Marian Jean Redmond
Marian Jean Redmond, 41, of Cary died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh after a sudden illness.
Mar grew up in Sparta, N.J., and was the daughter of John H. Redmond, who survives her, and the late Jeanette K. McCarthy Redmond. She was a graduate of Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pa., and received her master's in education: supervision and mathematics from the University of Calgary in Canada. Mar taught mathematics from 1987 until 2001 in grades 3-6.
She and her family moved to Cary in 1999. Mar was an active member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church in Cary.
She was committed to actively caring for people and the environment. Mar had a deep and abiding faith in God. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Marian will be greatly missed by her family.
In addition to her father, Marian is survived by her husband of 12 years Garnell Lewis of the home in Cary; her two beloved children, son, Rory Garnell Lewis and daughter McCarthy Redmond Janice Lewis of the home; her brother, John J. Redmond Jr. and his wife, Kathleen of Howell, N.J.; her two sisters, Jean Marie Redmond of Eureka, Calif., and Kathleen Ann Redmond of New Bern.
The family received friends Monday and Tuesday evenings, Feb. 9-10, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary. A Mass of the Resurrection was held Wednesday at St. Michael's, with burial following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington.

James S. 'Sid' Smith
Sid Smith, 59, died Feb. 9, 2004, at Rex Hospital after a brave and courageous battle with lung cancer.
Sid, who was born May 28, 1944, was employed 24 years with Tipper Tie Inc. in Apex as a Tooling Engineer. Sid served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. He was proud to be an American, live in Apex and work at Tipper Tie. Sid loved life, his family and his many friends. He was an avid golfer, a true Southern gentleman and ever an optimist. His patience and kindness served him well in work and play. To all his golfing buddies — thanks for all your love, prayers and support. To our Salem Church family and numerous friends — we couldn't have made it without you.
A funeral service will be held today, Thursday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Apex.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. Dr. Jeff Beckett will officiate. The family received friends Wednesday evening at the Apex Funeral Home in Apex, and other times at the home.
Sid is survived by his wife, Marcia Walters Smith; a stepson, Dean S. Woody of Cary; mother-in-law, Louise K. Walters of Apex; sister and brother-in-law, Alice Lloyd and T. G. of Four Oaks; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Greg Smith and Sandy, and Mike Smith and Vallie of Raleigh; a brother-in-law, Mac Walters of Apex; and many nieces and nephews.

William Webb Glasgow
William Webb Glasgow, infant son of Scot and Leanne W. Glasgow, born Jan. 10, 2004, died Feb. 10. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Lee and Patti Webb of Holly Springs, and his paternal grandparents, Henry and Sally Glasgow of Cary.
A memorial service was held at Greenwood Forest Baptist Church in Cary on Thursday, Feb. 12. Dr. Randy Sherron, pastor, officiated. Friends were received in the fellowship hall following the memorial service.

Mark Reid Tucker
Mark Reid Tucker, 49, of Apex, died Feb. 12, 2004. He was employed by the Wake County Sheriff's office as a Deputy Sheriff/Investigator. From September 1999 through March 2002, Mr. Tucker was the United States Marshal for the Eastern District of North Carolina, appointed by President Clinton to serve and protect. He was the president of the Wake County Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #41, from 1988 to present.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia H. Tucker of Apex; two sons, Chad and Matthew Tucker of the home; parents, Dallas and Virginia Tucker of Cary; one sister, Robbie Angell of Asheville; and three brothers, Tom Tucker of Raleigh, and Buddy Tucker and Dan Tucker, both of Cary.
The family received friends on Sunday, Feb. 15, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary. Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 16, at Mid-Way Baptist Church, 6910 Fayetteville Road, Raleigh. Pastor Mitch Mitchell officiated. Burial followed at Montlawn Memorial Park.

Floyd Douglas Nutt
Floyd Douglas Nutt, 77, of Oxford passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2004. He was a sergeant in the U. S. Army during World War II. He also remained very active in his community and his church.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Dawson Nutt of the home; daughters, Phyllis Nutt Womble and husband, Wayne of New Hill, Willadean "Dee" Mayes and husband, Ethan of Oxford; sisters, Clarice Ransdell of Morrisville, Carrie Herndon of Durham and Doris Sears of Morrisville; brother, Cliff Nutt of Durham; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Friday, March 5, in the Good Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Dawson and the Rev. Bob Weatherspoon officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Thursday evening, March 4, at Apex Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Phyllis and Wayne Womble in New Hill.
Dorothy Williams Jordan

Dorothy Williams Jordan, 91, of Apex, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at Western Wake Medical Center after an extended illness.
A funeral service was held Friday afternoon, March 5, 2004 at Apex United Methodist Church. The Revs. Bob Bergland and Henry Lovelace officiated. Burial followed in Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh.
Mrs. Jordan is survived by her son, Larry M. Jordan and wife, Candy of Apex; daughters, De J. Morris and husband, David of Apex, and Margaret Jordan of Raleigh; grandchildren, Donna Strother and husband, Darin, Amy Dean and husband, Proctor, Dana Cromwell and husband, Darin, and Karen Jordan; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Carl Dean, and James and Jason Cromwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband, Guthrie T. Jordan. The family received friends Thursday evening, March 4, at Apex Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Larry and Candy Jordan in Apex. Memorials may be given to The Apex United Methodist Church Building Fund, 100 S. Hughes St., Apex, NC 27502.

Lillian Miller Abernathy
Lillian Miller Abernathy, 81, of Marlton, N.J., formerly of Fuquay-Varina, died Saturday, March 6, 2004.
Mrs. Abernathy was extremely dedicated to Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Fuquay-Varina and to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Marlton, N.J.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, March 10, at 11 a.m. at Apex Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fuquay-Varina.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Holman and husband, Harry of Marlton, N.J., and Carol Campbell and husband, Doug of Garner; and granddaughters, Courtney and Whitney Holman. Mrs. Abernathy was predeceased by her husband, Preston L. Abernathy.
The family received friends Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Thomas Ray "Tommy" Mills
Thomas Ray "Tommy" Mills, 66, of Apex, died Saturday, March 6, 2004 at Litchford Falls Health Center in Raleigh. Mr. Mills retired from Kmart in Cary. He was a former Mason and Eastern Star, Apex Chapter.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, in Apex United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Murphy officiating. Burial followed in Apex Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Walls Mills; son, Thomas Ray "Tommy" Mills Jr. and wife, Tammy of Holly Springs; grandson, Justin Mills; stepsister, Pat Cummings and husband, Buddy of Apex; aunts, Ada Mills of Sanford and Florine Gilliam of Raleigh; and several nieces and nephews. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Heber and Margaret Moore Mills; stepmother, Maude Cockrell; brothers, Charles and Alton Mills; and sister, Betty Mills.
The family received friends Tuesday evening, March 9, at Apex Funeral Home.
