Trudy of Willow Springs, grandchildren, Bradley Chappell, Shelley Clark, Justin Chappell, Stephanie Matthews, Katy Stephenson and Carlie Chappell, survive Dewey in death.

Bethina Carter Edwards
Bethina Carter Edwards, 91, formerly of Raleigh, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at the Masonic and Eastern Star Home in Greensboro.
Bethina was born in Wake County on January 4, 1914 to the late Ed C. Carter and Charlottie Young Carter.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel. Burial was in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Highway 70 West.
Surviving are a son, Gerald Stewart Edwards of Raleigh; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Thomas Carter of Garner, Elbert Carter of Carthage, Kermit Carter of Raleigh and Edward Carter of Cochran, Ga.
In addition to her parents, Bethina was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Alfred Edwards; a son, John Alfred Edwards; a brother, Fred Carter; and a sister, Lucy Timberlake.
Family received relatives and friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 25, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale.
