Alline Howell Owen
Alline Howell Owen, a 65 year native of Broad Street in Angier, in front of the water tank, died December 28, 2012 at the age of 96. She was the widow of Fred Madison Owen who died in 1979. She and Fred loved calling Angier home with their wonderful friends. They were members of Angier Baptist Church. Alline graduated from Lafayette High School and Red Purcell School of Cosmetology. She was awarded Yard of the Month twice by the Ambassador Homemakers Extension Club of Angier. Alline always displayed, and was a good example of, sensible frugality learned during the Great Depression and WWII, in which Fred served.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan O. Wortham and husband, Larry, of Fuquay-Varina; son, W. Frederick Owen and wife, Diane, of Oxford; grandchildren, Jennifer Wortham Will and husband, Joel, of Apex, William Fredrick Owen, Jr. of Raleigh, and Marshall Owen Wortham of Fuquay-Varina; and one great-grandson, Thomas Emerson Will.
Alline was the seventh of nine children of W.D. and Nottie Howell, born May 3, 1916 and raised in the Baptist Grove Community in Fuquay. The third child of Fred and Alline, Timothy Wayne Owen, died as an infant in 1958.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, December 30 at 3 p.m. at the Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, located at 401 North Ennis St. in Fuquay-Varina. A private burial was held Monday at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Howard S. Molden
Howard Stamps Molden, 72, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 . A memorial service was held December 23 at 3 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, located at 401 North Ennis St. in Fuquay-Varina. Family received friends from 2 to 3 p.m., one hour prior to the service.

Aaron Craig Allgood
Aaron Craig Allgood, 24, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 as a result of a traffic accident. A Memorial service was held on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Fuquay-Varina Church of Christ, 6320 Whitted Road in Fuquay-Varina.
Aaron was born December 9, 1988 in Boone, N.C., to William David Allgood and Paige Hufford Glover.
He graduated from Wake Christian Academy in 2006 and attended Campbell University. He served as a Specialist in the Army Reserve and was employed as a liaison for Couriernet.
Aaron is survived by his parents and step mother Kathy Placke Allgood; brothers, Addison Gray, William Jennings, and Justin David Allgood; grandmothers, Ann Hufford of Raleigh and Betty Allgood of Winston-Salem.
The family received friends Saturday, January 5, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North Ennis St. in Fuquay-Varina.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial gift to be made to Carolina Bible Camp, P. O. Box 1234, Mocksville, NC 27028.

Betty T. Fowler
Betty Taylor Fowler, 80, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, 401 N Ennis St. in Fuquay-Varina. Interment followed at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier.
Mrs. Fowler was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her three daughters, Jerri Ervin and husband, William of Fuquay-Varina, Catherine Thompson and Kim Fowler of Willow Spring; grandchild, Melissa Cerqueira and husband, John of Raleigh; great-grandchild, Hannah Grace; two sister-in-laws, Edith and Eleanor Taylor; four nieces and three nephews.
Family received friends Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home.

James Richard Gates, Jr.
Fuquay-Varina - James Richard “Ricky” Gates, Jr., 52, passed away in a car accident on Friday, December 7, 2012. The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at Thomas Funeral Home, Fuquay-Varina. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church, 301 N. Woodrow Street, Fuquay-Varina. Burial followed at Wake Chapel Memorial Gardens.
Ricky is survived by his wife of thirty years, Christy Brown Gates of Fuquay-Varina; sons, Richard Paige Gates, James Patrick Gates; daughter, Tommie Lawren Gates.
A native of Cary, N.C., Ricky is the son of James Richard Gates, Sr., and the late Cora Nipper Gates, and he was predeceased by his sister, the late Kathy Gates Chase.
Ricky was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend. His love for family and children was present in every aspect of his life. In addition to his children, he loved his nieces and nephews as his own, and he and Christy spent the last three years fostering children in Wake County.
He was the owner of Pet Spa Daze, a successful mobile dog grooming business. His business and friends (both dog and human) meant everything to him. Ricky loved the outdoors, boats, go carts, and anything fun. His kind heart, constant smile, and laugh will forever be cherished.

Louise Evelyn LaPlante
Fuquay-Varina - Louise Evelyn LaPlante, 83, of 8312 Muirfield Drive, Fuquay-Varina, died Dec. 9, 2012 in the comfort of her home.
She was born Jan. 7, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Joseph and Evelyn Sabovik.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arnold of Fuquay-Varina and her brother Robert Sabovik of Lima, Ohio.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne M. and Joseph W. Gavis and special grandson, Hunter of Fuquay-Varina; son and daughter-in-law, Mark S. and Kathy LaPlante of Kingston, New York; granddaughters, Jennifer and Stephanie and her great-grandchildren.
Louise was a warm, caring person who never met a stranger. She could chat with anyone and had a genuine love for people and friendship. Her warm heart and spirit will always be remembered. A private family service will be held. Louise had a love for flowers, so plant a rose bush in her memory or make a donation to your favorite charity. A special thanks to Diane Pulley for her care and friendship over the years.
