Arnold James Laplante
Arnold James LaPlante, 78, of 8312 Muirfield Drive died Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at home. He was born October 21, 1925 in Beekmantown, New York to the late William and Nettie Taylor LaPlante.
He served in the Army in WW II and retired from Matteawan State Correctional Facility in Beacon, New York.
He is survived by his wife, Louise E. LaPlante of Willow Spring, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne M. and Joseph W. Gavis and grandson Hunter R. Gavis of Fuquay-Varina, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Mark S. and Kathy LaPlante of Kingston, New York; brothers, Claude LaPlant and wife Marge of Largo, Florida and Ken LaPlante and wife Ellen of Morrisonville, New York; and very good friend, Anne E. Thomson of Toccoa, Georgia. In addition to his parents, Arnold was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Quinn of Malone, New York.
A private family service will be held.

Braxton Griffin
Braxton Griffin, 67, of 5009 Martha Neil Drive, died Monday. The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Burial was in Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh. Braxton Griffin was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann Griffin; father, Jimmie Braxton Griffin; mother, Mary Holland Griffin; and sisters, Amelia G. Tart and Rozella G. Smith. He is survived by his wife, Betty Hackney Griffin; daughter, Denise Griffin McMains and husband Mark; son, David Braxton Griffin and wife Erin; grandchildren, Elizabeth Carol Maroom, Steven Braxton McMains, Brian Griffin McMains and Tyler Joseph Griffin; and sister, Marilyn G. Strickland and husband Kenneth of Clayton. The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sugg Funeral Home in Fuquay-Varina and other times at the family home at 5009 Martha Neil Drive. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of WakeMed Rehab, Western Wake Rehab, Rex Hospital, Dr. David F. Boerner, family physician, and Dr. Richard Chiulli, surgeon. Richard Robert Blankenhorn
The Rev. Richard Robert Blankenhorn, age 79, of Fuquay-Varina, died early on Thursday morning, Oct. 9, 2003, following a courageous battle with lymphoma. He was born in Baraboo, Wis., the son of Richard and Anna Thomann Blankenhorn. The Rev. Blankenhorn was raised in southern Wisconsin, graduated from Gratiot High School, and volunteered for service in the United States Marine Corps. He served as a tail gunner in a Marine Corps aircrew during World War II and as a flight engineer during the Korean Conflict. Those assignments brought him to North Carolina. Having received a strong calling into God’s ministry, he attended Louisburg College, Atlantic Christian College and Duke Divinity School. His long list of appointments included the United Methodist Churches in Harlowe, Oak Grove, Dover, Tuscarora, Lane’s Chapel, Asbury, Goldsboro, Raleigh, Roseboro, Edenton, Durham, Pine Forest, and Fuquay-Varina. He was preceded in death by his dear and cherished wife May. His deceased siblings include four brothers, Otto, Victor, John and Werner Blankenhorn, and one sister, Bertha Brog. His surviving sisters are Sylvia Blankenhorn and Helen Isherwood, both of Stockton, Ill. His children and their families are Jean Godbold and husband Les, Jack Blankenhorn and wife Chris, Bruce Blankenhorn and wife Dona, Darrell Blankenhorn, and Sheila Barelift and husband Chuck. Also, he had nine grandchildren, William Allen, Seth Rudd, Kristia Blankenhorn, Karl Blankenhorn, Richard Blankenhorn, Wendy Blankenhorn, Dawn Baker, Dare Blankenhorn, and Ashleigh Barelift, and their families, which includes four great-grandchildren. The Rev. Blankenhorn loved his many friends and parishioners; he and May had kept close contact with so many of them who remained dear to their hearts. He loved his service to his communities; he loved preaching the gospel; he loved leading singing and revivals, having done so for countless churches throughout North Carolina. He was known as a church-builder, often involved in constructing new sanctuaries and facilities. He initiated several Senior Citizens’ groups; he served on The Council on Aging for the State of North Carolina; he served for many years as a Trustee of Louisburg College, and on various boards on the North Carolina United Methodist Conference. On three separate occasions, he was recalled from retirement to serve additional churches; and on each occasion, he felt compelled to follow his commitment to serve whenever and wherever called. Arrangements are by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home of Cary. Visitation was held at First United Methodist Church, at 402 North Main Street, in Fuquay-Varina, on Friday evening from 6:30 until 9 p.m. The funeral was held at the same church on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 1 p.m. A brief graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery on Oakwood Avenue in Raleigh. If desired, donations in his memory may be made to the Blankenhorn Scholarship Fund at Louisburg College, 501 N. Main St., Louisburg, N.C. 27549.

