KENNETH DAVIS
NORLINA -- Kenneth Davis, 82, died Tuesday at Maria Parham Hospital.
Mr. Davis was born in Vance County, son of the late Hugh Cheek and Estra Dickerson Davis.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Katie Clark Davis.
Mr. Davis was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Civil Service at Norfolk Naval Base. As a member of the Warrenton Lions Club, he served at various offices and committees. Also, he was a member of Norlina United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Katie and Harry Hankla of Charlotte, Patricia and Paul Loenig of Pennington, NJ; grandchildren, Kimberly Elyanow of Las Vegas, NV, David Hankla of Lawrenceville, GA, Mark Hankla of Danbury, CT, and Dr. P.T. Koenig, III of Sacramento, CA; great-granddaughter, Rebecca Marie Hankla of Lawrenceville, GA; sisters, Sue D. Felts of Warrenton, Kate D. Puryear of Fayetteville; brother, Clarence Davis of Warrenton.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 1999 at Norlina United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Warren Dale Cemetery.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Blaylock Funeral Home, Warrenton.
LOSSIE L. DAVIS
CLAYTON -- Lossie Lee Davis, 76, of 82 Country Lane, died Tuesday, 1/26. Services 11 a.m. Thursday at McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Davis Family Cemetery, Middlesex.
She survived by sons, Dallas Davis of Middlesex, Larry Davis of Sims, Ernest Davis of Clayton; daughters, Linda Jordan, Sue Ross, Ann Jones and Sandra Sanders, all of Clayton; sister, Dorothy Creech of Benson; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; step-children, Glenn Davis of Middlesex, Blanche Johnson of Selma, Gerald Davis of Virginia.
Family will receive friends 7:30-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
ROBERT "BOBBY" EDWARDS JR.
YOUNGSVILLE -- Robert "Bobby" Edwards, Jr., 66, of 1695 Moore's Pond Road, died Tuesday, January 26, 1999 at Rex Hospital. He was born in Wake County and was the son of the late Robert and Alma Perry Edwards. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class and served on the Building and Grounds Committee.
At the young age of 14, when his father died suddenly, he became a farmer and helped his mother raise his younger brother and his sisters. He was an employee of Westinghouse Meter Corp./ABB and retired with 36 years of service.
He loved nature and the outdoors. His main hobby was gardening and watching things grow. He was very compassionate toward those in need, often extending a helping hand and sharing vegetables from his garden. He believed that whatever one possesses becomes a double value when it is shared with others. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and was a "special papa". May his memory teach us how to live, laugh, forgive and love.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon, January 28, 1999 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Rolesville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife of 12 years, Lucy Underwood Edwards; sister, Nancy Wilson of Raleigh; stepchildren, Michael Underwood and Debbie Williams, both of Rolesville, Ronnie Hart and Linda Myers of Middlesex; a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Wilder Hart Edwards; sisters, Annie Ruth Alford, Angeline Pearce, Doris Hight and Eva Mae Upchurch and by his brother, Charles "Doodle" Edwards.

The family will receive friends at Bright Funeral Home from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.

JULY 19, 1929 - APRIL 26, 1999
ZEBULON -- Curtis Alton Sanderford, 69, of 808 Currin-Perry Rd., died Monday afternoon at his home. He was a retired employee of Schraders Bellows Corp. Born in Johnston County, the son of the late Clarence and Callie Whitley Sanderford. He was predeceased by his wife, Creo W. Sanderford on June 6, 1998.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
Surviving: daughter, Roseanna Christy of Mooresville; son, Clarence Sanderford of Castalia; sisters, Eleanor Phipps of Sanford; Fay Jones, Kay Gresham, and Callie Joe Johnson, all of Wendell; brothers, Lloyd Sanderford of Zebulon and Dwight Sanderford of Wendell; four grandchildren; special friends, Calvin and Merle Hood, Noemi and Freddy Perez; special caregivers, May Grondin and Margaret Sanderford.

JESSE S. SHELLABARGER
DEC. 26, 1902 - APR. 21, 1999
GARNER -- Jesse Samuel Shellabarger, 96, of 109 Tiffany Lane, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday at home.
He was a retired Engineer with the Illinois Central Railroad having worked out of Jackson and Memphis, TN.
Mr. Shellabarger was formerly of Titusville, FL, and Jackson, TN.
Graveside service, 1 p.m. Monday, May 3, 1999 at Hollywood Cemetery, Jackson, TN.
Surviving: daughter, Jean S. Donley of Dallas, TX and son, Robert Shellabarger of Garner, NC; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was married for 57 years to Dee Penniston Shellabarger, who passed away in 1980.
In lieu of flowers, it was his wish that memorial contributions may be made to your church or charity of choice.

FOUR OAKS -- Lee Justin Stewart, 17, of 625 Stewart Road, Four Oaks, NC, died Monday, April 26, 1999.
He was a senior at South Johnston High School.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 1999 at Horton Cemetery in Zebulon, NC.
Surviving are father, Ralph Lee Stewart, Jr. of Four Oaks, NC; mother, Deborah Craig Stewart of Vilas, NC; brother, Sean Dustin Stewart and fiancee, Wendy Hardy and Dylan Hardy of Four Oaks, NC; maternal grandmother, Emma Horton Craig of Cary, NC; special family friend, Trish Hicks; aunt and uncle, Faye and Edward Stephenson; cousins Kelli and Will Stephenson; aunt and uncle Jan and Joe Hodges; cousins Randy and Stewart Hodges; uncle, Reed Stewart; cousins, Denise and Bryan Stewart; uncle and aunt, Michael and Jeanne Craig and many other relatives.

MARGARET D. FAWCETT
PITTSBORO -- Margaret D. Fawcett, 89, died Saturday, January 23, 1999 at Mayview Convalescent Center in Raleigh.
She was born in Lansdowne, PA and resided in Delaware County, PA, for most of her life.
After many years of bookkeeping for a mushroom packing plant in PA, she retired to Pearce, AZ.
She then moved to Pittsboro, NC, where she lived with her niece.
Ms. Fawcett is survived by her sister, Martha Bohn of Pearce, AZ; nieces, Amanda Erikson of Denmark and Mary Hammond of Pittsboro; nephew, James N. Granade of Flagstaff, AZ.
A memorial service is to be held at a later date in Pennsylvania.
Arrangements are by the Cremation Society of the Carolinas, Inc., Raleigh.
CAPITOLA Q. GALLOWAY
TIMMONSVILLE, SC -- Capitola Q. Galloway, 79, died Jan. 25, 1999.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999 at 3 o'clock in the First Baptist Church of Timmonsville.
Interment will be in Byrd Cemetery directed by Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.
Survivors include a sister, Margaret Alice Keith of Wake Forest, N.C.
ELIZABETH DILL GIBBS
ZEBULON -- Elizabeth Dill Gibbs, 88, of Zebulon, formerly of Swan Quarter and Wendell, died Jan. 22, 1999 at Guardian Care.
A native of Hyde County, she was born on Nov. 2, 1910, the daughter of the late Edgar and Bessie Mann Gibbs.
She was a graduate of East Carolina College and taught many years in Johnston County (Corinth Holders) and Alexandria, VA schools.
Surviving a nice, Joan Simpson Turner of Atlanta; great nephew, Eric Maynard of Fuquay, and great-niece Andrea Maynard of Seattle, WA.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Katie Mann Gibbs Simpson and Ella Dill Gibbs Murrow.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 1999 at St. George's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Lake Landing Historical District in Hyde County, with Reverend Stephen T. Dunstan officiating.
