Violet F. McCartney
Violet F. McCartney, 73, of 8365 N.C. 55, Willow Springs, died Saturday at home. She was the widow of the late Archie F. McCartney. The funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday at Kennebee Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Faye Gomez of Spivey’s Corner; a sister, Betty Lou Fam of Virginia Beach; a brother, Felix Adams of Clinton; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The family received friends at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home of Angier.
Donald A. Ausley
Mr. Donald A. Ausley, 56, of Fuquay-Varina, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, in Brighton Manor Nursing Home. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Thirley “Billy” and Emma Chappell Ausley. The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Christian Light Christian Church of Fuquay-Varina with the Rev. Jimmy Elliott officiating. Burial took place in the church cemetery. Mr. Ausley is survived by three brothers, Joe Ausley and Ronald Ausley, both of Fuquay-Varina, and Wayne Ausley of Raleigh; and a sister, Doris Faye Coats of Fuquay-Varina. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home and other time at his home. Memorials may be made to Christian Light Christian Church, 4819 Christian Light Road, Fuquay-Varina.
Marion G. Sarella
Marion G. Sarella, 80, of 1633 Shethards Glade in Apex, died at her home Monday, Sept. 8, 2003. Mrs. Sarella was a native of Asheville and retired from the accounting department of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Sarella was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Edward Sarella, in 1972. Mrs. Sarella was a member of the Apex Keen Agers Club and active in the Community Activities Bridge Club and Book Club. A graveside service was held Thursday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. in the Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Sale. The family received friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at the Apex Funeral Home, 511 W. Williams St., Hwy. 55. She is survived by two daughters, Lynne Sarella of Raleigh and Emily Sarella of Apex; and one grandson, Tyler Bruce of Apex. Memorial may be given to the Susan G. Bobby Ray Mauldin
Bobby Ray Mauldin, 59, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003. Burial was held in Angier Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Bobby Mauldin was a lifelong tobacconist. Mr. Mauldin is survived by a brother, James Mauldin of Fuquay-Varina; nephews, Wayne Mauldin and wife Diane, and Tony Mauldin and wife Lenehe, both of Fuquay-Varina; niece, Tina Mauldin of Fuquay-Varina; and great-niece Mallory Mauldin and great-nephew James Anthony Mauldin, both of Fuquay-Varina. Mr. Mauldin was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Virginia Mauldin. The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sugg Funeral Home. Arrangements were held by Sugg Funeral Home.
Ira Kent Raynor
Ira Kent Raynor, 63, of 103 S. Pleasant St., owner and operator of Angier Paint and Wallpaper, Inc., died Wednesday at Duke Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. A native of Harnett County, he served in the U.S. Army and was a past master of Angier Masonic Lodge No. 686 and past worthy patron of the Angier Chapter No. 351 Order of the Eastern Star. The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Neill’s Creek Baptist Church. Burial was held at Lakeside Memorial Gardens with Eastern Star and Masonic Rites. Mr. Raynor is survived by his wife, Wandra Adams Raynor; sons, Richard Kent Raynor and his wife Terry of Raleigh and Ira Adam Raynor and wife Julle of Willow Spring; a daughter, Dona Jean Raynor of Venice, Calif.; his mother, Alice Dupree Raynor of Angier; three grandsons, Trovor Tanner and Jared Raynor; two granddaughters, Madison and Alex Raynor; sisters, Julia R. Thomas and her husband Woodrow of New Bern and Martha R. Gule of Angier. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley June Raynor, and his father, James Broughton Raynor. The family received friend from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Angier. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to friends, neighbors and employees for their generous love, support and their many kindnesses during Mr. Raynor’s illness. Your many exceptional thoughts, prayers and kindnesses helped sustain them throughout his illness. They are also deeply grateful for the wonderful staff at Duke University Medical Clinic and the 9100 oncology staff for caring for Mr. Raynor with such love and compassion through the most difficult times. Morton Carey Teitelbaum
Mr. Morton Carey Teitelbaum of Frisco, located on Hatteras Island, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003. Mr. Teitelbaum spent his early years in New Jersey and moved to Durham while in his teens. Upon graduation from high school, he attended Michigan Sate University, where he received his undergraduate degree in education. He later attended the University of Virginia, and in 1969 was awarded a Masters of Education Degree for Duke University. Before coming to Sanderson High School in Raleigh in 1973, he taught in Connecticut and Florida. At Sanderson, he taught American History and Law & Justice, a program which he pioneered. Law & Justice was a very popular and useful course for high school students. Mr. Teitelbaum continued his relationship with students from that program who entered fields related to law. In 1996, he retired form teaching and moved to Hatteras Island, an area he dearly loved. Mr. Teitelbaum was the son of the late David and Rose Greenspan Teitelbaum of Durham. There was a gathering of friends at Twiford Chapel on Hatteras Island on Tuesday, Aug. 26, and Wednesday, Aug. 27 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held at a later time. Arrangements were handled by Twiford Funeral Home in Hatteras Island.
