Martha Elizabeth Fuller
Martha Elizabeth Fuller, 97, of Wake Forest, died Wednesday Oct. 4, in her home. She was born in Louisburg, on Nov. 1, 1908, and was the daughter of the late Cleora Eliza Marshall Fuller and William Madison Fuller.
Miss Fuller graduated from Wake Forest High School in 1927 and from Woman’s College in Greensboro in 1931. She was a matron at and patron of Baptist Children’s Home of North Carolina and served in the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps during WWII. Miss Fuller was a retired teacher and farmer. She taught at Rolesville Elementary School for 37 years and was a gifted storyteller. Miss Fuller was a devoted member of and former deacon at Forestville Baptist Church.
Memorial services will be held at 10 o’clock Tuesday, Oct. 10, in the Forestville Baptist Church with Dr. Nicholas Muteti officiating.
Miss Fuller is survived by her brother, David Dowd Fuller of Gainesville, Fla., and seven nieces and 10 nephews. Along with her parents, Miss Fuller was also preceded in death by her sisters, Cassie Myrtle Tillman, Lucy Thomas Hartsfield, Viola Pearle Horton, Cleora Estelle Donnelly, Willie Burt Raulston, Gladys Prudence Williams and Mary Iris Fuller; and her brothers, Wharton Milton Fuller, Ellis Marshall “Jack” Fuller, Richard Monroe Fuller and Maynard Darvey Fuller.

George D. McGhee
George D. McGhee, 76, of 1707 Jack Road, Clayton, formerly of Wake Forest, and Franklinton, died Sunday, September 30, 2007, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Mr. McGhee was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Irene Haley McGhee and Robert McGhee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hope Horton McGhee, and was a veteran of the United States Army.
Funeral services were held at 3 o’clock, Wednesday afternoon, October 3, 2007, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Waiden, Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Mr. McGhee is survived by his daughter, Vickie Woodard of Clayton; grandchildren, April Woodard and G. L. Woodard of Clayton; sister, Elaine Smith of Franklinton; brother, Robert McGhee of Wake Forest; special friends, Wayne and Alice Smith of Clayton; numerous nieces and nephews, special pet, Fran.

Tracy Glen Tant
Tracy Glen Tant, 41, of 1113 Green Hill Road, Franklinton, died Thursday, September 27, 2007, at Carebridge Assisted Living Community. Mr. Tant was born in Vance County, the son of the late Mary Lou Perry Tant and the late Willie Davis Tant.
Memorial services were held at 3 o’clock, Sunday afternoon, September 30, 2007, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Waiden officiating.
Mr. Tant is survived by his wife, Donna Piper Tant of Louisburg; brothers, Willard Davis Tant and wife, Joy, of Knightdale, Randy Tant and wife, Pam, of Franklinton and Darrell Maurice Tant and wife, Debbie, of Rolesville; seven nieces and nephews.

Mildred Stroud Brooks Stallings
Mildred Stroud Brooks Stallings, 89, of Rutherfordton, formerly of Wake Forest, died Wednesday, September 26, 2007, at the Holly Springs Senior Citizen Home in Rutherfordton. She was born in Duplin County, the daughter of the late Esther Pease Stroud and Isaac Thomas Stroud. Mrs. Brooks was a retired High School Teacher, a former hostess at Bright Funeral Home and a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, September 28, 2007, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Tom Jackson, the Rev. Marvin Green and the Rev. Max Eller officiating. Entombment was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by her husband, Melvin Stallings; a daughter, Frances B. Barrett of Richmond, Va..; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; step-daughters, Brenda Blanton and Doris McSwain, both of Kings Mountain; three step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; sisters, Sue Todd and Doris Eller, both of Buies Creek, Kappy Goslee of Currie; brothers, Al Stroud of Weldon, Joe Stroud of Garner and Tommy Stroud of W. Monroe, La. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.C. Brooks; a daughter, Rachel Bissette and by her son, J.C. Brooks, Jr.

Michael Anthony Ray
Michael Anthony Ray, 24, of Louisburg, died Tuesday morning at Franklin Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Wake County, the son of Jerry Wayne Ray and the late Patsy Ann Watson Ray and was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bobby Ray McLamb.
Mr. Ray was a carpenter.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest.
He is survived by his father, Jerry Wayne Ray of Louisburg; grandmother, Elma McLamb of Louisburg; and a brother, Jamie Travis Ray of Wake Forest.
Friends may visit with the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 South Main St., Wake Forest, NC 27587.

