Betty Long Billingsley

Betty Long Billingsley, passed away Monday, Oct. 2, at Mayview Convalescent Center in Raleigh after a long illness with Alzheimer’s.
Betty was a former resident of Indian Head, Md., for more than 50 years. Mrs. Billingsley was born November 10, 1924, in Siebert, Md. She was the daughter of the late Isaac and Edith Long of Oldtown, Md. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, McNeal W. Billingsley; and brothers, Kenneth and Paul Long.
Mrs. Billingsley is survived by her devoted daughter, Kay B. Kingan and her husband, Rober, of Raleigh; a grandson, Robert B. Murray, and his wife, Cyndi, of Fuquay-Varina; a sister, Wanda G. Morgan, and her husband, Jack, of Loganville, Ga.; brothers, Gene E. Long, and his wife, Aline, of Loganville, Ga., and Tim W. Long and his wife, Linda, of Franklin, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews and relatives.
Mrs. Billingsley was an active member of the Indian Head Baptist Church, Indian Head, Md., and a member of Grace Chapter No 21, Order of the Eastern Star, Indian Head, Md.
Funeral services will be held at 12 o’clock Thursday, Oct. 5, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to noon prior to the service.
Burial will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, Md., on Saturday afternoon Oct. 7.

Ruby Lee Perry

Ruby Lee Perry, 76, of 1662 Tarboro Road, Youngsville. died Tuesday morning, Oct. 3, at Duke Raleigh Hospital. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Letha Bailey Shearon and Orman Shearon and was preceded in death by her husband, Purvis Perry. Mrs. Perry was retired as an assembler with ABB in Raleigh.
Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock Friday Oct. 6, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Mike Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith-Perry Family Cemetery in Wake Forest.
She is survived by a son, James Earl Perry and wife, Dorothy, of Youngsville; a daughter, Kathy Har, and her husband, Rodney, of Youngsville; brothers, Otee Shearon and Vermon Shearon, both of Wake Forest; a granddaughter, Linda Massey of Zebulon; a grandson, Tommy Perry of W.Va.; and a great granddaughter, Jessica Perry of Stovall.
Friends may visit with the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center 405 South Main St. Wake Forest, NC 27587.

Martha Elizabeth Fuller

Martha Elizabeth Fuller, 97, of Wake Forest, died Wednesday Oct. 4, in her home. She was born in Louisburg on Nov. 1, 1908, and was the daughter of the late Cleora Eliza Marshall Fuller and William Madison Fuller.
Miss Fuller graduated from Wake Forest High School in 1927 and from Woman’s College in Greensboro in 1931. She was a matron at and patron of Baptist Children’s Home of North Carolina and served in the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps during WWII. Miss Fuller was a retired teacher and farmer. She taught at Rolesville Elementary School for 37 years and was a gifted storyteller. Miss Fuller was a devoted member of and former deacon at Forestville Baptist Church.
Memorial services will be held at 10 o’clock Tuesday, Oct. 10, in the Forestville Baptist Church with Dr. Nicholas Muteti officiating.
Miss Fuller is survived by her brother, David Dowd Fuller of Gainesville, Fla., and seven nieces and 10 nephews. Along with her parents, Miss Fuller was also preceded in death by her sisters, Cassie Myrtle Tillman, Lucy Thomas Hartsfield, Viola Pearle Horton, Cleora Estelle Donnelly, Willie Burt Raulston, Gladys Prudence Williams and Mary Iris Fuller; and her brothers, Wharton Milton Fuller, Ellis Marshall “Jack” Fuller, Richard Monroe Fuller and Maynard Darvey Fuller.

Michael Anthony Ray

Michael Anthony Ray, 24, of Louisburg died Tuesday morning at Franklin Regional Medical Center. He was born in Wake County, the son of Jerry Wayne Ray and the late Patsy Ann Watson Ray and was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bobby Ray McLamb. Mr. Ray was a carpenter.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest.
He is survived by his father, Jerry Wayne Ray of Louisburg; grandmother, Elma McLamb of Louisburg; and a brother, Jamie Travis Ray of Wake Forest.