Fuquay-Varina – Jack Tony Ellis, Sr., 77, died on Tuesday, October 27, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, 401 N Ennis Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Jack was born on August 22, 1938 in Harnett County. He served and retired from the USAF as Master Sergeant, and also retired from the US Postal Service. He was also a member and past Master of the Holly Springs Masonic Lodge #115. He was a loving father, and "Papa" who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry B. and Anner Catherine Arnold Ellis; and wife, Barbara Ann Ellis.
Jack is survived by his sons, Jack T. Ellis Jr. and companion, Diana Knighting of SC, Kenneth Ellis and wife, Cathy of Fuquay-Varina; daughter, Sharron Dickens and husband, Kenneth of Raleigh; three granddaughters, Heather Brown, Brandi Blanchard, and Elizabeth Dickens; and great-grandchildren, Victoria and Will Brown and Wayne Blanchard; sister-in-law, Linda R. McCullock of Fuquay-Varina.

Frank Herndon Tobey
The Rev. Frank Herndon Tobey of Raleigh died on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at UNC Memorial Hospital at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Nelia Adams Tobey; two sons, Robert F. Tobey of Fuquay-Varina and Steven D. Tobey of Garner; one daughter, Susan Tobey Boyd of Wallace; two stepdaughters, Erica Murkofsky Rhodes of Katonah, N.Y., and Dr. Rachel Murkofsky of Boston, Mass.; and three grandchildren, Joshua Tobey of Fuquay-Varina and Christopher and Megan Boyd of Wallace. The Rev. Tobey graduated from Arkansas College and Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Va. As an ordained Presbyterian minister, he had pastorates in Stuart, Va., Gladewater and Gatesville, Texas, Forest City, Ark., St. Genevieve, Miss., and at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Willow Spring from 1974 to 1980. He later served as a supply pastor at Kenly Presbyterian Church in Kenley. In addition to his pastorates, he was a devoted member of the community, serving as a Wake County Library Commissioner in 1997. Frank was extremely devoted to his family and friends and his ministry extended into all walks of life where he touched countless people with his kindness, sincerity and good works. He was indeed a devoted disciple and will be forever missed by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Visitation was at Sugg Funeral Home in Fuquay-Varina on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. and the funeral was held on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 3 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Willow Spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Willow Spring. Arrangements were by Sugg Funeral Home in Fuquay-Varina.
Robert Vernon Keith
Bobby Keith passed away at age 53 peacefully in his home on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003. He leaves behind his loving wife Carol of 21 years, devoted daughter Jennifer, mother Barbara, and late father Vernon Keith. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, wonderful friends and neighbors. Bobby was born in Raleigh. He was best known for his sense of humor, kindness and gentleness. He had a love for beach music, Myrtle Beach and life. He was employed by John Deere Turf Care in Fuquay-Varina as a design coordinator and worked on an engineering team. He loved his company and coworker. He held a business degree and also worked many years for IBM. In June of 2002, he was diagnosed with Glioblastoma. He bravely fought this deadly brain tumor for 16 months with a determined attitude. He had surgery at Duke Hospital and had 34 radiation treatments and 10 cycles of chemo. The family received friends on Sunday, Oct. 19, at Thomas Funeral Home, 401 N. Ennis St. in Fuquay-Varina from 3 to 50 p.m. A celebration of his life was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20 at the Sunrise United Methodist Church, 5420 Sunset Lake Road in Holly Springs lead by the Rev. Ross Carter. Afterwards, just for family, there was a burial service at Raleigh Memorial Park where he was buried near his stepson Gary James Klajda. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the local American Cancer Society at 11 South Boylan Ave., Raleigh, N.C. 27603, or Sunrise United Methodist Church, 5420 Sunset Lake Road, Holly Springs, N.C. 27540.
Margaret Perrin Bailey

Apex, NC - Margaret Perrin Bailey, 91, passed away on March 4, 2015 in Raleigh, NC. Margaret was born in Delaware County, PA on January 26, 1924.
She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband, Richard Garland Bailey, Jr. of 49 years.
Mrs. Bailey lived the majority of her life in Chesterfield, VA where she and her husband raised their two sons. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Garland Bailey, III and wife, Elsie and John Milton Bailey; granddaughters, Elizabeth Brooke Boyle and her husband, James Michael and Morgan Bailey Harler and husband, Cameron Lee; grandson, Richard Garland Bailey, IV and wife, Natalie Napier; great-grandchildren, Bailey James Boyle, Tatym Elaine Boyle, Makennah Lynn Harler, Griffin James Bailey, Madison Brooke Bailey and Kamryn Elizabeth Bailey; and daughter-in-law, Linda Jenson Bailey.
A small private memorial service will be held at her final resting place at Dale Memorial Park.
