Four Oaks - Patricia Ann Hyatt Slocum, age 59, died Friday, October 2, 2015.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Fuquay-Varina, NC.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Gary Lee Slocum Sr.; son, Jonathon Daniel Mitchell and wife, Paula of Fuquay-Varina; daughter, Stephanie McDaniel Allen and husband, Robby of Four Oaks; stepsons, Gary Lee Slocum Jr. of Angier and Adam Steven Slocum of Cary; father, JT Hyatt of Fuquay-Varina; brother Ronnie Hyatt and wife Penny of Fuquay-Varina; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Luther B. McLamb
Mr. Luther B. McLamb, age 63, of Benson died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at Liberty Commons Nursing Home.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Parker Family Cemetery in Four Oaks.
Officiating the service was the Rev. Wade N. Daughtry. Mr. McLamb was born March 30, 1940, in Johnston County to the late Arthur D. and Vonnie Odell Parker McLamb.
Mr. McLamb was a retired self-employed carpet and floor covering contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Betty McLamb of Louisburg; his children, Pam Tant of Franklinton, Joseph Stacy McLamb of Kansas, Brian Allen of Four Oaks, and Carol Herman of Hurdle Mills; sisters, Sally Louise Mitchell of Hampton, Va., Nancy Mabel McLamb of Garner, Zylphia F. Lamb of Florida, and Patricia Capps of Four Oaks; brothers, James “Tom” C. McLamb of Hampton, Va., William McLamb of Morrisville, and Billy Lee McLamb of Richmond, Va.; and seven grandchildren.
The family received friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and at other times at the home of Bobby Ray and Patricia Capps, 573 Hayes Rd., Four Oaks, N.C.
Bethel Stephens Marcom
Bethel Stephens Marcom, age 88, of 201 Westhigh St., Cary, died Aug. 18, 2003.
She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and a retired employee of Lufkin Co. in Apex.
The funeral was held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21 at Salem Baptist Church. Pastor Dr. Jeff Beckett officiated the service. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Survivors are his daughter, Hazel S. Markham and husband Braswell H. of Apex; one son, Durwood Stephens and wife, Ann of Elkin, N.C.; four grandchildren, Marcia Powell and husband, Billy, Wendy Loyd, Keith Stephens and wife, Talley, and David Stephens; five great-grandchildren, Justin Lawrence, Heather Lawrence, Jordan Hoyle, Parker Stephens and Zane Stephens.
The family received friends at the Apex Funeral Home and other times at the home of Hazel and Braswell Markham, 1007 James St., Apex.

Jean Elizabeth Chandler

Jean Elizabeth (McLean) Chandler, 87, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 17, 2015.
She was born March 27, 1928, in Malden, Massachusetts, to the late Harold Alexander and Gertrude Elizabeth (MacArthur) McLean. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Hammond Chandler and her sister, Marion McLean Christie.
Jean grew up in Everett, Massachusetts, and graduated from Everett High School. Upon graduation, she worked for H.P. Hood in Charlestown for 10 years until she married in 1955.
She and Ed lived in Delaware, Vermont, Maine and New York, and then retired to North Carolina in 1987.
Jean made close relationships everywhere she went, but her first devotion was always to her God and to her family.
Ed was the love of her life, and she was passionately committed to being a loving mother and grandmother.
She was a faithful member of Wake Chapel Christian Church where she was very involved with her Sunday school class.
She is survived by her son, Paul Edwin Chandler and his wife, Joy of Punta Gorda, Florida; a daughter, Nancy Chandler Snyder and husband, Terry of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Rebekah Chandler, Jacob Chandler, Kyle Snyder, Rachel Snyder Stephens, Lydia Snyder Hodges, Adam Palmer, Timothy Palmer; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Wake Chapel Christian Church, 905 Wake Chapel Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC, with Rev. Ross Marion officiating.
Visitation will occur one hour before the service and the burial will follow service at Wake Chapel Memorial Gardens.
The family would love to express their appreciation for the love and care shown to their mother by Dr. Bae-Jump's office and the staff at UNC Womens Hospital.

L. Edwin Messer

Raleigh - L. Edwin Messer, age 87, died Sunday, September 6, 2015.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, 401 N Ennis Street, Fuquay-Varina.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Middle Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Otha Messer and Lee Messer; and sister, Thelma Stephenson.
Edwin was a loving brother and uncle. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his nephew, Jimmy Stephenson; and niece, Jewel Weatherspoon and husband, Robert.
James W. Wheeler
James W. “Jimmy” Wheeler, 41, of Fuquay-Varina, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by his mother, Janet Brown Wheeler; a sister, Pam Wolfe and husband, Tony of Fort Mill, S.C.; two nieces, Olivia and Caroline Wolfe; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mr. Wheeler was preceded in death by his father, William E. Wheeler.
