O'Dell Betts
Fuquay-Varina – O'Dell Betts passed away peacefully on Thursday, Christmas Day, 2014. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 27 at 1:00 pm at Piney Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
He was born in Duncan, NC, the youngest of 10 children, to Young Allen Betts and Nannie Elizabeth Champion Betts. Following his service in the Army Air Corps during WWII he owned a sawmill and later owned a trucking company and drove his tractor-trailer and dump truck for over 40 years. He loved being on the farm and watching his pine trees grow. While in service he met Lillian Etheleen Cassell, his beloved wife of 65 years. He was a lifelong member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Betts is predeceased by his wife Etheleen and is survived by his three sons, Richard (Dickey) and wife, Debbie of Richmond, VA, Ben and wife, Vicki of Fuquay-Varina and David and wife, Jackie of Lakeland, FL. He loved his grandchildren, Heather Felty and husband, Danny of Richmond, VA, Brandon Betts and wife, Missy of Graham, Chris Betts and wife, Jessica of Fuquay-Varina, Matthew Betts and wife, Ameron of Fuquay-Varina, Melissa Abshire and husband, Kameron of Wake Forest and Taylor Betts of Raleigh. He has six great grandchildren, Sam and Eli Felty, Mason Betts, Trevor Betts and Michaela and Henry Abshire.
Visitation will begin at 11:30 am on Saturday, December 27, at Piney Grove Baptist Church. At other times, the family will be gathering at the Betts home, 1917 W. Academy Street, Fuquay-Varina where friends are invited to stop by and visit.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 3217 Piney Grove-Wilbon Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.

Fuquay-Varina, NC - Edward K. Undercoffer, Sr., 74, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 6:34 a.m. at the Durham, NC V.A. Medical Center.
He was born on November 29, 1940, in Clearfield, Pennsylvania to Lawrence and Gertrude Hugar Undercoffer.He was raised near Niagara Falls, New York.
Ed married the love of his life, Marilyn in 1965.He served in the U.S. Air Force for 8 years.
He enjoyed his jobs over the years that took him and his family from New England to Illinois starting out in the military as an air traffic controller, then serving on the Executive Council of the Boy Scouts of America, then spending the majority of his life in the boating business.He was a great storyteller and enjoyed boating, fishing, spending time with his family and close friends, and the fellowship he found with the Knights of Columbus, which he was an active member of until the time of his death.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John and Kevin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Undercoffer; his four children, Geri-Lynn (Eric)
Montellano of Gurnee, IL, Lori (Brian) Christianson of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Edward “Beau” (Brenda) Undercoffer of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and Judi (Eric) Neff of Fuquay-Varina, NC; 12 grandchildren;1 great-grandchild; and two brothers, Larry and Lee.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Saint Bernadette Catholic Church, 1005 Wilbon Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC, followed by a celebration of life in the fellowship hall generously provided by the Knights of Columbus.

Fuquay-Varina - Michael Lynn Veasey, 62, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014 after a brief battle with cancer while he was in the thoughts of family and friends and holding the hands of Carrie and Wesley and the heart of Wanda.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Wake Chapel Memorial Gardens.
Mike was born on December 27, 1951 and spent his life in his hometown of Fuquay-Varina as an employee of Sprint where he retired following 32 years of service.He played baseball and football for the Fuquay Falcons and went on to play semi-pro baseball for a number of years.Mike loved cooking on the grill for family and friends, fishing, the beach, the Tar Heels and being around his grandchildren.
Mike is survived by his wife, Wanda Veasey; daughter, Carrie Randall and husband, Jonathan; son, Wesley Veasey and wife, Sonya; his beloved grandchildren, Anthony, Austin and Addison Randall and Michael and Carson Veasey; parents, Billie and Peggy Veasey; sister, Penny Boren and husband, Gregg all of Fuquay-Varina.Mike had several loving aunts, uncles, nieces, a nephew and in-laws that were a large part of his life.He had very special friends in Kimry and Ree Gardner; Kevin, Nenna, Mallory and Lucas Mann and his other girls, Lesia Johnson and Laura Martin.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 22 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Thomas Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Carrie and Jonathan Randall in Fuquay-Varina.

Coleman was a faithful wife and homemaker. She was also a loving mother, to her own children and many others. She loved good music, nature, and spending time with her friends and family.
Mary Barbour was preceded in death by her husband Greg Barbour; and Mary Lou Harley.
She is survived by her sons, Alton Barbour and Daniel Barbour, daughter Ginna Barbour, father, Donald L. Harley, brother, Don Harley Jr., sisters, Katherine Harley and Lou Garvey, and 3 grandchildren.

Fuquay-Varina - Erselle Pittard Tingen a resident of Windsor Point in Fuquay-Varina, NC died on Monday, December 8, 2014. Funeral services will be held at Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2014. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Fuquay-Varina.
Erselle was born on November 24, 1918 in Granville County, NC and was a long time resident of Fuquay-Varina.
She was the daughter of the late Arthur Taylor Pittard and Annie Wright Pittard. Erselle was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Clyde Brogden Tingen; and sister, France Pittard Smith.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Tingen Benton (W.L.) of Birmingham, AL and Mary Tingen Rhodes (Leonard) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Kenneth Benton (Lisa) of Alabaster, AL, Scott Ragan (Tammy) of Clayton, NC, Shelia Ragan Pollard (James) of Fuquay-Varina, NC; great-grandchildren, Bradley and Brittany Ragan, Kodie and Harley Whitley all of Clayton, NC, Matthew and Ashley Pollard both of Fuquay-Varina, and Jon Berry of Alabaster, AL; and sister, Ione Tingen of Fuquay-Varina, NC.
Erselle graduated from Fuquay-Varina High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church for over 80 years, serving as W.M.U. president, Sunday School teacher and choir member for over 60 years. Erselle was named "woman of the year" by the Fuquay-Varina Garden Club.
She was a charter member of the Order of the Easter Star, Chapter #170 in Fuquay-Varina. Later in life Erselle joined the Garner Chapter #321 and was presented her 50 years of service jewel.