Jason Bruce Hill

Jason Bruce Hill, 35, of Raleigh, died Thursday, December 21, 2006. He was a devoted father and husband and was an avid sports enthusiast and Wolfpack fan. He loved sports including golf, Nascar, basketball and football.
Jason was dedicated to his family and always seemed to be the glue at all family gatherings. His smile and personality lit up the room. He had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The twinkle in his eye will be live on in his sons, Connor and Nolan.
Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, December 27, 2006 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Miolen officiating. Burial followed in Montlawn Memorial Park.
Jason is survived by his wife, Tanya M. Hill; sons, Connor and Nolan Hill; mother, Lylah Carroll and husband, Byron, of Fayetteville, Ga.; father, Bruce Hill and wife, Mary, of Hoyt, Kan.; sister, Lindsay Hill of Clayton; brother, Trevor Hill and his wife, Natali, and sons, Maddox and Cooper, of Newnan, Ga; mother-in-law, Martha Anne McCarthy of Raleigh; step-sister, Elizabeth Drennan and husband, Mike, and children, Jackson, Annacarroll and Kate, of McKinney, Texas; step-brother, Keith Carroll and wife, Jean, and sons, Kasey and Korey, of McDonough, Ga; grandparents, Lorin Morlan and wife, Dorothy, of Carbondale, Kan., and Wayne and Kathryn Hill of Tecumseh, Kan. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Genieva Morlan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Connor and Nolan Hill Education Fund, 2340 Spruce Shadows Lane, Raleigh, NC 27614.

Pearl C. Marshall

Pearl Catlett Marshall, 86, of Wake Forest, died Wednesday morning, December 20, 2006 at Hillside Nursing Center. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Sidney D. Catlett and Lizzie Ray Catlett and was married to Sanford Marshall, who preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, December 22, 2006 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Mangum officiating. Burial followed in Stony Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Marshall is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Kinton of Youngsville; sons, Bobby Marshall, Linwood Marshall and Ennis Marshall of Wake Forest, Charles Marshall of Wendell, and Owen Marshall of Youngsville; sister, Frances Davis of Youngsville; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Macie Moore.
Pallbearers were Richard Garner, Chris Marshall, Alton Carter, Jr., Curtis Kinton, Wade Marshall and William Markham, Jr.

Pauline Woodlief Dupree

Pauline Woodlief Dupree, 75, of Raleigh, died Wednesday, December 21, 2006, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Ms. Dupree was born in Wake Forest on April 28, 1931 to Marvin R. and Nollie Catlett Woodlief.
She married Daniel Ray Dupree on January 30, 1953. She lived with her husband in Wake Forest, Lubbock, Texas, and later San Jose, Calif. Ms. Dupree moved to Franklin County, after her husband’s death in 1969.
She worked for many years at Franklinton High School while her children were attending school. Later, she managed Sugar Loaf retail at the North Carolina State Farmers Market.
She was known there as the “Apple Lady” and could easily recall what variety of peaches or apples her customers liked the best.
Her dedication to her children was the highlight of her life.
Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock, Sunday morning, December 24, 2006 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Annas Sr. officiating. Burial followed in the Wake Forest Cemetery.
She is survived by her children, Cindy Clayton-Lowe and her husband, Bobby, of Taylorsville, Ray Dupree of Youngsville, Betty Stallings and her husband, Robert, of Kittrell, Rose Frazier of Goldsboro, Angelia Young of Raleigh and John Dupree of Florida; brothers, Marvin Woodlief Jr. and wife, Faithy, of California, Therman Woodlief, Herman Woodlief and wife, Alice, of California, Donald Woodlief of Louisburg, Frank Woodlief and wife, Sharon, of California, Eugene Woodlief and wife, Sherry, of Rolesville; sisters, Ruby Fuller and husband, John, of Franklinton, Frankie White and husband, Shelton, of Youngsville and Margaret Caton and husband, Larry, of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Kenneth Clayton, Anya Stallings, Danielle Payne, Robert Lowe and David Young; great-grandchildren, Julia and Damien; in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Ray Dupree, and her brother, Ronald Woodlief.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Centers of North Carolina on 4101 Macon Pond Road, Raleigh, NC, 27607. Our many thanks go to Dr. Stephen Tremont and staff. We appreciate the love and care of the fifth floor nurses at Rex Hospital.
Pallbearers were Timmy Bailey, Kenneth Clayton Sr., Vernon Davis, Bobby Tharrington, Scott White and Danny Woodlief.