Pearlie Vance ‘P.V.’ Medlin
P.V. Medlin, 82, of Wake Forest, died Saturday, July 28, 2007, at Duke Medical Center following complications from heart surgery.
P.V. was born in Franklin County on February 10, 1925, the son of the late Cherry Denton Medlin and Vance Medlin.
He was a WWII veteran and a member of the Wake Forest Lodge #282 A.F. & A.M.
He retired from Burlington Industries in Wake Forest, in the 1970s and moved to the Carolina Beach area until recently.
Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning July 31, 2007, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home.
Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
P.V. is survived by his children, Pam Keith and husband, Clifton, of Wake Forest and Tony Medlin and wife, Diane, of Emerald Isle; grandchildren, Karen Keith, Tim Medlin and wife, Holly, Chad Medlin and wife, Scarlett; great-grandchildren, Mary Helen Medlin, Cam Medlin and Chandler Medlin.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Buddy Medlin and David Medlin, and by his sisters, Mavis Pulley and Mildred Denton.

Tina Rush Diamond
Tina Rush Diamond, 40, of Wake Forest, died Thursday, July 26, 2007, due to her battle with breast cancer. She was courageous and was an inspiration to many.
She was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and moved to North Carolina, in 1990, where she had a life that she loved. She and her husband, Tom Diamond, have a beautiful daughter, Randi, who was the light of Tina’s life.
Tina was a business analyst at The Body Shop in Wake Forest. She had such a big heart and did so much for others. She threw fantastic parties, contributed to several charities and loved making Easter baskets for Safe Space. She enjoyed traveling and was always planning a new adventure for her family.
We all love her very much and know she will always be with us. We’d like to thank all of her friends and family who have given so much help and support, especially Cheryl Murray and Debbie Cox, Tom’s sisters.
Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Sunday morning, July 29, 2007, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with Celebrant Bill Joyner officiating. Burial was in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Tina was preceded in death by her father, Ned Offrett. She is survived by her husband, Tom Diamond; daughter Randi Diamond; mother, Shirley Gillies, her “other mother”, Rita Offrett, her grandparents, Ray and Hannah Read, her siblings, Michelle (Rich) Vuksinick, Toni Rush, Ryan (Aimee) Campbell, Wade, Reese, Rochelle and Reynold Campbell, nieces and nephew, Andi and Dayna Vuksinick and Hunter Campbell.

Lawrence Douglas Kearney
Lawrence Douglas Kearney, 70, of 1274 Clifton Pond Road, Louisburg, died Thursday, July 26, 2007, at his residence.
Mr. Kearney was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Mildred Pulley Kearney and Otis Kearney. He was employed for 39 years with Burlington Industries as a Supervisor and was a member of Oak Level Christian Church.
Mr. Kearney is survived by his wife, Carolyn White Kearney; son, Eric Wade Kearney of Zebulon; step-daughter, Sandra Kelly and husband, Jimmy, of Youngsville; step-son, Scott B. Wall of Youngsville; sister, Cheryl Morris and husband, Tim, of Louisburg; brothers, Steven Kearney of Wake Forest and Harold Kearney of Youngsville; one granddaughter, two great-grandchildren, two step-granddaughters and one step-great-grandson, Mr. Kearney is preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Kearney, Terry Kearney and Dexter Kearney.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock, Sunday afternoon, July 29, 2007, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Williams and the Rev. Dr. Julian Motley officiating. Burial was in Oak Level Christian Church Cemetery.

Lester A. Schnittker
Lester A. Schnittker, 88, of Raleigh, died Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at Hillside Nursing Center in Wake Forest.
Mr. Schnittker was born December 15, 1918, in Nebraska City, Neb., the son of the late Hattie Leibrock and Ernest Schnittker. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for 10 years and participated in many theaters in WW II.
Mr. Schnittker is survived by his sons, Ronald Schnittker of Congers, N.Y., Jeffry Schnittker of St. Augustine, Fla., and Timothy Schnittker of Warwick, N.Y.; daughter, Robin Kuhfeldt of Raleigh; sister, Eadie Stubbs of Mesa, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; former wife and mother of his children, Jeanne Wilson; grandson Tim; brothers Harry, Louis and Don; and sisters Esther Giersch, Ilene Herkimer and Laurene Speidel.
